Didio REALLY hates 80s DC huh?
Hopefully BoP will come back (GAIL SIMONE PLZ!) and Robin will continue later on.
BTW I pity the fool who doesn’t read Jonah Hex.

Aight here’s what I read recently-
New Krypton Special- The Guardian-
[details=Spoiler]Hmmm… 7734= hELL…
Jim starts to tell Jimmy about his past; how he was cloned, how he saw his biological ‘father’ murdered for discovering his clones, how regained the memories that were locked away in him when he became the Guardian, and how he learned of the Government’s plan to kill Supes.
Years ago when he regained his memory, Guardian went to a facility owned by the government to find that they were creating clones of the original Guardian to combat Superman. …but before he found the clones, he met a creature trapped in a tube that was wearing what seemed to be a Legion’s ring. The creature telepathically tells him that he will be alright and that Guardian can continue with what he came for.
Anyway upon seeing how deformed the clones were, he killed them all by burning down the facility. Well all, save the girl he is living with.
Issue ends with Jim and his daughter traveling to Metropolis and seeing the Kryptonians arrive in the city.[/details]
An OK tie-in issue, but I believe it is integral to what Luthor and Lane are up to.
Secret Six #3; READ THIS BOOK YOU UNEDUCATED CRETINS!
[details=Spoiler]The team finds out the location of the Card and go to retrive it from a mansion. They are trailed, by 3 other villains of which Cheetah is one of them.
They find the card in a safe, but before they can leave, Cheetah arrives and tries to bargain getting the Card. When they refuse the team battles her. Their fight is cut short, when Cheetah’s 2 other cohorts…or OK just the lightning guy attacks the mansion to get the card.
“Cheetah’s got it” is fucking hilarious XD
So anyway, the team manages to escape from the mansion with the card, and asks Tarantula what is written on it.
Tarantula tells them that the card was made by Neron, and the words on it read "Get out of Hell free."
That does not sound too good.[/details]
Terror Titans #2-
[details=Spoiler]Well this is one bloody book; Clock King kills 2 more of the main leaders of the DS Club in a rather grotesque manner.
The tournament starts as teen metahumans fight each other serverly injuring themselves (how the hell did Terra get into all this?)
Clock King later sends Dreadbolt and Presuader to go get another teen meta they’ve located who goes by the code name Red X. DB and Presuader split up and DB finds Red X and attacks him, thinking he knoced him out. Unfortunately for him, it’s not really Red X they were sent after; it’s DB’s father; Bolt.[/details]
Superman and Supergirl: Maelstorm #1-
[details=Spoiler]I don’t care how strong one’s hearing is, how the fuck can you hear voices in space?
Ugh. So anyway, this woman from Apokolips, Maelstorm, wants to win over Darkseid by killing Supes, so she steals a Boom Tube, goes to Earth, but gets in a fight with Kara while Supes is away in space.
She totally beats the living hell out of Kara and destroys buildings and stuff.
Supes later comes in and sends her back to Apokolips via her Boom Tube.
We get some pages of Supes consolidating Kara (as if we haven’t seen this countless times in her series so far) on what happened, and the issue ends with Maelstorm being punished for stealing the Tube by having to survive the Terrorium.[/details]
Not a very good first issue, but it can improve.
Vixen #2-
[details=Spoiler]Well talk Deus Ex Machinas. Vixen can’t heal the wounds she got, assuming that Kwesi is magically imbued. As Kwesi is going to deliver the final blow, he disappears in a flash.
On of Kwesi’s men Sia, helps Vixen leave the village to heal herself. Vixen arrives at an abandoned village where Jackals have followed her. She manages to use her totem to scare them off and goes to sleep on a tree.
The next day she decides to go back and finish things with Kwesi, however her wounds have yet to heal. She considers calling in the League, but decides not to, leaving her communicator to be found by a monkey that’s chewing on it and accedintly informing the League of Vixen’s current whereabouts.
As she’s walking through some plains, she catches sight of a Lion that is out hunting. She tries to escape it, but faints due to her wounds. She wakes up later to be in the presence of the lion and a frair who seems to be the owner of the lion[/details]
Yeah I heard about DJ Grayson getting scrapped. But it seems like they still want to do something to fill the Smallville slot if goes bye bye (please oh please put that show out of its misery). So how about Deathstroke, The Wonder Years? I can’t wait for the very special Christmas episode. “I want a BB Gun!” “You’ll put your eye out!” :clown:
Oh shi~
batman brave and the bold will start in a few days, get hype!
Terror Titans #2
?
[details=Spoiler]
I was excited when they said “Red X”, cause I thought they were going to introduce him into comics continuity. :-/[/details]
So, I just discovered the joy of checking out GN’s at Public Libraries and being able to have home delivery from other branches (my closest branch doesn’t have all the titles I want). What should I pick up? I didn’t catch Sinestro Corps Wars when it came out so I started reading that (love it so far). What are essentials or things I should check out?
My recommendations include-
Vixen: Return of the Lion (new mini series that just recently started, and is very good)
Jonah Hex (the current ongoing series is pure awesomeness)
Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps (I personally didn’t like some of GLC’s arcs, but it has its moments)
Fables (if you like Vertigo series)
Superman and Action Comics are pretty good (Get the recent Action Comics arc, Brainiac it is as good as Sinestro Corps. Wars!)
The current Outsiders series
Justice League and/or Justice Society; their recent stories weren’t all THAT good, but the earlier stories are enjoyable
Secret Six! (Can’t believe I forgot about this!) First try and get Villains United as that is their 1st appearance as a team and to get to know the characters better. 3 issues so far but very entertaining.
Blue Beetle; I heard this is a good action series, read some of it and its OK
Manhunter; can’t believe I forgot about this one too! It is rumored to be canceled soon (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!), but the early collected stories are all kinds of awesome, you will be hooked to it from the first arc!
Some of the above have been collected in TPBs.
Other TPBs that may interest you-
‘Formerly known as the Justice League’ and its sequel ‘I can’t believe it’s not the Justice League’ are hilarious and entertaining, Keith Giffen is a genius.
Batgirl and Robin: Fresh Blood a very nice TPB starring Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) & Robin (Tim Drake) as they begin their vigilantism in Bluudhaven (mini-Gotham city), great art and action.
Grant Morrison’s AnimalMan; READ THIS! If you want to see literature and fiction/fantasy at its finest READ THIS AND ANYTHING ELSE BY MORRISON!
Grant Morrison’s Doom Patrol; READ THIS! If you want to see literature and fiction/fantasy at its finest READ THIS AND ANYTHING ELSE BY MORRISON!
All-New Atom; eh I’m a fan of Gail Simone, but you’ll prob. like this if you’re into whacky/nutty story telling.
Hmm that’s about it from the top of my head
get deadpool
You mean Ambush Bug? Don’t think they collected any of his stories on TPB yet.
no i meant deadpool. it doesn’t matter that this is a DC thread
It does matter, that’s like someone coming into the Marvel thread and recommending The Flash.
Oswald from the Drew Carey show IS Batman in the new Brave and the Bold cartoon. *“Living in sin with the Joker’s grin 'cuz GOTHAM ROCKS! GOTHAM ROCKS!” *:clown:
Yeah that show is gonna start airing in a few days; GET MAJOR HYPE!
BoP. Manhunter, and Blue Beetle all cancelled= DC lost my business. It wasn’t that much business, but that’s final. I’m going to find some children’s hospital to give away all my comics too.
20 questions with Dan Didio. Talks about the Nightwing, Robin and Birds of Prey cancellations, DC Continuity, the Vertigo line being seperate from the DCU, etc. Interesting!
^I will check that out soon, but Sano…why you giving off a vibe that you’re excited about the cancellation of Nightwing, Robin and Birds of Prey?
Nightwing 150; awesome issue
[details=Spoiler]Enraged at the death of Carol, Harvey…or 2-face (they should have separate fonts for both of them to differentiate them IMO), wants to scar NY by using blimps to toss acid on the city, but Nightwing succeeds in stopping them.
That’s just it in a nutshell, but the story itself was well paced with some great action and art.[/details]
Strongly recommend getting this issue even if you’ve never read a Nightwing issue before.
Action Comics 871
[details=Spoiler]
2 of Zod’s soldiers are walking through NY, disgusted by the humans that they must socilize with. Cut to General Lane leading Luthor out of his cell to see Braniac in hopes of using him to figure a way to kill the Kryptonians.
This IMO is my fav. part of the issue; Lane knows how danagerous Luthor is and doesn’t trust him, but is his best bet at using Brainiac to kill the Kryptonians.
Cut back to Doomsday as Supes, Kara and some Kryptonians try and stop him. They take him away from earth to the moon whereon he is killed.
Fortunately there weren’t many casualties.
Issue ends with the 2 soldiers finding the Phantom Zone gizmo, but before they can use it, they are stopped by…Firebird and Nightwing of Krypton![/details]
Green Lantern Corps. 30
[details=Spoiler]Issue begins with a young infant crying. A Ring begins to state that the Lanter of Sector 1067 is dead and begins looking for a replacement. The infant is shown next to the dead Lantern who seems to resemble it; it is its father. A figure begins to talk to the infant, telling it to calm down and that soon it will forget it ever had any parents. The figure is Kryb, a horrifying mosnter with a cage on its back filled with infant children, all of which seem to be the infants of Green Lanterns!
Cut to Guy’s party as they arrive at Zamaron so that the Guardians would convince them to stop using the power of Love and create their own Corps, after some debate and bickering, the Zamarons inform the Guardians that they will not stop, and the Guardians leave it at that and leave Zamaron.
Meanwhile, Kyle and a party of Lanterns arrive at Sector 1111 to respond to a distress call from one of the Sector House there. Kryb has killed more Lanterns and abducted infants, and the Lanterns fight her to save the babies.
Upon their return from Zamaron, the Guardians write a new law that states “…physical relationships and love between Green Lanterns is forbidden within the Corps.”[/details]
Wasn’t giving off any vibe. Or not trying to. Well sorry about that… Just saying what the article was about and stuff.
I don’t collect Robin or Birds of Prey. As for Nightwing, I’m all for him being the next Batman if that’s what happens, even if it’s for a short time. At least Dick Grayson will get a chance to defeat Deathstroke for once or beat up a major DC villain which never happens, and be written by people like Mark Waid and Geof Johns who love the character. These are things that Dan Didio and higher ups in DC have physically blocked believe it or not because they don’t like Nightwing. Myself I like Nightwing, but I like Dick Grayson more so it will be good to see him step his game up.
Besides if you read the article, all of the characters from the canceled books are going to be playing big parts in the DCU in the months to come.
And yeah, those cancellations could be all misdirection so we won’t know who will be the next Batman. So they cancel said books and then reboot the ones they want to later on, issue #1 of anything sells.
There’s more rumors floating that after that Superman storyline with however many Kryptonians are floating around the Earth, the next Nightwing will be Kryptonian like the original one was.
^Just messin’ with ya Sano Yeah it’d be nice to see Rick as Batman, I mean would Rick behave as Bruce as would he be just Nightwing’s personality in Batma’s garb?
Dude you just spoiled Action Comics 871
Well I didn’t read it, so…
You should, issue was pretty good.
…and man Manhunter canceled? That book was awesome >_<
Gonna re-read the series in the next few days then make a thread about it to inform members of this awesome series.
I mean heck Manhunter=DC’s Punisher…in a way.
