Now I have to see that damn face again…

The more I look at the SSFIV logo, the more I dislike the SUPER part, aesthetically. I wish the designers had put a subtitle underneath the original logo instead. The SUPER just makes the whole thing one big, ugly block.

But yay for DeeJay! He actually looks really fun to play from the video. I am unimpressed with T. Hawk and Juri’s currently shown Ultras. Hawk’s is too fast, though funny at the end, and Juri’s is too long and kind of cheesy. Save me from this nightmare, DeeJay!

Looks like SFIV is my new favorite game.

New characters and a promise of a “cheaper than standard” price make me willing to give 4 another shot.

I just read that there is currently no plan for a SSFIV arcade release. A lot of user speculation on EventHubs that this will hurt the competitive scene overall since arcade players won’t be able to get their hands on the new characters.

I’m going to say that game cafes won’t have a problem, since they run on console or PC anyway. Actual arcades may be disappointed that the new game isn’t coming their way, but I think the serious players will find ways to get together anyway and really pick apart the game.

The no arcade release may actually be more of a problem for Japanese arcade-only players. And in one of the EventHubs user responses a good point was made about SBO; will they just run SFIV instead of SSFIV? Has SBO ever had a console tourney?

Well, SBO has never had a console only tournament before. Could be like Soul Calibur 3, where they said there were no plans for arcade release, then they decided to come out with one later. Could also mean the death of the arcade forever.

Nick, for what it’s worth, I asked Kyle what he said, and he said he just told you he wasn’t happy with how he played because he dropped a bunch of combos. I know that’s not going to be satisfying, but he’s usually an ok guy. I’ve had to bite my tongue from time to time when I didn’t play up to the level I know I can, and had to just say “good game” when I didn’t really think so. In the end, it never sounds good to say something like that though, no matter how the match went. he also thought your name was Vic lol.

For anyone interested, I’ll be down at Sinclair in the usual spot for most of the day tomorrow with SFIV and BB in tow. HDR is also there, and I will have my SE and a PS3 pad. Anyone with sticks and free time is welcome to join in. (Of course join in if you don’t have a stick, we can share!)

So yeah, just thought I’d throw that out there.

I think that Kyle buisiness was a misunderstanding. He’s been cool and helpful to me even though he’s considerably better. A couple of his crewmates, I could totally see that though haha. Maybe you got the names mixed up.

Nathan its funny you mentioned the SSF4 logo cause I thought it was really cool! The SF4 one is just all…jagged. Like PS1 era stuff. Seems like it should have been on fire with an 8-ball and a skateboard somewhere on it.

Clean is good, IMO.

When I actually played BlazBlue, in one of the ranbats that Kyle said something like “you got a lot of work to do” after he pretty much destroyed me in a carl mirror. I don’t think it was condescending, he was right.

Kyle is such a jerk. He uses the clap loop. Only a jerk would use the clap loop.

Maybe they think an arcade version will hinder console sales. Capcom is probably content with everyone playing online at home if it means greater sales. I’ve never heard of SBO having a console tourney.

To each their own. I also enjoy clean designs, but something about the block bothers me.

Fire and an 8-ball would fit, though, which is sad. The jagged lettering could be the deck art of the skateboard and the wheels could be 8-balls, lol. Like a Twisted Metal art cover.

EDIT: I just tried doing a little mock up with the original SFIV logo, and I feel for those designers. The jagged edges and asymmetry of the logo really make it hard to add something in on the sides or underneath. I may not like the big, blocky SUPER, but as a solution to the logo design problem it’s not a bad idea. It’ll grow on me

Amidst the mild hostility, I bring you…

(Mostly because of the commentary)

Well, since he plays Carl, and knows exactly what I was talking about, I’m assuming it was him. But yeah, Kyle is usually pretty cool.

Also, Mario, I don’t think arcades would interfere with console sales. I think most arcade players end up buying the game. If anything, I’d say that they want to make more money quicker by releasing it on console. Also, arcade games are expensive, so maybe they want to make sure they have an update that will stick around for a while before they release it for the arcade.

Hey everybody my name’s Todd. I’ve probably met some of you at AL or otherwise, but I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m from Cincinnati but I live in Dayton right now (UD student.)
Games I play:
SF4, marvel, 3s, cvs2, A3, and HDR.
Yeah!

You go to UD too? Wow that’s 3 people now, we should start holding some game nights at KU or the Hangar or something. If you like 3s, you’re in the right place as far as I’m concerned.

@ Kam: Rockefeller 4 LYFE! I absolutely hated the EVO commentators for 3s because they trudged all over him. Not only does he know next to everything about that game, BUT he makes it entertaining. WC has him EC has Yipes, and no others in between.

We should seriously look into it as I have next to no experience playing skilled 3s players. I am pretty abysmal at that game, but it would be fun.
