Seriously? That is business suicide, you want to talk about pissing off your consumers. Look at what happened with MML3, now do that kind of thing with one of your big name titles. The roster leak is real, in fact now that they are leaked they have to keep them. Probably why Capcom was pissed about it, now there is no turning back.
Plus, the responses have been mostly positive. No company is going to change what is already making the release hyped.

same here. I really wanted Cyclops, but I got freakin’ Rocket Raccoon, Nova, AND Hawkeye. I am completely hyped for UMvC, even with P. Wright in.

I’m absolutely ecstatic about every character in the leak except Rocket Raccoon, and even then, Guardians of the Galaxy is relatively new as a thing that actually took off and they are absolutely smart in plugging it.
If you want to play Gambit or Mega Man or Venom go play MvC2. If you want to play a fighting game with Street Fighter characters, holy shit, there’s this game called STREET FIGHTER. This is UMvC3. It is a different game and newer properties like Dead Rising and Ace Attorney, along with old previously-kinda-snubbed properties like G&G, should be given the chance to shine. Good to see a previously “token” property in the versus series like Resident Evil get as many cast members as Street Fighter, too.
This is where the Versus series should be going. Fewer characters from other fighters, more characters we’d never see in a fighter any other way.
I have come to accept that the characters that I want may not be as popular as Frank and PW but my only issue is that PW doesnt fight so how is it gonna work…I guess I will have to wait to see.
While I’m spewing salt everywhere: “Phoenix Wright doesn’t fight” is the most tired refrain.
Phoenix: “Oh, about your uppercut. Try yelling ‘Take That!’ next time. I find it packs a little more punch.”
That’s all that really needs to be said, though I could certainly mention Phoenix’s ridiculous ability to take hits and just shrug them off. Getting nailed with a fire extinguisher dead-on in the head and coming out of it with “about an hour of temporary amnesia”? That’s probably well over Frank West for raw resilience. PWright for 1.1m stamina.
This right here. Who would ever in a million years have thought Amaterasu would be in this game? That was some fan service right there. You can build a house out of the game that Gambit and Megaman have been in, let the cult favorite/ignored characters get this ONE time to shine.

This is a totally stupid argument. Since he doesn’t fight they have free reign to do whatever they want with him. And in all fairness it isn’t like Jean Grey is exactly a hand to hand powerhouse but look how that turned out.
yup, Marvel is making the right choices for characters (if they are the ones choosing the characters). Gambit and Venom, while favorites are not completely at the status they were in the 90’s. Comic evolve like fighting games. This is why (puts on flame retardant suit) Mega Man shouldn’t be in. Let new faces take spots. We have gotten enough carry overs. Such as Sentinel which shouldn’t have been in this game when a more fun interesting character could have been in his place. But I do know why some characters are back. But we want new faces, or people will just complain how X character doesn’t play like his MvC2 incarnation, or in sent’s case, jsut as fucking overpowered.

You can’t really say that. Jean is trained to hand and hand fight, she lived most of her teen life inside the danger room. I know I am going geeky, but she does know how to fight. She is a X-Man, and Phoenix Wright is a lawyer… People are justified in being a little upset a non-fighter is in a game.

Read up. Phoenix Wright is as capable of throwing a punch or improvising a weapon in the clutch as Frank West is and is probably way more durable. Also expect buddy calls like Captain Commando.

I would point out regarding the Wright issue that Ammy doesn’t know how to fight either, being as she is a wolf. Yet it seems unjustified for people to complain about her inclusion.
Regarding diversity- I understand that Marvel wishes to, and should, promote the characters its comic-reading fans like (Nova and RR) as well as its current projects (Hawkeye/Avengers), but I think plenty of people would feel that the fans who supported MVC2 for ten years are a bloc who deserve recognition as well- hence why you see so many people pushing for Venom/Gambit/Megaman/Cable. I sympathise with this attitude- I suppose it’s basically a matter of finding the correct balance, which the MVC fans probably think hasn’t been struck (similarly with people who want more black/female characters).
I am not calling for protest for him to be taken out, he is in and that is that. I am just saying that the salt on Wright is just as justified as the hype for him. I mean you get Phoenix Wright over Gene from Godhand… But again it is only 1 character out of the 12 I won’t play, I am ok with that. I am glad Phoenix Wright fans got him. Like I said not starting a fight

What if he’s top tier? Let’s say, hypothetically, that Objection stuffs divekick pressure, Take That! Upper has great priority, and Evidence Throw is a nice quick OTG, and there’s some nice combo synergy with – oh, we’ll say Jam Session assist, that’s a nice safe bet, and in turn a forward assist that synchs up with Wesker’s easy OTG combos.
PWright/Dante/Wesker for ultimate team.
Now, this is all theory fighter, but the point I’m trying to make is:
Don’t knock it 'til you’ve got it. If PWright is good, or even just /has good synergy with other good characters/, you’ll be seeing him in top 8s. Maybe over you.
