Can you blame them when their only legal plug-into-the-TV-and-play option is the 7-year-old PS2 port? Every other American DarkStalkers port has been a botch job to one degree or another. The Saturn port of Night Warriors was respectable, but who owns a Saturn? I do because I’m cool as fuck, but everyone else was dry humping PS1 back then and those ports of DarkStalkers and Vampire Savior had crippling animation cuts. It’s a miracle that there are any American DarkStalkers fans when you consider how terribly Capcom has treated the franchise in this country.
The short version is that Capcom is 100% to blame for 1. treating the franchise like shit in America and 2. not releasing a port with GGPO for the modern consoles.

Yes, I’m fucking serious. When I say Niitsuma I also mean the rest of his team too. MvC3 may have a lot of scrubby shit in it, but the game has improved substantially with it’s upgrade and they’ve shown that they can effectively change the pace and style of a game without breaking it(lolz AE). There are also people on his team like NeoG who have actually worked on Vampire Titles and they’ve even made their own quirky fighters like TvC which is pretty damn good for a Wii exclusive fighter. Why the hell do we want Ono to troll us with retarded Blanka toys in a game that plays nothing like Street Fighter?

when VS came out, it was still during the time frame where capcom just didn’t give a shit about ports. I think the only system to have accurate ports was the sega saturn for the era. It wasn’t exactly #1 on their list especially since arcade were still popping @ the time. Ports back then were just shitty.
ultima, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about honestly. VH is not better than VS, not even the Japanese players agree on this and they’ve played the game longer than ANYONE. It feels like its just super sluggish and incomplete. The funny part about this though is that the vs jap scene is VERY picky. So pick in fact that when VS2 came out, it was watered down and scrubbier and no one liked it and they went back to the previous version which is VS. If hunter was really that good and everyone felt the same, they would of went back to hunter but they didn’t. VS is the best version of the series period and that is coming from players who’ve tried both for 10+ years versus your 30 mins of playing each probably
typically, the only people who say hunter is better are the SF players because it plays more like SF where VS plays more like marvel. VS is faster, better tempo, better use of the engine, better balance definitely. Hunter IMO actually has NOTHING on VS a game.

its not about old vs new. Its about good design versus bad design and games from 10+ years ago have better design for competition where as games now are better designed for sales. Those 2 concepts will forever be in conflict with each other and some of guys on here should note that. Things like comeback factors and hand holding don’t create good competitive games, they may have a competitive scene but so does checkers.
I’m pretty sure you’re talking about the gameplay system itself, which really doesn’t have all that much to do with Nitsuma afaik. Neo G was the head battle designer. The man who played a big role in the battle design of cvs2, marvel 2, third strike, and more.
I’m pretty sure this won’t be a sequel to Vampire Savior.
In the end of Vampire Savior, theres 2 possible endings. A.) Morrigan saves the day and kills Jedah after he absorbed countless numbers of souls (thus killing off Jedah and other characters) or B.) Everyones now a part of the Fetus of God and theres no point. So this will probably be a prequel. Or a rehash. Or something.
Or Capcom could do what they always do and come up with some silly random explanation for everyone being alive again.
I don’t think anyone would complain if Capcom screws with the narrative to bring back Jedah.

I’ve yet to see a game receive improvement in the visuals on the jump from 2D to 3D (why Fire Emblem whyyyy) and I will remain skeptical of all 3D that isn’t necessary for the game to work until I am proven wrong.

Jedah reincarnated himself, so unless Morrigan figured out a way to permanently kill him (don’t think she’s ever shown actually killing him), he will be back.
The bigger question is whether Pyro will be back.
Jedah can reincarnate, yeah, but depending on how he dies (if he died by Morrigan it was probably pretty brutal) then it takes longer for him to come back. It took him 1000 years to revive after he died from absorbing too many souls at once.
