It’s a shame, really. This game is my favorite 3D fighter. I’ve never been able to get into SC or Tekken like I do with this franchise.
DoA4 was the game I brought my Brother when he got his 360, just so I could play it. I eventually got my own 360 and my own copy of the game. DoA4 was my favorite 3D fighter… other then SC, but no one would play DoA with me because, lol bewbs.

Oh they made fun of those too. I think it was because DoA, and the old creator, was much more… open about that stuff. SC wasn’t marketed with Bewbs in mind… except for those ads in Japan for SC5…
its not the boobs , it was the holds from the last game that gave a distaste for most on doa…it just makes them feel better to try and slagg on it because its hard and blame the tits and ass , most buy fighting games and get destroyed and give up on the genre all together
I myself loved the holds. I always felt that I wasn’t defenseless once I got hit unlike in most other fighters. But yeah, I see your point.
DoA4 did piss me off in 1 way… fucking Alpha 152 being cheap as hell. My friends enjoyed watching me trying to beat that girl all the time, laughing as I got more annoyed.

I like DOA but I do hate the over sexualisation in the game, Itagaki used this a USP which he even let his daughters play >.>.
I must have missed this but are there still locked characters or is everything unlocked for online and tournament play?

TN has the best animators and 3d model designers in the fighting game industry right now, and it’s kind of tiring to see them mocked for their talents simply because they work with the female anatomy better than anyone else. TTT2 has shameless sex appeal all over it, but since the models look like stocky action figures no one takes notice. MK9 has ridiculous looking females, but once again, their modeling is incredibly unnatural looking. But these games are great for their own reasons and its because they have graphics engines that serve their own purposes, as does DoA.
Because visuals are just as important to any game as its “gameplay,” and DoA’s number one focus is to have a sexy looking engine, characters and mechanics alike. Its whole counter hold system exists to complement the fluidity of the characters – you simply don’t see choreography like that in any other fighter because it would look dumb on any other engine.

I really hope this game does well. I want to see more people playing, more people involved, and more people invested in this franchise. It is seriously underrated.
i could still find a couple 10+ filled lobbies easy on doa 4 last month when i dusted it off and checked as long as patchs can make the net play decent, there will always be some guys playing any game

Games like Street Fighter, MVC and MK are all still relevant to the community across a wide span of all of those franchises’ games. I feel like DOA is only as popular as it is right now, because a new entry in the series just came out.
