'Darkstalkers' trademark renewed

After mvc3(not umvc3) was announced.

Darkstalkers series has so much detail. I hope they don’t fuck up

Hope they make a new game PERIOD.

Fixed.

^ you don’t play on GGPO right?

No, but the same thing happens every time either a new game comes out, or an old one gets re-released on contemporary gaming platforms.

Why do you think the MVC2 crowd likes to bash MVC3 so much, even when it’s not even a subject? Because MVC2 is damn near dead. There was a point when they used to try and troll the MVC3 discussion thread to, and this is what someone actually said, “get more people playing a better game”.

Shoultzula put up a thread not too long ago, asking why don’t more people on SRK play on GGPO. On the surface, it was saying that playing older games will help your reflexes and reaction time in newer games. Looking past the surface, however, it was basically a “why don’t more people play OUR games?” thread.

So, if/when a new DS comes out, the “purists” will bitch that it isn’t Vampire Savior, go back to playing VS on GGPO, and as the player base dwindles, bitch about how hardly anyone will be playing on GGPO anymore.

I actually like the art style and how mvc3 looks I know this wont happen but I would like to see ono’s team and niitsuma’s team working on this one game I want ono’s team to make the gameplay, online etc and nittsuma’s to make the art style of the game even though I would be fine with anything new related to darkstalkers and do agree with Sho nuff as soon as capcom shows a trailer people will complain its happen with sf4 and mvc3

Trolls and Elitists always exist, but some of these problems are valid points, if the game is good, people will play it because of his merits, old players playing only old games is a huge generalization.

SRK =/= the world.

Also that thread has a point, playing old games with better fundamentals and mechanics against good players is always a good training, people don’t like to lose and this is a fundamental part of learning if you want to be competitive, that’s why you see a lot of rage quitters and people asking for instant rewards, learning is part of the fun.

Yeah, but in the case I was talking about, they didn’t like MVC3, so they went into the GD thread and tried to troll everyone else there into not liking it either. Why? Because their own player base was diminishing. Go into the XBL MVC2 Good Games thread. It’s literally the same 8 people posting there, with others dropping in every now and then. All they do is troll each other and call each other free, except when VDO drops in, bashes MVC3 for no reason, then somebody MIGHT toss around a “good game” or two.

But then the same person that created the thread turns around and says that today’s fighting games are so dumbed down that anybody can be competitive. If he hadn’t said that, then I’d believe that that was the actual purpose of the thread. But as soon as people started saying that GGPO was too hard to set up, how nobody wants to really play those old games, it turned into a flame war.

It pretty much supported the original claim that older games have a better fundamentals and good mechanics versus the new games. You’re sounding a bit sensitive on that whole ordeal.

So you will play it and love the hell out of it despite them possibly making it extremely bland, boring, scrubby, and not fun?

If Capcom made Darkstalkers bland it wouldn’t be Darkstalkers.

It would be Street Fighter. :U

Seems more to me like he/she is hopefully that they make a new game, not commenting that he/she would blindly accept it. That’s quite a jump you’ve made there. o_O

On-topic, I never played any of the Darkstalkers games, but they always looked SO COOL. All of the footage that I’ve seen looks sick, and all of the characters are amazing. There’s a part of me that would like a re-make for modern consoles so that I could enjoy the game(s) in its/their proper glory, but another part of me thinks that a modernization would be pretty slick as well.

Either way, I’m excited!

Vampire Hunter is fun as fuck. Vampire Savior is twice as fun, and frantic. Vampire 1 was short lived as well as slept on, and had the best footsies to be fair. The community as a whole prefers Savior just for fun factor.

No, it basically verified my point that the whole thread was a veiled “come play the games WE play, because WE’RE the only ones playing them” thread.

Savior has BB Hood, Hunter does not.

Therefore Savior>Hunter.

C’mon guys it isn’t that hard.

I invite you to see KOF 98 and 02 and the hundreds of people still playing them on GGPO, Supercade, etc. XIII also gets a lot of support: https://twitter.com/#!/Barlog_WINS/status/171808065220378625 and has a super friendly community, your point is not the same for all games, the community still love the games because they are good.

Some players are really used to see the DS characters as special guests in other games, a new DS game would be fantastic but i have my doubts about the reception because of the new Capcom fanbase and not because of the VS veterans.

Arcsys has to work on it.

Fuck it, 3 game cross over, GG, BB, VS. VS characters would fit perfectly in the GG engine. I say GG engine becuase BB is so boring.

I tried KOF XIII. It was ok, but the online was ass. I know every community isn’t like that at all, and all the time it isn’t so much the community as it is some of the players in said community that give it a black eye.

You kidding? Give them Jon Talbain and they’re good. That’s all they really whined about during MVC3’s pre-release.

Yeah I hate that division myself, where there’s these in the west:

#1. Darkstalkers players that know how to play the game
#2. Furries that want Talbain [S]or Rikuo[/S] in their bed
#3. Darkstalkers boobs fans

Unfortunately #2 and #3 make up the majority of fans of this franchise. In Japan #2 doesn’t exist at all, and #3 is actually the minority.

Who is the most popular DS character, anyway? Morrigan seems obvious, but I tend to see Felicia in a lot of places and cosplayed/whatever by people who don’t even know what she’s from.

Anyway.

Surprised I haven’t seen this brought up, but I remember reading Seth saying a while back (late last year) that it would be easier for Capcom to just make a new DS entirely than release a remake.

Food for thought and maybe a constructive conversation. Or maybe not.
