Darkstalkers (Vampire) series appreciation thread

I like VS, but it’s a bit too rushdown oriented for my tastes. I wish it had more variety. I still enjoy playing it from time to time with Lei Lei and Talbain though.

What would y’all like to see in a new sequel since SF4 did good. Out of curiousity.

I remember playing Vampire Savior 3 on PS1 when I was sick that day. When I first played it, the characters were colorful, funny, and had a nice set of combos. One of my favorite characters were Felicia. I liked everything about her, hell I even named my first cat “Felicia” (May her soul R.I.P). I find the other female characters from the game were popular and sexy too. After that, I’ve been following that series ever since on almost every Capcom fighting game until I almost forgotten about it. Then, I played The Chaos Tower to refresh my memory and I enjoyed so much that I couldn’t stop playing it.

I hope they make a sequel after the success of SFIV and I believe Ono-san can make it happen. All we have to do is demand for it’s return similiar to Street Fighter IV. When that day comes, beware my Felicia’s monsterous combos.

By the way, I think Capcom is building hype for Darkstalkers with Udon giving us great Darkstalkers books and SFIV becoming a worldwide seller. Hopefully, they put the game on PSN or XBLA.

PS: For the ones who like the series, go to the link on my sig. :lovin:

~Darkstalkers Forever

I just recently played Vampire Savior 1 and 2. Q Bee caught my eye, especially since she can sting you with her butt…

Vs rules… I hope that due to the success of sf4…
That vampire saviour & marvel vs capcom 3 are next!!!

Ideally, I would like to see what could be done, in either SF4 or TvC’s engines.

Do more to basically pick up where Savior left off, and we would have a great game on our hands, either way.

For a sequel I’d want it to bring like maybe three or four new characters and maintain the same speed as Vampire Savior. I’m not sure if I want it to keep the game’s soul/life based round progression or just go back to normal rounds though.

Also put in an extra that would swap Morrigan’s model for her Vampire sprites just for some laughs.

The characters with a star by them is still in the game but not in the story.
Returning characters for Vampire Ressurrection:

Morrigan/Lilith

Felicia

Anakaris

Zabel Zarock

Bulleta

Aulbath

Huitzil

Bishamon*- In Bishamon’s ending, the guy he possessed has supposedly exorcised him. So I don’t think the armor will be coming back in the story. But he is still liked a lot by Darkstalker fans so of course he should be put in to play as.

Jedah

Demitri

Q-Bee

Sasquatch

Gallon *- He is still searching for the wolf that knows the answer so he won’t be as involved in the story. He’s just there to push his skills to the limits as usual.

Victor*- Reason why I’m not sure but I think he dies in his ending after trying to revive the girl he’s connected to. Like I said I think so correct me if wrong.

NEW NIGHT WARRIORS COME TO FIGHT FOR SUPREMECY:

Anita/Donovan- Donovan is an alternative costume just for fans to play with.

Pyron Bit- It is pretty much an offspring of Pyron who was left on another planet to grow if Pyron should be destroyed. It has now matured and has made it’s way to Earth to continue Pyron’s course of action.

Egabril(Gabriel);Christopher Walken/The Prophecy Knockoff- This is pretty much just a character loosely based off of the antagonist off of the horror movie classic “The Prophecy”. More details to come for this one. He kind of relates to Jedah personality wise. But Jedah is more as insane I want to save everyone no matter what the cost is as to I’m going to destroy everything because I was cast out with the humans.

Ichabod Crane/Headless Horseman Hybrid knockoff- I want Bishamon in the storyline but if Capcom does decide to do a 4th installment I don’t know what kind of direction they’ll take. So this character is Bishamon’s replacement storyline wise. A random guy who wants revenge on a Class C Darkstalker for killing his great-grandfather. When he does avenge him the soul of the spectre decides to take over his body in retaliation, and uses him as a tool to wreak more havoc inside the soulless inhabitants of the forest it resides in waiting for more victims becoming stronger.

Rex Beta; Experiment gone wrong/knockoff of the monster from Wes Craven’s “Mind Ripper”- I don’t think capcom has done a experiment gone wrong monster yet so that’s where this character fits in. Escaping from a government base a creature of destructive magnitude has been terrorizing the countryside, and devouring people as it goes. Now it has found it’s way to the dark ones. The experiment doesn’t know what is friend or foe only that it has a hunger that must be stopped

Vampire Ressurrection Fighting System

The main goal of the fighting mechanics for this installment is to give it a hybrid vibe of playing Vampire, Vampire Hunter, Vampire Savior, and Vampire Savior 2. Vampire Hunter 2 didn’t really do much to advance the series. So you can obtain the style of play that all fans of the series can come back to yet still have a freshening new element added to it.

In order to do this, it must have the most important aspects in each system to blend it into a satisfactory design that casual as well as the hardcore will be attracted to. Vampire: The Night Warriors had chain combos into special which was very simple to do. Example: Light, Medium, Fierce -> Chaos Flare.

Vampire Hunter brought Pursuits, Es Pursuits, and a ex special meter bar. But most important characters had their own individual ability specials exp Morrigan’s mirror image, Gallon’s after image, etc. Vampire Savior did the most to advance the series for presentation though. A whole new heath bar which recovers depending on damage, Dark Force which was basically the revision to the abilities from Hunter but now everybody has it and a new round placement mechanic was thrown in that had a resemblance to Killer Instinct round settings.

Vampire Savior 2 they made a 3rd revision to the Dark Force system. The Dark Force now is a ability that’s worth 2 stock of meters to do. It enchances a character’s Es and Ex moves to make them more dangerous is a shared mechanic. As for the character personal abilities, they are now as they were in Vampire Hunter.

Nice.
I had an Idea for a darkstalker character that was inspired from a yugioh card, kinda hard to describe but basically its like a female treant/fairy that uses vines as whip attacks.

Anyway, does anyone think that guard cancels should have a meter cost but be easier to perform? Or that pushblock have like a two button command?
I’m fairly new to VS and since I mostly play MVC2 it just seems more natural to have it that way but I don’t know maybe it would mess up the game.

Guard Cancels imho should just stay meterless. Makes it more interesting that way to me. Plus if Mahvel had meterless GC a lot f characters I believe would have more of a fighting chance. I can imagine it in high level play. Low tier characters spamming GC into Super every chance they get lol. Actually…Sentinel would be even more deadly then. : (

Felicia and Morigan are hot

G.O.T, don’t forget about a Jason Voorhees type character.

i will admit it, im kinda a noob here. i never heard of GGPO before, if someone could point me in the right direction im on it. im insanely down for VS. i will take anyone one up on learning it too ha. if your down hit me up!!!

Personally, I would be totally fine if they just released VS as an x-box live game, like they did with HD remix? Wouldn’t you guys drop $15 for that, if it had online play?

mos def, and they should hop on that shit.

Secondly, and this is just pure conjecture, but i have seen more swag been pump out in the VS vein

hence

why would they bring this out for no reason?

I for one loved the DS/VS sereis. It would be nice if capcom did a sequel. But as usual, they think us Americans wouldn’t appreciate it or some shit like that. I have the VSChronicles games for the DC. Though not arcade perfect, it gets the job done.

x2

I love VS. I’ve been trying to get into it for a very long time. I’ve played VH for very long on my Saturn, but I never got very competitive with it.

I’ve never been on ggpo or 2df, but if anyone would be willing to help me get into this game I’d do it in a flash.

There’s not too many low tiers in MVC2 that can make use of guard cancels, also Cable would get a boost from that. with two bars he would GC xx two AHVB’s.

Love VS. Kinda liked Nightwarriors better, though, even if it did feel slower compared to VS, though. Guess it’s mainly because they removed a few of Felicia’s moves that I actually liked, although over the years, I’ve begun to realize more and more why they were removed, but nevertheless, I still wish she had them in VS. At least Delta Kick was a nice addition to her moveset.

Also, thanks for posting those videos up, psycho. I’ve never seen high-level VS play before. Having played VS many times, I knew it was fast, but damn… It’s kinda tough to keep up with what’s going on. I can’t say much that hasn’t already been said: a good defense definitely seems necessary if you want to play well.

As for any further installments to the series… I dunno about that… I just don’t think I’d like what they’d do very well. The thought of it gives me bad vibes, though I can’t figure out why…

Well I think Zabel aka Raptor is pretty much that imo…I think? Not sure. He seems to fit psychopath/Risen from the dead killer/Zombie All wrapped into one package. Which Capcom has seemed to do just that with the Darkstalkers. One package into one character.

This is how I always saw it even as a kid.
