Keith got 4th our set for 3rd place was super long haha. Someone recorded me and SHIN Darius’ match. That shit was epic. Yea the kid who got first barely beat me each tyme, i really have a hard tyme against rog tho. I gotta step it up. Doode who got 2nd i thought was pretty good too, he played abel all the way. So 1st went to Rog 2nd went to Abel 3rd went to Gief/Fuerte. Fun shit, 32 ppl eggzactly entered i think
For Brawl, I’m pretty sure I could get the Cincy players to come out. They’re only about 30 min away, and there are at least 8 of them. That’s not counting all the other random players who could possibly show up.
So for games, how about:
SFIV, 3s, SSBB, HDR, BB(or GG), and KOFXII
BB and KOFXII are dependent on popularity, but we won’t know until they’re out there and a ranbat is held. If the first tourney brings in four people then it’s no problem to just stop doing them and focus on more popular games.
And on the topic of entry fee, would everyone just prefer the ranbat tourneys to be free to play in? It might still be possible to get discounted entry into the arcade on tourney day, but we’ll see.
Hell yeah that shit was epic. El 40 got the best of me. I’m happy I took 2 people out tho. I buried them with their money.
I got top 8 somewhere…I was playing marvel mostly not sure how I placed.
wow… and to think… as long as I could have got past ryus… I probably would have won that shit. The only balrog I have trouble against is antwons , amd me and him play each other alot.
oh well congrats on yetis 3rd , keiths 4th , lees 8th… and whoever else from Daytonatti placed.
Is anone interested in a 20g xbox 360 with no cords or controllers. Console and hard drive only. $150?
Help me get a price so I can put it in the trading outlet at least.
This is not a good deal btw
So what would be?
Give the ranbat idea a chance guys, I personally wouldn’t make some of those. Obviously I’d come to all the 3s ones (they are getting a 3s cab Josh, as I’ve mentioned multiple times the arcade version is better than the console, so I would indeed pay to play it). I say set up one of the seasons, advertise it a bit, and give people a good window to get their money together for it. I think A.L. posted something about lowering the cost of getting in so you could participate in the tourney and it would only come out to a few dollars more than entry fee, and that’s fair to me.
The 45 minute drive argument is moot, I’d have to drive 35 minutes to play at Illuminaudis, which I’d rather not. I’d have to drive close to an hour to play anyone in Cinci, and its about 25 minutes to WSU which is the closest gathering point for the Dayton players. Plus I enjoy myself at the arcade, even if I’m yelling “that’s stupid” at the Marvel machine. Why? Because if I don’t want to play Marvel, there’s 30 other things in there to hold my attention. This is my hobby, I used to like CCG’s, but I ended up switching to fighting games. Instead of going to the card shop every weekend to play a weekly tourney, I’ll head to the arcade instead, and I spend less money on the arcade than I do on CCG’s.
If you guys think a Brawl tourney will work, go for it! I’d rather see these ranbats become a steady thing for the community.
As far as the tourney went, yeah single elim sucked. The Balrog kid was good, nice guy too. Very patient, and had solid combos, which is all you need. Abel player was pretty good too, but kept doing the gimmicky throws which once you figure them out stop being good. I lost to Keith’s Honda, and I didn’t pick Rufus, which I regret. I also have minor experience against Honda, thank you Championship mode. I do like Balrog, but for right now, Rufus is my best character, and if I’m going to play this shit, I might as well stick with someone I can enjoy, even in shitty matches. Oh I beat Darius once in CVS2, that’s got to count for something
Lee: For the Xbox, something lower than $100 for sure. It’s the lack of controllers/cables that really spoils the whole deal.
Double Edit: Also, this whole “why isn’t Dayton winning SF4 tourneys” thing is pretty simple really. We suck at that game, period.
Buying a power brick, component/hdmi cables, and a controller is potentially more expensive than just buying a brand new 20gb 360.
it’s also used.
I’m also selling my un-modded 360 madcatz SE for $80. Lightly used since I don’t use my 360. Original box.
Hey everyone… im the rog from the tourney at arcade legends… ggs to all I played. It was a great time. That abel match was pretty annoying for me…
But anyways… If anyone has recordings or w/e on youtube it would be awesome if you could send’m to me.
Feel free to add me on psn. If you feel the need
Ha you should feel proud. Now you must defeal Luke and Josh to stand a chance…against Chris Rose.
I thought you were quitting SF4 and never coming back. You even said something along the lines of “I’m not doing what Dayton players do and just saying it, I’m really done with the game”. You make me sad.
even if they get a proper 3s cab, I would rather pay to play the game than pay to be there. I’m not interested in paying for the possibility to play 23 bad while i’d only be there to play 3 games at most. THIS is why arcades failed in this area. Now, if they had a good DDR machine, I’d be there 5 days a week. True story. But, being that they have console set ups of games I can play in my home… not so appealing. At least Illuminaudi wasn’t actually charging you to be there. And if he did, I could have talked him out of it.
As it stands, I am not interested in doing this Ranbat at AL and neither should any of you. It’s barely a good deal for the people in Cincinnati, who MIGHT play enough games in a day/night to equal about 7 bucks. This is why when I could have had free admission the other day and dude offered me free admission NEXT time and free passes that I was a little pissed. I might not go back because it’s not a good deal. And in a month, when the place is either making a fortune because it’s summer or falling flat on its face, I might change my mind. But right now, with summer gas prices on the rise, a general lack of good games, the ability to play these games in my home and the fact that I have to pay cover somewhere where I can’t even pick up girls… yeah, not all that appealing.
Well I didn’t want to say it…
Should probably underscore that the next time anyone goes on a SF4 hate rant…
To paraphrase Victor Sagat, “This game isn’t worth the disc it’s PRINTED on.” It’s really not worth taking seriously IMO. It’s OK to play once in awhile but I wouldn’t get upset about not winning a tourney in it or anything. It’d be like getting frustrated over like Killer Instinct
I can agree with Ghaleon’s post. Speaking of Killer Instinct, next time I’m at the arcade does anyone want to play it? I got a few matches with Mario in but he disappeared after awhile. I’m probably going Tuesday and I’ll be bringing a friend who doesn’t play fighting games that often with me, he still wants to check it out.
Edit: That’s great Josh, YOU don’t have to come, we’ll still be there. Also, there were bitches at the arcade last time, ask anyone who was there.
I’m leaning towards that sentiment as well…
But it can be hard to separate “hate cause you suck at the game” vs. “hate cause the game sucks” in Dayton.
I mean…I did that with Tekken for the longest time(throwing through striking moves…:chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw:…)but me sucking doesn’t make the game bad. Just bad to me.
You can be good at something that sucks, and simultaneously be aware that it sucks. You can be bad at something that you can tell is “good”.
I am bad at Chess; it’s a pretty good game.
