Game is looking good. subscribes
I’d love to see VFvsDOA, especially for the characters with similar styles to fight each other:
Akira vs Kokoro
Shun vs Brad Wong
etc. etc.
VFvsDOA, and more importantly, TN working with Sega-AM2 could do alot of good for both franchises. VF could finally get to implement the varied environments they tried back in VF3 and DOA could get some more technical and refined.

Many of the concerns addressed on the first page of that thread have been alleviated in DOA5.
Off course, the last few pages of the thread have gone totally off tangent with pointless arguments.
Which is why i said “addressed on the first page” haha.
The only DOA I played was 4 and I instantly hated it. I was the only one remotely interested in fighting games playing it against some casual friends and lost every time to random button mashing. I have a friend who’s buying DOA5 so I’m going to give it a real shot though
EMPER0R C0W’s just pmed me that he’s got a new Gamescom build CMV coming up for Bayman.
EDIT: It’s out now.
Thanks. I never got deep into a DOA before. I played DOA4 only enough that my understanding of “DOA4 sucks” was just “you were obviously being comboed but you still countered me”. The combo and match vids(Mila in particular) has me interested in picking up DOA5.
The sad thing is that he didn’t show off Bayman’s BT Offensive Hold which does guarantee free combos unlike many of the ones in his video which show off combos that have 1,2, or 3 chances for the opponent to escape.
Ah well.
That video brings fear of my poor mila and ayane being Held to death by bayman…is there a counter to these offensive holds from watching the video, it looks like pure rape
Throw beats Offensive Hold.
Mila is going to be good. Watch.
Can you shed some light on what Raansu meant by “no frame advantage”? I tried to look up the frame data, but it seems difficult to find. I don’t like to be anal about frames, but crappy frames was one of the reasons I hated SC4 so reading something like “no frame advantage” makes me kinda antsy.
DOA5 has an online pass (confirmed in the PS3 update). Interesting how both DOA5 and TTT2 have online passes. I guess the trend’s finally spread to fighting games (with MK9 being the pioneer). Hopefully the online turns out good like TTT2’s is (haven’t tried it yet, but it can’t possibly be worse than T6’s) and not awful like MK9’s.
lol online pass, oh no i’m gonna miss out waiting 10 minutes for a match and terrible netcode
fuck sake they need to get over themselfs and start delivering good netcode and good match making, till then i dont give a toss about online play
Looks like i’ll wait for this one to hit the bargin bin
As in, every attack was negative on block and hit. The only time you would get positive is if they were in stun, and they were allowed to hold out of stun immediately - negating the frame advantage.
This basically made it so you were afraid to attack because you basically were punished for attacking… in a fighting game. The only reason you attacked was simply because someone had to.
Thanks for clearing that up. I suspected as much, and yeah, that sounds pretty horrific, worse than SC4 even. So I guess frames were beefed up in DOA5, then? I wonder if Akira, Pai and Sarah have +2 on block with their standing punches like they do in VF.
DrDogg (the one who’s written the guide to the game) says the VF characters keep almost all their frame data, so they are the higher tier in DOA5. Out of all the characters in the game there are only 3-4 who are “non viable”, according to the same person.
So apparently, some stores in Long Beach have already broken the release date.
