This exactly except take out the LOL cause it’s not funny. It’s why this crap is only going to get worse because people are already being alienated by it.
Our community is always at it’s best at two points.
When everyone is just trying to do their best and get better, and it’s not a matter of who’s better then who, but the community as a whole being elevated.
When There’s a straight up fact of who’s better then who based on constantly playing casuals with everyone else on a regular basis.
The two go hand in hand, but essentially all a majority of people have been doing is theory fighting. It’s easy to be the best in Theory Fighter…but it’s Theory Fighter. Nobody knows who’s really better then anyone else on a consistent basis…because we haven’t been consistently playing each other.
Only way this is fixed is if we can somehow get weekly casuals going again at a spot that EVERYONE feels like they’re welcome at. Joe’s place was perfect for that because he didn’t care as long as you wanted to game.
AL is nice, and I like supporting those guys, but I don’t like having to drive an hour to Cincy every week just to play people I could play in my own city. and the fact is I have to make plans to get down there, and I have to have some cash ready, and more often then not I’m a taxi too.
Anyway aside from just missing an easy place to game, we’re clearly missing having Joe around in general. He’s the dude who kept people calm, involved, honest and in their place. Without that it’s just a clusterfuck of everyone’s worst competitive emotions converging on themselves.
DeeJay is confirmed for Super Street Fighter IV. EventHubs link
I think Jason brings up a good point about just flat out gaming more together. I agree with him that AL is sweet and it’s great to support them; the drive and cash spent are the only negative aspects.
Friday nights are almost always good for me to either host or go somewhere in the immediate area for a get together. That would be the best day for me to make it something non-AL, Dayton exclusive.
So Juri is pretty much the Kim Kaphwan of Street Fighter… which as a Beijing King user in KOF makes me happy, but if I use her me and Quentin would use Axel, Abel, and Juri… but she looked pretty nice in motion.
Nice vid! And wow, spring 2010 potential release on console? Probably gonna be summer, but that’s still a little sooner than I originally thought. Not full price is very cool too; and what’s this secret Ono is talking about for keeping your original IV disc? Sounds interesting, even if it’s something small.
If I wanted damage I’d play Gief or Sagat, better damage all day everyday. I do whore though, although switching from Chun to Urien seems to deny that. Face it though, every game has anywhere from 5-10 viable characters and a whole lotta shitty ones.
SNK’s balance has always been a bit lopsided.
Playable bosses, playable past bosses, some characters with 20+ moves, some with only 5-6.
Its usualy some shoto, and a boss at the top. There are a few exceptions, but from what I have played that seemed to be the general rule.
I know there was some talk about some games at Lee’s tonight but I cannot make it. I’ll be at work till 9pm. So best of fun to everyone who does get some games in!
If you’re referring to the image that has been posted multiple times in discussion threads of Dudley its a shop. A damn good one though. So far though, 3 of the 8(?) characters that were rumored have been confirmed, so I would still hold out hope for the 3s cast.
If you snoop around there’s already footage of Hawk/Juri’s ultra animations. Hawks is kinda cheesy, Juri’s looks cool, but like all ultras it’s going to go stale after seeing it 10 times. It kinda looks like she has a Chun-li start up to it, so it might come out fast, dunno.
