I just got one printed but kinkos kind of fucked it up
if it wasn’t for the fuck up it would be fine on the stick.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to remove the pcb from the Datel stick while keeping the Turbo/Back/Start/Guide buttons intact? i.e keep them attached to the pcb and still functional?
I don’t think you will be able to remove them without disconnecting the wires. You can solder them back on if you can dig them out, or solder on some other buttons of your choice.
uhh… print it out and stick it there perhaps? some people like lamilabel, some people sandwich it under plexi, you could probably just glue it there if you wanted.
next people will be wanting a ‘tutorial’ to open the box their stick just came in.
those buttons aren’t microswitched, they use conductive contacts that are a part of the pcb itself. it might be possible to cut away the part of the pcb with the contacts without affecting the rest of it, but to be honest it’s probably more hassle than it’s worth.
You’d have to solder wires to the contacts and wire them to buttons separately. Not a big deal at all, really. As mentioned, they are conductive pads on the buttons now, which won’t really work if you put the pcb in a custom stick.
Lamilabel sounds interesting, probably have to look around the printing stores to find a good one. What I’m concerned about is durability, and just getting thick stock paper, printing and sticking seems like a very good way to have a nasty mess to have to salvage a case from in six months time. Plexi probably wouldn’t work with the OBSF-30s I’ve got (and as far as I can tell there’s no good way to get the plexi on in the first place).
Thanks for the backhanded comment, though.
Actually I’ve been thinking about this, it might not be too hard to simply drill 4 holes near the corners, and use nuts and bolts to hold the plexy in place. I’ve never worked with plexy though so i have no idea how hard it is to drill 30mm holes in.
Well, the stick came in the mail today and I might as well give my opinions of it.
It’s very light - this may be a good thing if you found the heaviness of the TE a hassle for carrying it around to tournaments. The art isn’t bad either - rough matte finish to deter fingerprintsn and the art itself works in both a SF and KOF setting, oddly. I would actually go as far as to say that I would have bought this for the same price even if it had shipped with no buttons or stick.
It works perfectly fine on the PC, as someone who’s TE doesn’t I’m good with that.
Anyway, the main gripe is the stock parts. If you’re used to the JLF and OFSF-30s, these obviously are not going to match that. However, the only thing you’ll need to ajust to is riding closer to the gate on the stick to get circle motions to come out. This is a process that takes about 20 seconds to master. The buttons, although clunky and obviously with rubber soles, are decent enough that you probably won’t mind using them.
For 32, this is a very solid purchase.
The stick is fantastic to pillage the board from if you’re making your own custom. Modders could order them in droves. (not sure what to do with the cases, though…) As a fight stick, it leaves much to be desired. But, it can be modded with minimum fuss, and you end up with a dual nice mod, which can’t be said as easily with the SE.
I’m using lamilabel on mine
aside from the mayflash template not seeing exactly the same size it’s holding up nice, looks good and was cheap
the only issue is lamilabel is its hard to cut so my circles around the guide buttons looks like shit. I did a real hack job on it.
Ordered one from Amazon. Not going to mod it until I finish with my Hori T5.
I have finally started my mod worklog, please check it out
Hey guys been looking through this forum for a while now and I just decided to join:)
I think i will be buying this as my first arcade stick and what I want to know is, does this stick still work with Xbox 360? I am assuming that playing this game on a PS3 and PC will be fine however.
Later down the track I would like to mod this stick with all sanwa parts hopefully this will be easy but I have never modded a stick, I do know how to solder things though… I think lol.
So if you guys could link me to some great tutorials on how to mod this stick with sanwa parts it would be greatly appreciated.=D
I don’t think it will ever be locked out of the 360, and it works now.
They probably won’t be available for long due to microsoft suing, so get one soon.
Laugh’s tutorial has a sanwa stick, and mine has sanwa buttons, so hopefully they will be good enough.
Hmm, anyone knows by any chance how much it weights please ?
thanks
ATTENTION - CHEAPER DATEL PCBs
I just emailed Datel, requesting that they sell the PCBs from the stick separately, at a lower price.
I hope you can all see how this would benefit us builders.
If you want this to happen, please email them as well. Enough interest will show them that it is a good idea to sell us these awesome PCBs.
not gonna happen
It can’t hurt, spoilsport
No manufacturer will offer just 1 part of their product. Besides the circuitboards are not where their profit is. Does MadCatz sell TE stick cases? Without parts? Will they ever?
Not to mention Datel is most likely going to be served with a cease and desist in regards to xbox accessories.
Probably won’t change anything as far as these pcbs are concerned.
Someone in china builds these things and companies like Datel and Paewang (the one Laugh sells) buy them from them, brand them and sell them on their own. Someone out there knows how to make these things and it’s probably not actually Datel.
