If time is a concern, what if we axe the doubles tourney, and just do singles and state team tourneys? doubles and teams are sorta redundant, and teams seems like it’s going to be the biggest (and longest) draw.
3s is the most boring game in the history of the universe. The less time we spend playing it the better 
I wholly disagree. High level 3S Chun/Chun matches are no more boring than High level CvS2 Blanka/Blanka matches. In fact, due to the length of the sets, I’d venture to say that CvS2 > 3S in the snooze department. But that’s for a different thread entirely.
I suggest we run 3S singles and 5x5 state team tournies only. Perhaps bump up the entry fee for state teams to $5 per head? $25 per team x 4 teams = $100 grand prize to split among the 1st place team?
Hmmm… I kinda liked the idea of 2v2’s.
Maybe I’ll go to Mikado one day before they shut down where they run 1 man 2v2’s every weekend. That sounds like my cup of tea.
I like doubles too, especially since we ran it semi-SBO style last year at DBQ BBQ3, but doubles (presumeably with a same-state teammate) and state teams are sorta redundant, don’t you think?
CvS2 was hype at FRXI… rushdown N-groove vs P groove. But normally I’d agree that CvS2 and 3s are equally boring.
Andrew, yeah… I understand what you’re saying. Maybe it’s just me but I like team tourneys.
However it goes down, lots of casuals are a must.

Looooooooong after that crap heap, Smash, that is. Don’t feel like blocking low for a low attack? No problem!!! Aren’t quite good enough to nail combos? No problem!!! Do you like being invulnerable while entering the play screen, completely taking away whatever little pressure or offense your opponent had? 1 Guess!!! Or, do you just plain wanna see your seasoned, experienced fighter trip and fall while running on flat terrain? You got it!!! Play Smash, everyone – the only fighting game that’s only fun with a thousand people on the screen and a head full of acid.
I don’t really care that much about debating this game. My opinion’s pretty set, so defending it won’t really do much good. I’ve got the feeling that some people are gonna retaliate and try to write a novel for me about the game. lol Seriously, no offense, but I wouldn’t shit on that game even if it would sprout a magical vegetable that could cure world hunger AND disease.

Nope. Tried it, can’t get into it. I just find the game boring and uneventful; nothing cool happens at all. Blah, blah, throw a bomb, blah, blah, get hit by a giant laser from the background. Boring. BORING!!!
We could do that or have people draw numbers out of a hat (or randomly assign them with a computer). We would potentially have to so this after each round. For example, one team has 2 wins other other has 3. You’d have to assign numbers again to decide who plays who for the second set of matches. If one team sweeps or has 4 wins, the match ups are obvious.
If we decide a line up ahead of time, they must be double blind pick only revealed to a neutral judge ahead of time. If we did it this way, could we switch for each state vs state showdown?

First to 5 for $20 sounds good to me. I assume normal tournament rules apply:
– Winner keeps character.
– Old characters are allowed. Akuma is not.
– Double blind pick
We can do one character each for all matches if you like. It cuts down on the variety and counter-character tennis effect. If we do double blind pick and you (or I) get counter-character’ed from the start, it could be a lopsided series. I’ll leave it up to you though, either way is cool.

Understood, no problem. 3rd Strike really isn’t my game, I play it but I can’t really say I’m any good at it. If anyone else is still interested, hit me up.
One other random side question, why is CVS2 $3, when the other featured tournaments are $5? What would you guys all prefer? If I’m driving 5 hours down there to play, $2 more is no big deal to me.
