Dead or Alive 5

I never was a huge Xbox guy. Only got an Xbox because my dad won it at a microsoft conference. Mainly loved Halo and some of the RPGs.

My brother got the 360, and I bought DoA4 for him for X-mas… I seemed to be the one that played it the most. Didn’t get my own 360 till a few years later, and again I bought DoA4. I really enjoyed that fighting game… the boobs didn’t hurt, but I mainly enjoyed the fighting and the stages,

So how does everyone feel about VF vs DOA? Only problem is their characters are kind of similar and interchangeable…

Some might see that as a benefit rather than a problem.

Movelist-wise Kokoro plays nothing like Akira, for example, even though they share the same style. That, in my mind, is perfect for rival battles.

Personally I’m all for it.

God I hope Legend of the Dragon stage counts as a ceiling. The game needs more ceiling areas. Off the top of my head you only have 11 out of 12 areas in Home and 1 out of 3 areas in Oil Rig.

I need more ceilings… Bass needs more ceilings:

Vf always felt like the chars had no soul, where from other games all the ninjas felt like old friends.

I think they’d have to do DOA characters in the VF engine or vice versa. Trying to create something halfway in the middle would just alienate both audiences.

DoA + VF+ Gems= profit?

DOA + VF + Tag Assist = profit.

If the tag was like how it was in DoA 2 then im all for that

From doing research for that “Tag Team History” article last spring, I realized that DOA as a whole doesn’t get enough credit for what it did to push in terms of Tag Team for 3D fighters.

Lei Fang Gamescom build CMV is now up on the front page.

Hearing those old themes on these Emperor Cow Combo videos makes me hope you can at least have dlc option for the tracks in the past games. Although the Stage music started to grow on me and not as bad as i initially thought

What was bad about DOA4 and how is DOA5 different?

I only realized this today whilst at a tournament where the new Tekken Tag game was the main event.

Itagaki had the bright idea of making counters the main form of damage in the game.

im sure ttt1 came out before doa2.

Technically true, but very close to each other actually.

My understanding is that TTT had an earlier arcade release by a few months, but the console versions of both games ended up both releasing the same month.

Huh…

What a coincidence it happens again eh?

TTT beat out DOA2 by a couple of months in the arcade. That said, both were in development at about the same time and were most likely working on the tag feature as a response to how well Capcom’s own efforts were received. DOA++ itself has an experimented with a team system, but there was no tagging int he game yet. As it stands, DOA2 innovated a few things, first and foremost, different tagging animations and setups depending on your position on stage. This is something the original TTT didn’t have since Tekken did not have walls yet. Then there was the fact that certain character pairs had special “tag throws” that did more damage than regular tag throws.

Learn something new everyday, as I was always under the impression DOA2 came out first then TTT. I remember getting it on my Dreamcast when it first came out. :c But again learn something new everyday.
