I bought it from amazon UK
Did it also have a default picture of some component cables like the us amazon site?
That is the legit listing.
Ok thanks.

its the same case/pcb under a different brand
have fun modding
after modding and it working fine for a few days…
buttons 1 2 3 4 are stuck in the pressed down postion.
i unhooked everything and they are still being pressed down how do i fix? the solder points look like they are fine on the board… ahhh i am so screwed lol
You didn’t mess up the grounds or anything did you? Or have any extra solder touching any points? Any loose wire or pieces of wire?
Use canned air on the PCB see if that blows anything off of it.
And just to make sure you’re saying even with the PCB removed from the case plugged into the console you’re getting constant inputs?
Sounds like you soldered the 2 pads together making a connection. Find a magnifying glass and double check all connections. IT doesnt take much to make a connection. You’ll have to find some soldering braid and “mop up” where you think may be touching and re-do it.
The closest contacts seems like the area where you solder on the joystick. That doesnt even make sense how it would make the buttons come on! Taking some pictures.
And yes removed all button connections joystick connections. Buttons 1 2 3 4 still in the on position.

buttons

i plugged it into the ps3 and then back to the pc so i could get the right buttons to show. its now 1 2 3 4 AND 8.
for sure the solder on the JOYSTICK area is fine. i took the ground and placed it on the ground for each up down left right. it didnt light up on my screen. i put the ground onto live wire and it lit up the directions. i’m at a lost on what to do…
anyone have an idea on what i could have done wrong then? possibly something in the LANE area of the buttons? i dont know the term but not the solder point but where the contact point makes little roads lol
The soldering on the buttons part looks fine. I’m not sure I’d ever want to use solid core, but there’s no reason it shouldn’t work.
Grab a multimeter, and check for continuity between the button lines and the red ground wire. If there is, its a wiring problem, somewhere around the buttons (you using Happ buttons?). If there isn’t, then your board may have gone tits up.
crown buttons. and the buttons are all un hooked atm… no grounds no nothing connecting it !! and its still stuck ON …
i’ll try to find a multimeter and do what you say thanks
where are the wire ends?
are they touching a metal surface while you are testing this?
are you holding them in your hand? (you can close a switch by holding a ground wire and a button wire!)
Also, make sure you test it on the PC in both modes; once in PS3/PC mode, and again in 360 mode.
the ends are just in the air. comming off the pcb. yes, i am making sure there is no contact to anything.
there is no ground connection on your joystick connection!??!?

notice the five wires to the joystick area
i made my own harness (the brown is ground)
button order
RB RT Y B X A LT LB Gnd
take a close look at your solder on the pads for Y B and A
the signal line for RT runs very close under them
thanks for pointing out the signal line! pretty blind to not notice but man it was working fine for a week then random stuck ON.
my joystick is a fanta so each microswitch has a ground i just loop together into one.
What did you make that wire harness out of? Can you just buy the plastic harness tip and add your own wires or did you cannibalize someting?
Clutching at straws, but look carefully at the two chips and make sure there are no tiny flecks of solder/metal caught between two or more of the chip prongs.
I mention this because I had a similar problem a while back with a FS3 - couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it and was ready to dump the motherboard till I took a closer look…
you can head out to any electronics shop / robotic shops (there are loads near me) and find some polarized connectors (that is what they call them, but it’s not what you are using them for)
i used a 5 pin connector and a 9 pin connector
5 pin harness

here is my “rat’s nest” (i tried t o keep it tiddy, but loads of wiring going on)

feel free to check out my photo set on the build @ flickr
