DC Comics Thread

He is? Oh. I thought he was just doing that “Cry for Justice” miniseries that just started.

JLA still crap these days? Saw a sneak peek a couple of weeks ago of Hal laying down the law, seemed pretty interesting at that point.

indeed.

I’m a junkie, so here’s a breakdown of what I read and the cost.

Teen Titans $4
Green Lantern Corps $3
Outsiders $3
Brave and the Bold $3
Secret Six $3
Young Avengers $4
Runaways $4
Kick Ass $4
Booster Gold $4
Batman and Robin $3

Minis:
Hellboy: Wild Hunt $3
Ambush Bug Year None $3
Power Pack (Haven’t bought this in a while)
Legion of 3 Worlds $4
Umbrella Academy $3

I think those prices are correct. But I’m not buying more than a few $4 books a week, so it’s not hitting me too hard.

Yeah, he’ll be on the regular series w/ Bagley in October.

And Are_you_okay?, that JLA you saw with Hal is just the Cry For Justice mini series. I think the regular JLA is not so interesting

I’m so getting this…

I’m down to check out Tony Daniel on Batman in October, I do wish he wasn’t going solo, but it was only a matter of time before Winnick resumed making DG look like a bitch…and we can’t have Batman looking like a bitch or DG in general for that matter.

I think Daniel has a good has a good handle on the characters he used in BftC so I think everything should be all good.

Read half of my haul from today… kinda disappointed in Wednesday Comics. It doesn’t seem to work, especially the first issue since each story has almost nothing happening as they’re all set ups for stories. Not to mention the fact that since they are all one-page stories, there is not a lot of content, at all. I understand the concept, but I feel that the execution is poor… especially when I’m paying 3.99 an issue. Not sure how many weeks I’m going to give this one.

This week’s Green Lantern was Blackest Night’s prologue, pretty much just sets the stage for the Black Lantern corp and shows the 1st BL getting his ring. Nice setup.

Batman was decent, but I’m not feeling Bagley’s art style for this series. Anxiously awaiting Tony Daniel’s start…

Kind of not related, but Geoff Johns is on twitter and I’ve been following him for a while. Some of the antics include the fact that he was invited to the TF2 premiere, counted down to it on twitter, raced to get there cause he was late, then the guards at the theater laughing at him cause the premiere already happened the previous day.

I don’t know if he’s taking pot-shots at Marvel, but if you hadn’t heard, Cap America’s return from the dead also deals with being “trapped in time”, like Batman… Here is a series of tweets involving that:

Sorry, I found it funny.

That is just all kinds of disturbing…but funny as hell.

I feel like rereading McD’s JL series, I found his run to be OK and I rather liked the JSA and JL team up.
Anyways World of New Krypton #5= Fantastic.

Myself I enjoyed Wednesday Comics a lot. It was just like getting the Sunday Newspaper and reading all of the comics in color. Also the strips were HUGE themselves like they used to be from the 60s on down, nowadays they’ll cram like 5 strips on a page and the daily editions will cram even more than that. The artwork on the Superman strip was amazing. The Supergirl strip gave me a laugh. Anyway I thought it was cool and I get a whole bunch of heroes in one book without reading JLA heh. I wish it would last longer than 12 issues though.

Judd Winick on Batman was gawd awful (Dick Grayson gets his ass kicked as soon as you open the book, JESUS RICE… Can you stop punking Dick Grayson Judd please???) and this was not Bagley’s best work. I don’t know if Bagley is really tired or the inker is messing his stuff up but the pages don’t live up to the work he did on Trinity. I guess I will just wait for Tony Daniel’s run and hope for the best.

Red Robin was entertaining once again.

in BLACKEST NIGHT!!!1

I was a big fan of the ORIGINAL “Adventure” Comics because of the Legion.

I’m a Ferro Lad fan, so I’m collecting a lot of that early Jim Shooter stuff.

but, seeing that preview of “Adventure #1” (I think it’s bullshit that they’re starting over from 1. They’d never pull this shit with Detective or Action), I will be picking it up. Bart just cracks me up in that preview.

wow just read gl 42 real dope issue. larfleeze is cool as fuck but damn that ending pissed me off so hard. Cant believe the guardians shitted on the blue lanterns like that, actually I can believe it from the way they been acting lately.

bout to read gl 43

Wednesday Comics - It turned out to be Bruce Wayne Batman in the Batman strip. Bruce showed up in the Superman strip too. Awesome pencils! :lovin: Dick Grayson was in the house in the Teen Titans strip as OG Nightwing.

I’m liking the Flash strips too. On the same page one strip focuses on Flash while another focuses on Iris and both of them are telling different parts of the same story. And… Flash time traveled 5 minutes back from one strip to the other to talk to himself? Neat stuff.

In the Wonder Woman strip, what’s up with her messing around with Japanese Folklore and Amaterasu’s name being dropped? Someone at DC has been playing Okami.

lol jeez blackest night was fucked up. Them dudes dont play.

Blackest Night was great! Wednesday Comics is starting to grab my interest a little more, too. And Tales of the Lantern Corps was decent… Best part was the intro of the Indigo Tribe.

question for Blackest Night

[details=Spoiler]
I remember Dan Didio saying that its likely that the skeleton in Bruce’s grave is not his, but if its not, who’s skull does Black Hand have?[/details]

met geoff johns over the weekend. great guy. talked a lot about blackest night, and even named the main lanterns of each corps. i’ll take a pic of the variant to tales of the corps 1 where he named them, and post it as well as other shit he signed for me

lol, my thoughts exactly though I haven’t watched The Shield yet =(

If they ever make a GLC animated series, Season 1 should be an extended version of the animated movie (with a few alterations here and there)
