damn I just read flash rebirth and have no idea whats going on. I guess I should finally start 52 weeks and work my way up to the present. I have it laying around getting dust.
Just discovered Grant Morrison’s JLA, read through Rock of Ages.
Where have you been all these years? hugs books :woot:
^Wait’ll you read his Doom Patrol & Animalman series.
I hear a lot of hype on Doom Patrol, Animal Man, and Seven Soldiers. What are those about anyway? Sell me on those real quick.
So far for Morrison:
LOOOOVE All-Star Superman, JLA
Love Batman and Son/Black Glove/RIP
like parts of New X-men
Let me put it like this: If Morrison’s JLA ‘blew your mind away’, Doom Patrol and Animalman will do the exact same thing.
Start with Animalman since Morrison wrote it from issues 1-26 and can be found in TPB form.
Best way I can describe Doom Patrol is that they mostly deal with the most extreme and bizarre stuff you’ll never even consider possible. It’s just a wonder of literature.
The only problem DP might have is that Morrison wrote it from #19 to 65, the past events in this series don’t really matter much. I’ll explain more later on (got class)
lol, me too.
Bart Allen is back and so is Barry.
EVERYTHING IS WRONG.
I also bought comics for the first time in like 2 years. OMG.
What have you been doing?
I barely read mainstream superhero comics anymore. Not on some “I hate superhero comics” snooty thing, but I’m just not a fan of new whose dick is bigger crossover fight going on between the two companies.
I just bought Fables trades and had random trade binges.
I want to catch up on Johns GL run, all the crap Brubaker is doing, and I am happy that a new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is about to come out.
Haven’t seen last night’s episode of Big Bang Theory on CBS but they talked about who should be the next Batman after Battle For The Cowl!
http://blog.newsarama.com/2009/04/13/battle-for-the-cowl-hits-cbs-primetime/
I personally find Battle for the Cowl more of a ‘character development’ sort of series in which it just pushes the character to the decision that they have to take on the mantle of Batman.
Oh and Sano, umm does Big Bang Theory ‘discuss’ various comic book series currently being published for most of the series?
I think this is the first time they’ve discussed a current storyline, but fairly sure they talk about comics a lot. I don’t watch it all the time, but there was a Halloween episode where all five of the roommates dressed up as Flash. One of the characters, Chuck has a poster of Y The Last Man in his bedroom.
In the show OC they talked a lot about comics too since one of the kids was a big fan of them. Naturally one of the writers of that series Heinberg turned around and wrote comics later, mainly Young Avengers. And the main kid - Ephram I think his name was - from Everwood was really into manga but he stopped talking about it after a few seasons. He talked about the Ghost In The Shell 2 manga coming out right around the time it was being released in English.
^Ah, OK. I liked some of the scenes in the ep., but this didn’t feel like a series I would watch
I freaking HATE Sheldon, what a jackass, his roomie with the glasses, however, is more interesting than him.
I really liked the situation where they had to take her to the comic book shop: "What comic book would you get for a 13 year old boy?"
Hmm what 1 TPB would you guys give a 13 year old boy? Choose 1 for Marvel and 1 for DC.
Depends on the kid. If they want something dark, then The Dark Knight Returns and Kraven’s Last Hunt. If they want something where they have to use their brain, then All Star Superman and New X-Men by Morrison. Or if they want something fun, then X-Statix and Young Justice. Maybe Kingdom Come and Heinberg’s Young Avengers too. This is tough…
I cant wait until Mongol and Sinestro meet lol.
@Sano- Tru dat, good choices though.
I’d personally decide between Spidey/Red Sonja or Ultimate Spidey.
Yeah both of those are good.
REBELS #3 was good, GL Corps. was good & Action comics was good.
DC entertained me this week ^_^.
soranik has daddy issues
I kind of figured Soranik was Sinestro’s daughter.Have any of you guys seen the covers for the upcoming Green Lantern Blackest Night?
I am avoiding as much spoilers to Blackest Night as much as possible.
