While true, there is the other side of the equation that is perhaps just as much at fault: Capcom really didn’t try to market Darkstalkers/Vampire as well as they could have, over here.
They basically just did more to “put them out there”, with not too much in the way of appropriate marketing to go with 'em. And in the end, not knowing what the games were about, most arcade-goers just did more to stick with what they knew they liked: Alpha and Marvel.
I’d like to think that, even if the Vampire series was still fairly an underground thing, perhaps whatever amount of scene it got would be enough for Capcom to be willing to take another chance with the property…assuming they ever come back to it. :shy:
I just tried Vampire Savior in MAME, damn what an atmospheric fighter. The characters, graphics and music just suit the game so amazingly well. Morrigan is such a naughty succubus.
And it still has the strategies of the other capcom games aswell. Cancels and specials and super bars and whatnot.
No kidding, those Dramatic special moves have seriously weird inputs. LP HP <- HK LK for one of Morrigan’s moves. I managed to pull off a few on the keyboard actually, once I figured out the timing. But they also had the hadoken and shoryuken movements in there.But man, it has the most detailed graphics and best music I’ve heard in a game of this kind.
And according to the FAQs, nearly every move can be cancelled into another. I was mostly just spamming kick and punch keys until I figured out a couple combos that gave OK damage…forget to execute those drama moves in a CPU fight, though At least without an arcade stick.
i played darkstalkers 3 when i was only eight and i still love it. i do hope one day capcom releases another darkstalkers so everyone who never got a chance plays it and sees how cool it was
I don’t know which of those three games I would want the most. I know I’d love ANY of those 3 games. Maybe DS a little more then RS and RS more then Power Stone but still.
Man… you put a Vampire Savior HD Remix on PSN and people will download it just because. I’m not worried about that stuff nowadays. WE will appreciate it, but the casuals will bring in the sales. Just because. Put the game on PSN and maybe an extra mode as DLC. “Oooh DLC! What’s this game? I dont know but it has DLC. And it’s on PSN!” (Downloads)
I miss Vampire Series. I sold Vampire Darkstalkers Collection, other imports, and modded PS2 for money to buy crack. And now I’m regretful. PS3 doesnt play ps2 games but I guess it plays
PS1. Would it be worth getting Darkstalkers 3 for PS1? If so, I know I’m looking at less content, frames, loading, and what else?
Should I cop it, or just call myself a dumb asshole and forget about it?
P.S. There is one track I cannot find anywhere. It’s that Donavan one that was on Vampire Savior 2? Who can tell me the name of it and where I can even listen to it, let alone get it?
