I thought you guys might like that.
Two articles have been posted over at FreeStepDodge:

Overall, a step forward in the right direction: Wall Crumple looks to have been made an air state guaranteeing follow-ups again while not causing a reset at the same time, for one.

Akira is a guest in DoA5
I just saw that. In all honesty…I’m so damn hype for DoA right now that it’s not even funny. Like, I hate playing DoA with a fucking feverish passion but that trailer made it look so good. That and no more real doll faces is good thing.
I just don’t understand these emotions.:shake:
So Like, to someone completely new to the DoA series, what’s up with all the Zoom Movies they’re showing in the Akira trailer?
It’s something like a super?
What you are seeing is a new mechanic called “power blow”. The game has no meter, but powerblows are essentially super unsafe, linear attacks you have to charge up. If they land on your opponent, you get that sort of cinematic shot and the camera gives you a small window to aim your opponent where you want to send them. If it happens to be into certain environmental hazards, crazy shit starts happening like the platform breaking off and turning into a raft.
How viable they will actually be in the game is unknown, but they look damn impressive so they are using them for trailers a lot.
Awesome trailer, the new models are beatiful and Akira in the game? wow.
What I’ve read also makes it sound like they’re almost like FAs from SF4, as well. You can also cancel out of them, while in mid-charge. Combine that with some of the new tactics that this game stands to have (VF5-style sidestep) and this could be a very interesting game.
And are those DOA1/++ style parries I see?
Very similar at the moment. Some of the hold animations seem to be placeholder, but the game is operating on a 3 point hold system that actually only does parry scale damage of around 20 damage or so. This is a massive nerf from the 60-100+ that they used to do.
There is also additional “expert” double direction holds for mid punches and mid kicks that do more damage, although nothing has been released on their active frames, damage scaling or critical state limitations yet. You would have to use one of those if you wanted to get, say, an Izuna counter from Hayabusa. It’s also entirely possible some characters will have more than one hit level for expert holds. Bayman and Leifang come to mind as they have always been very counter-heavy characters.
This will be a fun game to just play casually at least.
WTF? People are still hyped by these crossover attempts? The novelty of this shit is seriously just about gone, now. We have a Street Fighter game with Tekken characters in it for Godsakes. Tired of these gimmicks, I want to see some real innovation in the genre.

I’m not a huge fan of Virtua Fighter, but I’m excited as fuck for this game now.
out of the blue, a wild AKIRA appears!
Can we go for the record for how many times that video will be posted on one page?
lol at the still. Looks like she’s still packin’ heat.
Can’t wait for the full version of the trailer’s match to pop on the frontpage.
Thats why we are interested in this, is not a capcom cross over and the new Team Ninja is making positive changes on the DOA franchise, i would love to see more info about the game soon.
The game looks beautiful and is easily the best looking fighter ever. I like the direction temco is making and it seems like they legitimately care about the fans input this time around. I dont mind the crossover and I personally think its a strong statement the team is making by pairing themselves with the most technically respected fighter on the market. Cant wait to see more!
Sega’s publishing this game; which is most likely why Akira is in this
Pretty much. Plus, if Sega and Tecmo play their cards right, this could only be a good thing mutually for both of their franchises. Who knows, maybe by the time “VF+DOA” is seriously on the table, we’ll be looking at a game where AM2 and Team Ninja work together for a singular game, which will be good to go on both Sega’s awesome arcade hardware and the next generation of consoles.
As beautiful as both VF5 and DOA5 look right now, it can only get even better on Sega’s new hardware…HNNNNNNNNNNG…
