Wait, why has this turned into super fanfic fighter?
and amingo and his ridiculous hitbox on his j.hk!
I thought Belial (Morrigan’s father) was dead.
If we’re doing ideas here for new characters, I still lik my idea of a dryad/plant-creature. Kind of like Amingo (I think he might even be too goofy for this game), except with some zoning moves in vines, traps, whatever. And hey, new female character. Maybe.
Though if we do happen to get Amingo by whatever off-chance, I guess I’d be obliged to alt him just from my name.
Tessa is fine too.
One thing about returners, though, is that I hope they don’t keep Hsien-Ko as super moe desu~. That was a disappointing change of character in MvC3 (especially that voice, uggh). And if Lilith’s back, then she should take that spot. Where’s my Badass Adorable Lei Lei?
So what do we talk about next?
I think you don’t have any experience at all when it comes to the series because- as with MANY re-iterations of Capcom FGs- characters go through a buffing/nerfing process. A good example is Morrigan. In the first two titles of the series, Morrigan was a monster. Her rushdown was really safe and effective and lead to many high damage, high success mixups. When they removed the Shell kick from her arsenal in VSav, it didn’t really dumb down her gameplan or made it any different from her other versions. Morrigan still has the effective rushdown mixups, however, in VSav they added in the concepts of Pushblocking and kept the Alpha Counters intact in order to help ease the amount of offense that the game is capable of. Also, several characters do what Morrigan does, only better. Queen Bee, Sasquatch, Lord Rapter, and Jedah for example all have similar options to Morrigan but are easier to do.
If you talk to anyone who actually has experience playing this game in beyond a casual level, they will attest to the true amount of skill and depth of Vampire Savior. I haven’t met a single person who can just pick up the game and be effective without having to truly delve into the engine/spend time with the game. Not to bash on games such as SFIV or MVC3, but people can be effective at a mid- to low level without investing too much time into the game. However, with Vampire Savior this is not the case. A mid-level player will crush someone who hasn’t paid their dues yet.
Exactly my point. People don’t care until they butt their way into threads saying “VSav is garbo, make it like VHunter please.” My thing about it is, where’s the credible argument in that? Ideally, game companies look at the interest on people who are PLAYING THE GAMESSSSSSS, not the people who are preaching in the forums. The people who are playing the games are the people that truly care about the franchise and want to see it succeed (myself included). However, the things that I’m worried about are a loss of the true nature of the Vampire series in general (Fast-paced, offense-oriented gameplay, interesting characters, a different direction in terms of standards). I don’t want to see cinematic supers, round systems (downs were an amazing idea) and mechanics designed to help bridge the gap between experienced players and casual players. Vampire isn’t about that at all. It’s supposed to be hard. It’s supposed to be fast. It’s supposed to be different.
Quick history lesson: Why did Vampire fail in an era where fighting games saturated the market since it was a refreshingly new idea? Lack of familiarity. Shit was weird. People already knew what SF was, so there wasn’t any reason for them to support the franchise. That’s why Darkstalkers characters are limited to Cameos in other FGs instead of getting their own unique title. The community outside of Japan has shown that they are fond of the characters, but not really the game itself. They simply aren’t playing it. So why continue to churn out games for a franchise that isn’t going anywhere? Out of some sense of nostalgia? What nostalgia? People know the characters, but they didn’t fuck with the game too much to even begin to have a credible argument towards how the game should be played. It’s like having someone who played MK all his life tell you how you should make the new TOBAL game. Why should we cater to the masses who aren’t going to take this game seriously at all (3S:OE is a great example of this) out of some misplaced sense of nostalgia? I played Dig Dug when I was a kid. Where’s my HD 3D Dig Dug re-make?
But enough of this Debbie Downer styled post. I for one am a HUGE advocate of having Amingo put into the game. He fits the art-style and personality of the cast soooooo welll, even though he doesn’t pertain to a particular horror stereotype. Ruby Heart doesn’t really fit into this game well aside from the fact that she is a pirate. We have 6 female characters already in the game. And a wide variety of personalities/stereotypes are already in the game. Her graphical style and personality doesn’t really fit into the game at all. She was a Marvel 2 exclusive and imo should remain that way. What is her connection the Vampire series besides the fact that she’s a pirate and can summon ghosts? At least Amingo is this funky Cactus guy who looks just as goofy as all the other cast does.
You forgot to call him out on Pyron > *. One does not mention anyone above all in Hunter mentioning Sas and Fish. They’re your characters!
After waking up a bit, I can accept Amingo in a new DS. I just thought the sombrero + poncho would be too… literal for a DS game, though like I said, I’d probably just end up using him anyway.
All fighters need a token mexican now
So Amingo has to be in
And you need a token Son Goku
And a token Pirate
And a token magical girl
This! I personally know from my experience modding Unity that alot of the so called Darkstalkers fans there don’t really seem to be interested in the game itself.
Amingo isnt mexican, what the fuck
For some reason that made me laugh.
What is a token magical girl anyway? haha
I hated what they did with MvC3, so I’m definitely not in favor of Niitsuma getting the project.
I want a timeskip, so we can see Anita grown up.
Didn’t she like, murk SSJ Donovan? Man, I know she has to be top-tier.
Are you fucking serious?
I know, right?
This nigga said Felicia is a ninja… Awwwwwman…
Dude, those Capity kids don’t give a shit about Darkstalkers.
They just care about tig ol’ bitty Morrigan and oh! Oh! Demitri/Donovan look so cool! I want him in MvC3 with Megaman!!
Lil B voice Yesssss.
Tessa is a classy lady.
She would also fulfill the Token Redhead role. Though I wonder how her move set would transition to a Magic Series game; her normals are mostly built around pokes, some of which are meant to be delayed.
Amino isn’t stated to be Mexican, but with his clothes, it’s pretty obvious what he was intended to remind us of. Also, he could play the Token Fat Guy. DS doesn’t have any fat people in it (except for one of Demitri’s houseguests).
You forgot Talbain. Everyone at Unity wants Wolf.
Yeah, Anita killed Dee. Knowing Capcom/video game plots, he’ll get resurrected as Donovan again.
I wonder how her move set would work? Would she be a zoning-heavy character with psychic powers and poor defensive options?
If there’s a time skip, what happens to BB?
After thinking about it, I don’t think Capcom should commit to a new Darkstalkers game just yet. Why don’t they test the waters first by releasing Vampire Savior on Live Arcade/PSN? Throw in online play and see how many people bite. If it sells well enough to validate a new game then that’s great. If not, well remakes are pretty inexpensive so Capcom doesn’t lose much.
But then the current online scene gets fragmented. It’s an odd situation.
If its a time skip, seeing Anita and Bulleta face off would be kind of neat. One is the savior of humanity and represents human goodness, and the other is a greedy self-serving killer with no regard for the lives of others. Kind of like Gouken vs. Akuma, but cooler.
It may not be ideal for the players but until Microsoft and Sony settle their differences and decide that allowing the systems to play with each other on multi-platform games is really not that bad of an idea it’s the best Capcom can do.
^ You’re not gonna get that kind of service on a closed system like a console. It’s too customer-friendly. When capcom released DS1 psx version on PSN, they claimed they were more or less testing the waters. Too bad no one wants that kusoge.
And fwiw BB Hood’s actually not a little girl but some weird midget disguised as a little girl. And that’s not just what the doujin-ka claim.
Wasn’t trying to go fan fic. I was simply expressing what other good horror/monster types that Capcom has without repeating what’s already there. If new characters are made what would be the logical choices sort of thing. And ninjas in games are expressed as being fast and Felicia is one of the fastest and slashiest around thus fitting her into the ninja archetype. originals
I’m glad so many agree on Ruby, Tessa, and Amingo.
I’d also like to see them rerelease the ooriginals as a download in HD.
I approve this message
Anita was going to have this part. Tessa fans shut the fuck up.
Red Earth is always going to remain separate from the darkstalkers universe
Savior is that time skip.
