#datmarvel: Lupinko put out a new hint

I think that’s exactly why we shouldn’t be bitching about him though. Capcom is literally creating an entirely new character here. he could be anything so people should stop being down on him for being “just a lawyer.” Look at Chris and Jill. They were confined to the source material they had for those character. Yeah they “fit in” to the fighting game world, but they both sucked in transition. Phoenix could be made into anything and it could potentially be awesome.

thank god for gambit disconfirmation.

You NEED to check out his game, it was called three wonders, which was three games in one arcade unit, two of the games star lou (and his pal siva), the first was like GnG but about a trillion times better, the second like Forgotten Worlds (but 7 trillion times better). His flame friend is firestorm, a magical allie (one of three in the game) that you can get along the way!

“thank god for gambit disconfirmation.”

Lupinko said he wasn’t talking about Gambit, didn’t he?

He was using Firebrand, so I’m not sure how hard he hits. It seemed about average, though. He didn’t know the character yet, so it was just a standard ABCDBBCD into his firebreath hyper. It took about 75-80% of my health from full. It also seemed like they decreased the time X-Factor is active as well but not by much.

Norimaru.

That is all.

I have so many favorites in the game now with a good chunk to be added. I only have 2 characters currently I don’t touch Felicia and Spencer. Top tier characters don’t matter to me, I play what is fun. I am only using Sent as an assist until I find my true 3rd for my team. With UMvC3 I will have 3 characters I won’t play, that isn’t bad at all. I will try them of course, but they just don’t do it for me. While I am trying to learn to play this game right, I am also still playing for fun. I will be learning the characters I really like. I never look up the tiers and only make my team on that. It kinda ruins the fun feel of the game for me.

You can’t make people stop bitching about anything saddly. If you only take his games into account he is a lawyer only, where as this is a fighter. I admit they will probably have a fun moveset for him, but others will still be mad that a real fighter character isn’t in PW’s spot.

This is why Strider is there. I don’t think MvC2s supporters are really clamoring for any returning Capcom characters outside of corridor assist, which is from an even more defunct franchise than Strider.

MSS is there for that reason alone, and Venom and Juggs being requested and denied might indicate Capcom got as much as they could out of Marvel for the first game, and Ultimate was 100% up to Marvel.

I don’t play top tier in my main team (arguably). I win a good amount. Don’t assume everyone plays top tier.

Or getting run over by a car, thrown at least 10 feet back, and have only minor injuries.

Or falling down a cliff, only suffering minor injuries that incapacitate you for a mere day, and even then you’re back on your feet abnormally fast.

In his own series, P. Wright is idiotically resilient.

I am in 100% agreement with b15k3. You want MvC2?

In no particular order: Magneto Storm Sentinel Strider Doom Wolvie Jill Felicia Cap Shuma Hulk Ironman Spiderman Ryu Tron Akuma Chun-Li Morrigan.

Also, obvious Blackheart/Dormammu comparison, obvious Haggar/Zangief comparison… If you wanted to be particularly uncharitable you could say some stuff comparing Hayato and Taskmaster’s normals, too, but if we do that everyone loses because it will turn into “HAWKEYE IS TOO MUCH LIKE TASKMASTER” and that shit barely even flies on GameFAQs.

18, plus some semi-obvious comparisons… That’s half of Vanilla No DLC’s roster size, and more than a third of Ultimate’s.

Personally, I don’t really care much for Ibuki, but I think she has the potential to fit into Marvel 3. Unfortunately, it always seems like Capcom tries to pretend SF3 never happened when the Marvel vs Capcom series comes up. I think the only time I’ve ever even seen a reference to the SF3 series was Sean making a cameo appearance in Ryu’s ending for MvC1.

While I respect them limiting the number of SF characters (I’d rather more Darkstalkers any day - or even some Rival Schools or Power Stone characters), I don’t really expect them to follow through with it completely. There’s like, seven or so X-Men in the game. (Of course, that’s probably more Marvel’s fault than Capcom’s.)

really? Never played the P.Wright games, but that makes him sound more like a Looney Toon character then a fighter. Oh lord it could be Narimaru all over again, and that doesn’t help with the people salty about Wright…

To maybe be on topic, if wsop is in and he doesn’t mean Gambit, then what are characters or game mechanics that revolve around playing cards or gambling that we’re not thinking about?

Might just be character deconfirmation like the elaborate no Cable deconfirmation from the last series of hints. I just kinda don’t think so when he says “obviously I’m not talking about Gambit”

First example was in Apollo Justice : Ace Attorney, second case and the second was in Trials and Tribulations, the last case. It’s not so much cartoony than it’s explained by him being extremely lucky. Just saying he could take damage, and wanted to add a few examples to the extinguisher thing.

Phoenix Wright w/ Thor health confirmed!

“This is why Strider is there. I don’t think MvC2s supporters are really clamoring for any returning Capcom characters outside of corridor assist, which is from an even more defunct franchise than Strider.”

True enough, though I’d point out that if 1 character from 50 (see below) means you’ve fulfilled your obligations, people certainly shouldn’t complain about the lack of black/female/obscure characters from different franchises in the game, because they’ve far more than a single representative, right?

“MSS is there for that reason alone, and Venom and Juggs being requested and denied might indicate Capcom got as much as they could out of Marvel for the first game, and the Ultimate was 100% up to Marvel.”

Sentinel, certainly, but Magneto and Storm are popular enough to warrant inclusion on their own merits, their MVC2 status aside. I think Capcom is very willing to let Marvel decide a lot of their side (I believe I read an interview where Niitsuma admitted that they more or less went with Marvel’s suggestions for their 6 picks for UMVC3, which supports what you say).

You can’t extinguish the flames, we are talking about gamers. Take comfort in the fact that you guys got him

I’m pleased with the roster, but pretty bummed about no new DS characters. If we do get more characters, I want Demitri or Lord Raptor in.

Nah, the post I quoted wasn’t so much about internet flames, but rather a specific situation that arose in the first case of the second game, where he gets conked with a fire extinguisher and gets temporary amnesia right before the trial. It’s the tutorial case.

Considering the other characters Marvel chose Magneto and Storm aren’t really big players in current comics, and Magneto hasn’t been a villain in a while. I don’t follow X-men that extensively, but I’m guessing they’d be far from Marvel’s first choices. They got in largely because of MvC2. I’m sure Yipes helped out too, maybe if he had said Psy-fucking-locke in one of those youtube vids she woulda made the game.
