DBZ: Sparking! / Budokai Tenkaichi

I’m not taking his side…but why don’t you show us anyway? I also would like to see a master-level B3 versus vid that isn’t poke poke poke. We’re not so stupid that we won’t be able to recognize a high level of skill, and that nobody’s poking away at each other. I would LOVE to see a vid like this. Unless you can’t find any…

Are those then handled in the “mash like hell” fashion of the Super Butouden games on SNES to see who wins? Beam duels were easily my favorite part of those games.

Yes.
There is also a physical version of beam struggles (usually done when two people who use physical blast moves on each other connect). Also, if you send someone flying and you chase them with a physical blast two move (not everybody has these), and they recover before you hit them, you might also activate those DBZ fight sequences. And if you win, you send the opponent flying and you get them with a physical blast 2 move. Or they might recover quickly and evade it.

Ah, I think I saw those in the video trag had put in the first post and I was wondering how they worked, as well. Thanks for the info.

During the “mash the analogs in circles” sequence, you can also boost your power by hitting L2. That drains whatever remaining Ki you have into your efforts. However, once the struggle is over, you will be dizzy (… yeow). You can really see that power boost give you an additional edge during the fight as well. It’s all about timing as to when to activate that final boost. You don’t want to do it too early and have your opponent’s boost override yours. Of course, don’t do it too late either!

Damn, that sounds sweet. I’m definitely going to have to check this game out when it gets released. Thanks for the info!

I want to see some B3 Mr. Satan v Omega Shenron match vids.

I too would like to see those good match vids.

you do realize that i dont even have to be close to you to perform the force field glitch right? all i need is 1 ki bar to active the glitch, then taunt and take away your bars, then shoot out like 10 regular ki blast, and then charge after your ass. after that, perform the glitch again and your ass is frozen again. so how are you gonna touch me?

like i say before, all this arguement is pointless considering you talk and talk about how deep the game is and show nothing for it. show me some high level match videos to prove your depth point, other wise your just talking smack. now that you mention that goku can beat the force field glitch, then why dont you show me some match videos of you beasting that force field glitch like crazy too. im also starting to think that you cant back up your depth point cause it seems like your always adding another excuse to not show the videos. show the videos to shoryuken community and all of us here will judge its gameplay depth, it wont be just me, i can gaurentee you that much. so bring on the DBZB3 videos.

Your point here was…? I swear, some people can’t even flame correctly nowadays, they just type in bad grammar, spell some words wrong, then slap a random smiley on it and call it a day. Even MegamanDS had better shit than you.

My props go out to the excellent music choice for the gameplay footage. Makes me want to re-watch Hajime no Ippo again or play Victorious Boxers

Really? So when I’m pressing the offence on you at the beginning of a match, you can activate the glitch while getting hit? No, I don’t think so.
Goku can transform while defending a combo. If you try to taunt while defending a combo, then you get hit. I don’t think this requires visual presentation.

Oh really? I suppose that every discussion of a game’s depth requires visual presentation. Where have you been lately?

Really? I suppose people who debate a games depth without constantly showing or referring to match vids are also talking smack

Everything in your eyes needs visual proof. I’m sorry to hear that the only way you can learn is from visual representation. I thought you would at least be able to benefit from theoretical discussion, but I’m obviously wrong.

I’m starting to think that you want me to show match videos because I’ve proven your points wrong so easily. Match videos are not the deciding factor of a game’s depth.

So, you think a game’s depth can be judged just from match videos? You obviously need to rethink your opinions…

Trag can you post some vids? I wanna see some high level play even tho it just came out hahah.

ZOMMFG! Spralwers, you skiped my question! That’s it. I officially hate you… J/K

Is this game worth buying? I mean, do you own it? Does it have potential? Because being a college student, I’m kinda short on money these days. I wonder if I should wait for SCIII instead.

Quick B3 question: Do think…

  1. Piccolo>Dabura
  2. Dabura>Piccolo
  3. Both should be in a “Tip Top Tier”

i played it last night its the shiet, the one thing i have to mention is the camara doesn’t always square up in vs. mode so u could be getting owned and u cant see to block or counter. that happend once in the 20 matches i played.

evilee, if you are short on money, I don’t recommend it. I especially don’t recommend it if you have no one to play versus with consistently. The game is much much better in versus mode as compared to single-player.

Don’t even worry about who’s better in the game. Regardless of what the GF B3 community says, they’ve proven time and time again they don’t know what they are talking about… I mean, there isn’t even a true tournament scene for B3. They refuse to make new combos so as to prevent tiers from separating further… wtf?

So… anyway…

… it had to be done… the true death of Budokai 3.

Now, can we all get back on topic and talk about Sparking|BT?! YAY!

There’s a thread for B3, maybe we should use that for B3 stuff.

Amen to that. I do enjoy B3, but as to it being a “deep, rewarding fighting experience” I can’t really say. I mean, it’s a deep game, but as compared to other fighters I think its long term depth is lacking. That being said, there are many “deep” 3D fighters that I don’t enjoy, but I really think B3 has a huge fun-factor.

That all being said, does Sparking! really play like Virtual On, or is that just an off-the-wall rumor (or has it already been addressed in this large thread and I didn’t notice)?

He won’t show any cuz he can’t FIND any. If all people see at high level play is a pokefest…well, then that’s all we have to go on. Spralwers really can’t say shit without offering proof…and he’s done nothing but talk. Spralwers, I like how you say even if we saw the vids, we’d still not recognize the game wasn’t a pokefest. That’s french for “This game is nothing BUT a pokefest, and I can’t find evidence against that…but I can provide unsubstantiated trash-talk!” Cute. Bring the vids or just quit acting like an 11 year old suburbanite. Your posts smack of pre-pubescent e-punk. Grow up and just show us this shit, will you?

OMG dude, do you seriously have to come up with tons of excuses just to not show us some high level B3 match videos?? i told you already dude, that arguing with you is pointless if you cant even provide high level match videos. why cant you back up your own depth points or are you avoiding it cause you know you got nothing. let me guess, your next post is going to be another excuse not to show some videos and just ramble on again on how match videos do not determine its depth.

if it didnt determine its gameplay depth, then why is shoryuken community still showing high level fighting game matches on this board? match videos can actually tell you how a player uses his character or the mind games, setups, combos, etc. match videos can even tell you how your playing and what your doing wrong. you can even learn from match videos like i did. I never even knew that clockwork was using a strider/doom team when i saw one of his match videos and i got an idea of how he was using his tactics, thus watching the way he play tells me how to use my strider/doom properly. if match videos wasnt a deciding factor, then shouldnt Evolution stop selling their Evo DVDs???

think about it, hearing about Daigo’s parry from someone sounds tight, but watching the parry being pull off is even more amazing, why because you just witness something very spectacular instead of hearing about it. another example would be, if SF4 was coming out, would you rather see a video of its gameplay or just hear about its gameplay?? seriously dude, you got nothing to back up your depth points, so stop making excuses and give up already. you also do realize that your the only one defending B3’s depth and yet the only thing you got is excuses after excuses after excuses, so stop paraphrasing your excuses.

and you dont know anything about the force field glitch. ill even put money on the line to battle you in B2 just to prove to you that the force glitch is the most broken glitch in B2 without using a gameshark.

sprawler, if you know your right, then show us some of your high level match videos. you aint got nothing to loose because B3 has tons of depth that even beats out SC2. since you got nothing to loose and you can burn me badly, then why are you stuttering to show us some match videos???

I came here to check out some reviews of Sparking. I found some critiques, but this thread is mostly about B3 having depth or not…wtf? make a new thread!! lol

I saw the trailer of this game on gametrailers and I am impressed. I read that this plays like Virtual On and I remember enjoying that game on single player mode only. I never had anyone to play against me so I never experienced that type of versus gameplay.

I’m thinking its the same versus experience as a First-person shooter like Halo but you could fly and all the other cool stuff.
