Yeah, and you know how the JLA works? They use heroes available to them. Guess what? John just so happened to be available and Hal wasn’t(he was dead at the time).
So then just use Kyle, every fan already mentioned he was a good enough alternative and as I’ve said already out of all the lanters that could have been brought up it just so happens to be a black guy. Timm Bruce even admitted the reason he chose John was because he was black and Timm Bruce has a pattern of giving shit about fan imput and just doinh whatever the hell he wants regardless if it makes sense or not.
I would much rather have John than Kyle, and I’m glad they chose to put John in JL when they could have easily gone with Kyle (whom they introduced in Superman: TAS years earlier).
…but that doesnt make sense though, Why would a team that is supposed to represent the best of the best intentionally chose a weaker member? Hal Jordan defines what a GL is and so does Kyle to a lesser extent, I just hate seeing skin color factor in with a creative decision. Then again thats just a list of changes Bruce Timm made for no good reason…
Kyle doesn’t define shit, hence why Hal is back and Kyle is in space.
And why John is in midcard limbo were he belongs, Kyle and Jordan were the shits…they were what being a GL is all about. However what this basically comes down to is my lack of respect for the decision behind Johns inclusion and if it wasnt for Timm Bruce officially admitting the reaosn behind Johns push was due to him being black then I might have been okay with it.
John has been around longer than Kyle. John is cooler than Kyle. John isn’t vehemently disliked by a sizable chunk of the fanbase. And yes, John is more socially significant than Kyle. John is all around a better choice than Kyle.
John hasn’t made as big of a impact as Kyle, John is a virtual unknown while Kyle and Jordan r generally associated as being the GL by a vast wealth of fans both hardcore and casual. Not to mention John is a weakling compared to Jordan and Kyle so his inclusion has little to do with his power which basically defeats the enire purpose of gathering the most powerful heros into a single unite. Like I said, if there was some valid reason for his inclusion I might have tollerated it but since Bruce Timm basically admitted he’s only there because he’s black…well that just sounds really lame.
Bullshit. Kyle is a post-Crisis character. John’s got easily two more decades under his belt. Two decades is a long time to rack up readers, particularly since he was introduced in the hugely successful and enduringly popular GL run by Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams.
Yeah, Bruce Timm stated that they wanted a diverse group of heroes, which is ONE of the reasons why they chose John. So what? That doesn’t even come close to explaining the huge hair you have up your ass about it.
Well first off, even in spite of John’s nearly 2 decade head start, he’s hardly at Kyle level of fame. Kyle much like Jordan defined what a GL character is, so its only natural GL is typically associated with being Jordan or Kyle. Kyle rejected Godhood for crying out loud, he had a run as freaking Ion. What memerable story arc or mini-series or comic did John ever have…the one were he was brutally beaten up by supergirl lol.
Second off, I don’t appreciate when creators take liberties with timeless characters and story for either there personal or polical agenda’s. It doesnt make a lick of sense fo have a weak GL member when u have 2 vastly more powerful GL’s that can fill the spot for whats supposed to be a team of the worlds most powerful hero’s. The only thing Johns got going for him is that he’s black, which is why he will never be as remembered or as adored as Jordan and Kyle. Johns whole placment contradicts the premise of the JL which in turn makes JL=auto fuckup.
John is better because Kyle blows. End of story, GGPO.
meh, John is a forgettable midcard while Kyle and Jordan will always be timless. Doesnt matter though John is a jobber in the comics which is all that really matters. and im so happy he isnt in this movie. Oh and by the way as far as Lantern ranking go is something like this: Hal Jordan, Kyle, Senistro, Guy Gardner, Allen Scott then…hmmmm debatable at this point.
BWAHAHAHA at Kyle being timeless.
Kyle being timeless? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Why do you think his faggot ass is no longer Ion and why do you think they brought back Hal? Kyle is garbage. As garbage as your posts.
Well he’s a lot more timeless then midcard jobber John "why the fuck am I here"Stewart. Did John ever become Ion, did he ever have the run Kyle did…no he didn’t. So no matter wat u guys thnk Kyle and Jordan well always be GL…timeless classics.
You do realize those moves were done to make Kyle more popular, right? And it still didn’t work. Hal was brought back because the fans hated Kyle.
Embryo: face it, at this point the only reason you’re bagging on John so hard is because he was put in the JL show instead of one of the white Lanterns. Now, I admit that I lost all sense of what is and what isn’t in good taste a long time ago, but if I were you, I’d stop repeating this shit before it gets out of hand.
Again, the only point I’m making is that John’s inclusion was done for a very lame reason and I hate seeing the race/gender card played when it comes to the creative direction of a story. In this case, John’s inclusion underminds the concept of gathering a team of what’s supposed to be the most powerful hero’s when u include a member whom is considerably weaker then the alternative (being jordan and Kyle). If there was some reasonable story driven explanation as to why Jordan or Kyle wasn’t avaible I could have accepted it, but much like Hawkgirl’s inclusion it was done for the sake of diversity which sounds really silly and wonky if u ask me.
