Dead or Alive 5

What if that’s some of Bayman’s sweat that just splashed onto Christie? Did I just kill your boner?

Depends, would “Bayman” be portrayed by Sir Bobby Blake? If not, no buy.

Yeah your right – I meant DOA 3 – referring more to her black/white jump suit like below.

For this new one the snake looking design on the side seems odd and I don’t care much for the black thong on the outside .
But I do like the more realistic look they’ve given all the characters thus far. Especailly Kasumi – she no longer looks like a 12 year old with giant jugs.

I really look forward to seeing more stages than anything. Seems like Tecmo has some cool ideas so far.

Well the great thing about DOA is that there’s always like 5 or 6 costumes per character. They’ve traditionally been really good about those kinds of conveniences, even in the modern age of DLC.

Also, fuck, really hoping I’m going to have the money to get this, TTT2, and VF5:FS by the time they come out. I’d rather not have to choose. D:

The fact alone that she’s wearing a bra is a step up.

Her new duds actually look really cool, it’s not really a thong but ventilation slits that a present on biker suits(it’s actually what this is now) here is a better look of the costume…sorry in advance for the big image. Not that D3v would mind though…

Christie has the beginnings of some nice hips in that image. Not quite Capcom level, but close.

After the first RPG lets loose everyone starts opening fire. The problem is the way they edited the fight for the trailer. If you pay close attention you can see people on the sidelines shooting at each other in some sections though, but it seems that the engagement “starts” after the first dangerzone is hit and escalates as you move further into the stage. Bad editing, thats all.

It’s good that it’s done this way too, instead of moving dangerzones that will hit you randomly like there was in DOA 4. That shit sounds cool on paper but its annoying as hell to deal with crap you can’t even see hitting you from offscreen.

Well, Bayman is Russian. The better question is why the hell he would be doing anything with the Russians when he was exiled for screwing the Kremlin’s daughter.

That is a pretty nice render – you mind me asking where you got it? Curious if they had the other characters so far.

They’ve also (in most cases) been pretty good costumes as well. Wouldn’t that be a slap in the face to Capcom if Tecmo brought out at least 4 costumes per character at launch! or at least free DLC, haha! Unlocking those costumes in DOA2:HC was fun because there was SOOOO many.

Such a “slap” would only mean something if Capcom (or rather, their fanbase) really cared about what the competition was offering in the first place. Tekken, VF and DOA have all been offering costumes and/or customization options for years (a number of which have been free), but nothing has changed on the Capcom front, even when they did finally start using 3D models.

So yeah, “Capcom don’t care”, “SHOCKING NEWS” and all that. Not much else to say on this front.

the DOA5 Facebook page oddly enough, social networking even extends to the FGC.

I find this statement to be a load of shit to be honest…people do care about the aesthetics like alt costumes and such, why you think the fucking dinosaurs known as capcom finally included color edit in SFxTK? the community had been asking for some form of character customization for years…it was a common question that was asked all during SFxTK’s pre-release, why are people forgetting this shit now?

I hope we can customize the colours in DOA5.

All those outfits, with just a different colour seemed so cheap in previous games for an outfit slot.

In DOAU2 many characters were victims in this offense, DOA3(ironically came before it) had you press different buttons to get different colors/part changes for some characters. hopefully DOA5 will have a simple color edit or a very bare bones character customizer.

There’s a pretty good interview with Team Ninja up at NowGamer: http://www.nowgamer.com/features/1341388/dead_or_alive_5_toning_down_the_sexy_life_after_itagaki_interview.html

Good:
[]“We are also making Dead or Alive 5 in that it can be a tournament fighter.”
[
]Virtua Fighter: “In regards to other character, stay tuned.”

“Tag mode will not be like the tag we did in Dead or Alive Dimensions, but more like the previous console titles.”
Bad:

DOA tournament circuit: “I would say that the most active scene is in the US.”
Team Ninja thinks there’s a healthy competitive scene anywhere for DOA? What?

Here are the highest resolution assets released yesterday in their original and unmodified states:

Ayane Render
Bayman Render
Christie Render
Hayabusa Render
Hayate Render
Kasumi Render
Bayman "I’m a Fighter"
Christie “I’m a Fighter”

Damn those High res images are beautiful and insanely big

Some are stick worthy.

Then you can even use some for an arcade stick artwork.

Game is looking better the more I see it. Hopefully they do not mess it up like NG3 @.@

Shout outs to single beads of sweat. Its honestly a nice touch all pervyness I have for Christie aside

The fact that holds seem to have been nerfed is a guarantee that it’ll be, at the very least, better that DOA4, so no worries of any NG3 effect here.

Because chances are, if Capcom and their public really cared, they may have taken note about how games like VF and Tekken were giving away a lot of their customization stuff to their customers for FREE, even while Capcom was giving them the nickle and dime treatment for alternate costumes and the like. They also may not been satisfied with SFxT giving them Color Edit (or rather “give it again”, since it was a feature in CvS2 over ten years ago).

But anyway, unless their public starts truly demanding more, and more value for their buck, Capcom is just fine staying in their lane. And that’s about all that can be said in this area, really. Thus why I believe DOA5 won’t be any more of a “slap in the face” to Capcom than what Tekken and VF have been offering for years now.

Honestly DOA , and games that offer large customization options are what the standard should be(at least for 3D fighters). Soul Caliber has been charging for DLC parts just like Capcom has with alts. This kind if marketing isn’t going to stop, Tag2 may have premium DLC costume parts, the difference between these two games though are that one starts off with hundreds of parts(Tag2, VF5FS) and the other starts off with nearly nothing(SFxTK).

Hardcore and Casuals alike care about these aesthetics, DOA always had the design philosophy of having multiple alt costumes. Tekken always had P1 and P2 costumes and eventually expanded to special P3 and full blown character customization. VF also had did this with multiple costumes(slots) and many different things to customize via your player profile(VF5 Quest Mode was very close to the actual arcade experience). KOFXIII even have special costume changes and thats a 2D fighter. Capcom always gave you the bare essentials and because of that, the FGC considers this kind of thing “extra fluff” that isn’t needed. I think if you look at it as a whole, you see that Capcom has been lacking in this area and to make up for it, they market alt costumes as DLC because it’s something new to SF and to Capcom fighters in general, Prior to SFIV and MVC3…very few capcom titles had alt costumes or color edit in fighting games.

I could care less if DOA5 quote on quote “slaps capcom in the face” because they stick to their old design philosophy…I was just tripping on the fact that you implied that no one cared about character customization…when tons of people did, and it was a common question asked during SFxTK development cycle. Sorry to go off on a tangent…
