DBQ BBQ 4, 4/12, Dubuque, Iowa

if there isn’t any room for housing, wut would be the closest hotel to the place where the tourney is being held? its be and 3/4 other peeps…

you have me figured out! :crybaby:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

yeah man Iowa has like 8 or 9 people

the Marriott, Hampton Inn, Mainstay Suites are all pretty close to the tournament location. Just search those + Dubuque on google…

whoop! double post…

Hmmm, I don’t quite buy into this. I think this should be ran like any other 5 on 5 (*other than *just flat out round robin, every player vs every player) tournament, meaning if you win - you stay… if you lose - your next teammate goes up against the winnner until one team goes through all their players. The only way someone wouldn’t get to play a game in this format would be if someone goes on a crazy fucking OCV rampage (which would be cool anyway and deserves hella props) - and then it’d be the winning team’s players that possibly never had to play a game. Remember every losing team must have had every player in a match in order to lose, right?

I really think this is the only way it should be done - but I suppose we should really see what the majority of the players involved think about either format and go with the most accepted.

Id also rather have it regular team tourney format.

I, personally, think SBO style would be titties. Is that “regular” format that you guys are talking about?

Agreed. Should be the way to go.

Also, anyone who’s looking for a place to stay, I don’t think anyone’s actually staying here at my place yet. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I have cats, but they’re scared shitless of company, so they won’t bother ya, unless you’re allergic. Then you better have meds or a fuckton of Kleenex. No extra beds, so you’d be hitting up some floor space. And I live three blocks from Comic World.

I’d be happy with regular style teams. Less confusing, and more hype when Humbag runs through the entire Minnesota crew.

I forgot how to play this game.

I play TMNT Tourny Fighters as my main game now.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… breath …AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You should pick up Pretty Fighter as a secondary and maybe Justice League as your tertiary.

Wes:

I think ft5 for 10-20 sounds good.

20 really isnt set in stone for me though (FRXI cut me back a little bit) so I may have to drop to 10 or 15. Ill let you know.

If not 20 then a FT3 would be good as well although FT5 is funner (more games the better haha).

I say one character as well.

Anyone else:

I may do like 5-10 dollar 3s games as well. Any takers?

Not that that’s actually going to happen, but it’s for that reason that I would prefer my suggested version. At least my version feels more like an actual team playing against a team, where everyone counts (or at least feels like they do).

It just feels wrong if one person runs through a whole team without any of the other 4 players getting a chance to play. It’s not testing the strength of the team, it’s testing the strength of the the best player on each team. I certainly realize that people want to do things the official way, but I would rather have a bit more fun and get 5 Minnesotans playing against 5 Illinois-ances instead of 5 Minnesotans all playing against just Humbag (a purely hypothetical situation, to be sure).

I get what your saying.

Only thing is time constraints coming from the increased number of games played and there being 4 teams.

I DO like you idea though and its up the tourney organizers.

Actually, there shouldn’t be any more games played in my version than in the traditional version. In each instance, there are between 5 and 9 games played, with one player being eliminated for each game played. One benefit to my version is that many of the games can be played simultaneously if time does become a factor.

Ahh I see what you mean but how would we determine who would play who?

A coin toss?

A part of the reason I kinda like the SBO way is that you can arrange your team to anticipate the order of the other team for possible favorable character matchups.

Plus, having your anchor reverse OCV is too cool.

Actually dont in SBO they can change their order on a whim?

What I propose:

Both teams reveal their first player ala double blind pick (reveal it to someone outside). Say the winning player of that first match plays Makoto and wins. The loosing team then may send their Elena player to play next solely based on the matchup.

Ehh I dono if thats how they do it though.

Thoughts?

I like Shogun’s idea the best. (1.) Less time constraining, (2.) it allows everyone to play each other. Of course, we can refine it to the point where it’s fair to everyone, but I think that that is probably the most accurate we’ll get with 4 teams of 5 people. Again, the whole point is to accurately illustrate which state, overall, has the highest 3S skill.

Raph is top tier.

Oh, and I may be down for 5-10 dollar 3s games as well. That just depends on if I actually turn on my ps2 previous to this tournament.

For deciding match ups, can’t we just put one teams 5 players in a hat, and the other team draw their opponent? It seems fair, and would give a bit of randomness to the match ups.

each team should decide a lineup, and only change their line up after they either win or lose against another team.
