Im also realy looking forward for RIP more than anything else
Whats the wonder woman story all about
Some people (Greek Gods? Zero issue seems to imply that) think that Wonder Woman and the Amazons are a failed project, so they are making male Amazons (Didio has jokingly called them Manazons but Gail Simone hates that name. ) and a male version of Wonder Woman (we have no idea what his name will be) to beat up Wonder Woman. :wow:
Damm sounds like they are running out of ideas
Ok, I’m gonna make a confession here. I tend not to read DC. I’ve just always considered myself too far behind in DC canon to appreciate it. But DCU 0 was 50 cents, and I’d be a fool not to try it. So I did. I think I’m gonna start reading DC more…
Does Batman RIP start next issue of Batman? If so, count me in. That looks fantastic.
Is there anything I should particularly read to prepare myself for Blackest Night? That looked cool.
I can’t help but feel that the last section of the book was a bit too similar to the Hood’s antics in New Avengers. I like the religious zealotry angle though. “CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH?!?”
Yeah coming out may 14th but you realy need to read the all Grant Morisson run (or atleast from the Batman and son arc)
for GL you need to read the Sinestro corps war and the stuff after that
and yeah Libra preaching was my fav part too
Man, Blackest Night is gonna be good. I don’t even care about Final Crisis anymore.
Are Johns and Morrison going to take turns writing the Flash or something?
Flash Stuff
Spoiler
I dunno how I’d feel about Barry Allen coming back. He and Uncle Ben are ALWAYS supposed to stay dead. I guess since Bucky is now Captain America, all bets are off. I’d accept it if it meant a Barry Allen Flash series written by Johns/Morrison
ok so i just bought the remaining countdown issues that i lacked #5 , 2 and 1
and also dc universe 0 im too exited to read em
are there gonna be more than one dc universe #0 issue ?
Dont get exited about reading Countdown lol
And no there is only one issue of DCU-0 it like a big teaser not something that can have more than one issue
This is what i HATE about DC these days, they LACK marketing…
IMO Marvel’s “big tier” stories (WWH, Invasion, annihilation, and even Civik War) aren’t any better than the DC crossovers (I have issues with modern storytelling method in comics nowadays generally) but at loeast they have superb marketing and presentation which makes me wanna read it, and from a business perspective that’s what it’s all about DC comics no matter how much you can argue about the story just feels it’s there just to be a comic book.
why do all the big DC cross-overs like Inf Crisis and now Final Crisis has to have their own offspring mini-series (Villains united, Legion of 3 worlds, Countdown etc.) Identity Crisis did well on it’s own and yes the initially underhyped Sinestro Corps absolutely makes Countdown look like a B*tch.
WTF is Amazon’s attack.
The Biggest problem with DC is that they have contended themselves with being the number 2 comics, and marvel simce the 60’s SUCCESSFULLY crafted the stigma that they are bland and boring (Marketing 101 “Creating dissatisfaction”) and DC has been struggling through the decades to get rid of this (Rellevancy in the 70’s and the Post-Crisis Modernized [Marvelized] Universe in the 80’s and still failed)
Marvel is now dominating the Movie/Comic Market Share and their dominance over the Cartoons has long faded with The Teen Titans/Legion Formula IMO being poathetic compared to the Paul Dini/Bruce Timm era…
DC from the silver age could have EASILY reversed the effects by creating the SAME dissatisfaction factor on Atlas/Timely (which is despite better characterization, Marvel Plots are very simple/makes you think less/and relies on continued storyline setting which can be confusing in the long run as opposed to DC structural plots at the time in which if you strip away all the hokey/childish dialogue is something that really would make you think, and is non-replaceable with the other media of storytelling of their time)
IMO DC better put more effort into making their “B” heroes look as credible as the Marvel “B” Heroes. but although it’s boing to be very difficult for them to do it now with all the other things young people nowadays would rather spoend tiume and money on.
Big advise DC get better marketing and DO NOT contend with being number two… and maybe just maybe I’ll be interested again in anything outside Supes, Bats, and the JLA (Of course that includes Flash and GL).
ok ive read them all now and I must say… countdown is a big letdown. ive been a fan but ive bought the comics in bulks and not followed it weekly so ive read it kinda like a collected hardcover, i think thats a better way of reading em. i would imagine the frustration of picking up a copy of countdown every week and finding out nothing new really happens , there was some good elements to countdown as a whole, but after reading trough all of them i was left feeling dissapointed.(almost as dissapointed as that IGN guy that slaughters countdown with his critics every week). I think DC could have brought more exitement if they would have done more with the charachters, the main charachters of countdown arent all that exiting to me to tell you the truth. I was picturing some big showdown with some cool charachters , but instead there was some killing of some major charachters , and bad dialogue and mediocre artwork. But i guess you cant expect a weekly issue comic to come out epic…and after all countdown is a prelude to the third and Final Crisis so i really hope that one delivers on a higher scale.
DC universe #0 did a good job of building the exitement tho. cant wait to see Superboy/man Prime kick ass again. i think he acctually had some of the best sceenes in countdown while reeking havock on several earths. Libra seems like a cool charachter , but that were Darkseids eyes if i ever saw them on the Final Crisis poster right ? (the one were it says the day evil won)
Well, some are speculating that it was Orion’s real face and that he takes his father’s place, but…

[details=Spoiler]
This was released today, a preview of Final Crisis and a sneak peek at Darkseid’s new character design for FC.[/details]
And on the topic of presentation, check out the covers for the first issue of FC. I think it looks great and will actually leap off the shelf and into my hands when it comes out.
k, the Flash is broken and all that…but what is his weakness? like that one thing that will always beat him when he is in superspeed? Is it taking things for granted? (as seen in Identity Crisis by the ownage at the hands of the Terminator)
lol imma shortcut vicious and people and say rocks are his one weakness lol.
doesnt he run/vibrate through them?
In Identity Crisi, he gets owned by Dr Light as well, who exclaims “thats it! ive finally figured it out, ure one true weakness!” (something like that, its in the Sue Dibny rape moment), though it seemed like all he did was dodge him???
is the Aztek series that morrison/millar did any good? there is a tpb out now
I only read the first 8 or 10 issues. If you are a fan of Morrison or Millar, then you’ll find plenty to enjoy about Aztek. It’s sort of a… Scottish take on the traditional superhero coming of age story. Only with minor dosages of LSD and other inhalants. Art was pretty nice, too. Overall, for a '90s book, it’s aged well. You can sort of see how they made Aztek as kind of a reaction against all the lame superhero comics being pumped out at the time. And if you’re a Morrison JLA fan, then the Aztek book is just that much more interesting.
trials of shazam is fucking awesome
depending on what writer you get…you can have
option 1: speed force spider senses…where he automatically phases through shit by the speedforce uncounciously activating to save his ass.
option 2: he trips and falls and we laugh
option 3: runs around it.
Pained Auron: i’m excited for that new shazam by mike kunkel(herobear).
finally going back and taking good heros and making them kid friendly…and not the traditional guys like batman or superman. i’m very much a big supporter of making more kid friendly comics that dont nessisarily need to be all disney sugar coated but i remember as a kid the comics i read were alot more tame and kid friendly. especially spidey…when i got to my teens it started hittin really hard. but when i was lil you’d get ur really serious storyline here and there but the overall feel was kid friendly.
