DC books this week quickly -
Batman - The plot thickens dun dun DUUUUN! I still don’t know who these silver age characters are but it’s a good read, Robin calling all of them Batman rip offs was pretty funny!
Countdown - Zatanna and Mary Marvel merger over no say it ain’t so… another villain came out in the end ha ha! I quite like the villain origins they are doing in the book this time around.
This actually sounds very interesting. If they do this, it’ll be a pretty ballsy move. This is a little bigger than the Ninja Turtles.
Hopefully they don’t look all creepy like the characters in Polar Express.
That would be Eclipso.
Countdown
It’s Deathstroke. Apparently Poison Ivy is on his payroll… “WOMAN GO MAKE ME A VEGAN SAMWICH!” :looney:
oh.
even cooler.
I have only read up til last week, so I didn’t know.
And now might just be the perfect time for me to start again. For the first time in quite a while, my patience wore thin enough that I broke my standard “wait for the trade” policy.
Who wants to guess the title of the comic that made me break down and feed the direct market beast once again?
uh oh.
hmm, gonna have to guess: “Flash”?
Hal Jordan? A homicidal nutcase. Kyle Rayner? A dumb rookie. John Stewart? One word…Xanshii. SCREW those BUMS! Any GL movie better feature Guy freakin’ Gardner.
I’m gonna cosign this only because Batman knocking Guy Gardner out with ONE PUNCH TO THE FACE would be one of the greatest moments in cinematic history.
Man, if there ever were a GL movie, they should go all out. They should have the entire GL Corps and just overwhelm the average viewer. We gotta have Kilowog, Tomar Re, Mogo, that guy who looks like a giant cucumber, the guy who looks like Humpty Dumpty, and G’nort. People should be watching the movie and wondering who the fuck are all these weird aliens.
^ I agree.
It can be done. They did it in the Justice League series all the friggin’ time. Open up the movie with Hal getting the ring, bring him to Oa, a little backstory, and voila. It’s on.
It is a precarious thing to do a movie about a team of characters, but a GL Corps flick would be a great way of breaking free of the usual superhero movie formula.
And Guy Gardner had better show up just long enough to get clocked by the Batman, because I don’t want to see his face again.
Hmmmm what would the story be, i think they should show a lil backstory and start off with GL corps vs sinestro corps that pwn hard
Here’s how I would do it: introduce Sinestro, but only set him up as the bad guy in the next flick. Since there are so many Green Lanterns to choose from, I’d make the film episodic, in a sense–it’s a series of somewhat self-contained story bits with a larger overall arc, like Pulp Fiction, Superman, or the Sin City movie. It’ll provide some cool action, as well as introduce the audience to all the big names in the GL Corps and give some insight into who they are. Segments would include the death of Abin Sur, a history of the Oans and the GLs, Sinestro being cast out of the Corps, and so forth. The next flick would be the big clash with Sinestro.
Of course, that’s just my idea.
Also, I am a crackhead and forgot to come clean about this: I’m buying All Star Superman. It’s the most exciting mainstream series I’ve happened across in a damn long time, and I’m tired of waiting for the second collection.
I expect I’ll resume my stubborn ways once the Morrison/Quitely run is over.
How bout All-Star Batman and Robin???
Had Frank drawn it, I might have been able to get into it. I think the disconnect between his writing and Jim Lee’s art sank the book before it even had a chance.
All Star Superman is fantastic, I’ve been reading it since day one, and eagerly await each new issue.
You bash Guy Gardner, and I’m thinking “this guy’s a dope”…and then you write something like this. I’m a huge Morrison fanboy, and All Star Superman is the best thing he’s done since Frankenstein.
I dropped New X-Men like a rock when their run ended.
