'Darkstalkers' trademark renewed

Good News: Vampire Savior is going to be on PSN!

Bad News: I just bought Darkstalkers on PSN a couple of weeks ago because I didn’t know the difference :frowning:

I doubt that this is the last we’ll see of Darkstalkers given the teasers they made. I don’t remember seeing a bunch of Cyberbots teasers and it’s on PSN, so I doubt that they made them just to promote the PSN release. I would really like to see a new Darkstalkers. I haven’t gotten to play it much, but it has a lot of cool character designs and I’d love to see some new ones show up.

Speaking of Cyberbots, if a new Darkstalkers happens, you guys should make a petition for Cyberbots. My life doesn’t have enough robot fighting.

Exactly.

Like I said, if MVC2/MVC3 is anything to go by, we’ll be hearing an announcement soon enough.

If/when the announcement of a new game comes, I hope the big reveal trailer is set to The Trouble Man.

Pretty much all of the Darkstalkers games were PS and Saturn ports(with none for VSav as far as I can tell). Could this get in the way of a possible Vampire Savior OE for both HD consoles in the future?

I like the timing of it all tbh. It could be late enough that Ono’s team will be stuck working on SFxTekken leaving Niitsuma’s team open for the job and close enough to the next gen that it’d be the perfect test game for Capcom before they start up their plans for SFV. I personally hope for a timeline like this…

Spring 2012- SFxTekken comes out and SF team is busy with DLC and a digital update after TekkenxStreet Fighter.
Summer 2012- Niitsuma teases work on project for Japanese audience. Can’t say what they are working on, but nothing is official yet.
Summer/Fall/Winter 2012- Capcom is busy providing DLC and building an AE style update for SFxTekken.
Spring 2013- TekkenxStreet Fighter comes out and Capcom’s internal clock begins ticking. Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers collection OE released for HD consoles+Wii U.
Early Summer/E3 2013- SFxTekken gets a digital update, Darkstalkers 4 is announced as officially in the works for the PC, Wii U, PS4 and 720 as a Spring 2014 release.
Early Fall(none of that UMvC3 madness for sure) 2013- UMvC3 gets an AE style update.
Spring 2014- Darkstalkers 4 is released.

Capcom is in no real rush right now tbh. They’ve got a few more updates up their sleeves, but Niitsuma is apparently not working on UMvC3 right now and they surely have at least two next gen dev kits in their hands right now. Whether or not DS happens probably depends on how SFxTekken and other fighting games do in the coming months. The whole thing could be sped up even faster if Capcom doesn’t do anything for Mahvel 3(which I could see tbh) or if Namco doesn’t make them wait too long to release fighting games post TxSF. Darkstalkers 4 seems like such an outlandish idea that I can’t see it happening though.

That would be pretty far away. Could they continue to ignore Steam? It’ll probably have six million concurrent daily users by the time a DS4 comes out. Even Sega made a bold move by releasing Sonic Generations with Steamworks.

There was that JP-only release for the Dreamcast, Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service…but no one is talking about that. :frowning:

Anyways, Darkstalkers 3 coming to PSN? Most likely the PSX version but hey, it’s…something, at least.

lol what a douchebag

you’ve never seen me play, you don’t know how good I am so what are you so confident about my skill level?

never mind that I’ve beaten multiple top 8 players spanding multiple games, taught top 8 players new tricks and tactics they didn’t knew existed and taught several other players to crack top 8 op 12 at big tournaments.

so go fuck yourself.

and if you got beef with me, holla @ me in person and we can settle it there.

I definately hope the new DS would be on next gen consoles.
pleaaaase bring some godlike netcode.

They’re doing PSX ports because it takes Capcom no effort whatsoever to just upload ISO files to PSN.

Which is exactly how much effort Capcom is willing to give Darkstalkers: None.

Your intellect is clearly quite win.
People still say “holla” ?
Name four people you have taught to be on par with these top 8 players beyond just telling them what they likely already knew.
Let me see your rigorous training regiment to train these alleged superstars.

My face when you literally make this easier than it has to be to point out all your flaws.

I don’t see what all the nonsense is about SFxT and vice versa. I think it’s a mistake but I haven’t given it a fair chance from the beginning. And there’s no way SFxT would be getting an AE update before Ultimate, all things considered. You also forgot that Winter 2012 is supposed to be Megaman’s Anniversary so that’s when I’m thinking Ultimate is getting it’s T3 update much like AE was to SSF4 (Maybe Megaman inclusion and some new characters?). And there’s no way Capcom is going to jump on the new systems with a game like that. They generally like to start with a more mainstream title to test the waters before hand. But you never know they may go big, I just don’t see it happening.

Yeah, probably not.

I forgot about the anniversary. Yeah, this makes it a good time for a release. UMvC3 will also get it’s shot at EVO which will convince most players that the game got it’s fair shake when the update is announced. It makes a lot of sense. My main issues mostly had to do with Namco and Capcom’s unknown arrangements regarding fighting game releases. Namco might have made an agreement with Capcom that would bar them from releasing a big fighter for a period of months before and after release of TxSF so I figured Mahvel 3 was done. UMvC3 didn’t meet their expectations(for now), fans are pissed, and Marvel’s insistence on release schedules seems like it’s more trouble than it’s worth. A fall release for this game would certainly speed up the development of a new game from Capcom(new IP or not).

New systems are one of the best ways to dust off an old series. It works well because people are hungry for software. Games like Metroid Prime came early in the Gamecube’s life and managed to sell great(easy 1million+). The Wii had niche games that also sold extremely well(Trauma center games broke 500k, Red Steel 1 million, No more Heroes over 400k) thanks to an audience looking for software near launch. A high quality Capcom fighter brought back from the dead is a recipe for amazing sales no matter how you look at it. It also gives Capcom’s developers a chance to stretch their legs with a less valuable IP which they can afford to mess up from the start. Do you really think that Capcom wants to dip their toes in three new consoles using a mainline SF game without knowing the hardware more fully? It would still take another two years before they can even make a mainline game if they go with some “Alpha” styled game. A new or old series not related to SF(Hey there Mahvel!) would coexist much better with a new SF game if they are made close together.

Word. If they gave a fuck, they’d either port the Sega Saturn Nightwarriors (better than psx DS 1 and 3) or port the ps2 Vampire Collection. And if they DO decide to go ahead with DS4…dear god, give it to the mvc3 team. Last thing we need is for everybody to LOSE supers, like in sf4 and be rendered with such hideous designs, with CONSTANT silliness rather than the occasional goofs. Niitsuma seems to have a far better ability to stay true to a game’s origins/intent than Ono, who seems to want to turn hardcore violence into nintendo-esque kiddy fare.

He is/was on par with top 8 players when MVC2 was a main game.

That is the only video of the casuals he played, but you can clearly see that he is as good as he says he is. And if you want to learn a game, he will teach it tp you, his bee taught me to learn to pushblock in VS. Seriously you sound like some kind internet keyboard smartass.

Was the DC version arcade perfect or better than the PSX ports? I’m guessing this is the version they’d use for an OE edition

Fake edit:

I like this. I’m reading the IGN review too and it seems like this was the only non playstation 2/saturn port that was also arcade perfect. DS1 and DS3 are easy cash ins that still leave Capcom with the option of picking this version if they want to give the game to both HD console audiences as an OE too. The fact that the collection is a PS2 game would stop Capcom from releasing it on both consoles, right? This could be an easy out.

How many times do I have to say Vampire Chronicles/Dc version/PSP version is fucking horrible?

Apparently more than once. Just ctrl+F’d all the pages until I found that particular post.

I guess 360 owners are assed out?

Edit: Wait, even the PSP version is bad? I thought that one was supposedly good. What the fuck then.

You can’t say it enough times for us to think it’s worse than psx D3. Still wondering how you judge quality, if you’re championing a butchered-frames, loading-intensive, pastel-tinted version of a fighter that was done better everywhere else. Having owned VC on DC and psp, it beats the hell outta psx D3.

Well too bad it is only the psx version you are getting at the moment.

Edit:

It is a port of the dc version with simplified inputs.

And that’s why they ain’t getting my money. Vote with your cash people. Don’t buy shit in the hopes of getting something better. They’ll just assume you’ll buy any lazy-ass crap they put out. Don’t reward bad behavior!!

Minor nitpick, but I got confused here. At what point was Street Fighter “hardcore violence?” Most people would categorize hardcore violence as blood, gore, etc., but I guess it’s all perspective. I also don’t see such a big leap in silliness from previous SF titles to SF4; the terrible designs were more from the models looking blocky and generally kind of awkward.
