You better wear a chin guard for the 3 revisions to come afterwards, the DLC on the disk in the second revision, the 4 new characters who don’t actually fit in the DS playstyle at all, or the new universal gameplay gimmick that reviewers will fall back on when they want to note ‘what makes the game different’.
And if it happens, I’ll go back to Vsav.
Giving something a try doesn’t mean I’m forsaking what I came from.
That sort of attitude just baffles me. This place does nothing but preach about being hungry and stepping up ones game but when a new batch of potential players shows up the attitude shifts to “Fuck y’all scrubs don’t know shit bout Vampire get the fuck outta here”?
Then where was your appetite to play the older games before this was announced? Where were you asking how to get past talbain’s beast cannon? Where were you when skillionare was streaming vsav or the ggpo ranbats? Where were you when mightymar beat fl0e repeatedly? where were when Sako was playing Vsav at Evo? Where were when DCC is streaming? Where were you when Dyne made his first appearance offline?
In other words, if you didn’t want it before, you don’t deserve shit now.
No one said anything like that all. The VS community will happily have their arms open for these new players. They have never shunned people away, ever. Some of the folks in this community work absurdly hard to push a game by today’s measure has been dead for a decade. Hell, the game didn’t even have a tournament scene when it was originally released!
The community isn’t going to drop the ball, I just have no faith whatsoever in these potential players you’re talking about lasting past two months in terms of actual motivation and devotion.
I remember Final Round’s Vsav tourny and how pissed I was that it wasn’t even announced.
If the FGC ever had a cycle…this would be the cycle.
Just buy the game and stop worrying about future Darkstalkers games.
These old Darkstalkers games are a lot of fun, I promise.
Chibi getting ready for the stream monsters calling UNIB D.O.A.
Oh sure, I’ve no doubt manywill fall by the wayside but even if say o50-100 new players stick with it that’s a lot of new blood in the scene competitively speaking.
I just wonder if I’m gonna stick to my Morrigan roots.
And all that work is ruined once you get people spouting shit like this:
I was just tl;dr since I was bored. Though I do think plenty of people will drop it like flies and I do find it suspect people only care about the game now.
Not having a working laptop and barely scraping by at my job to make ends meet?trust me, I’d like nothing more than to be in there getting my ass handed to me but it just hasn’t been feasible for me for a little over a year now.
You know pre SF4 Skullgirls would have a pretty damn good scene. It being ‘dead’ now makes no sense to me.
shrug
Not many, almost everyone.
See, the only thing that happened with games getting more attention and people playing them is the pool of players to comb through, to weed out all the schmucks running with it like it’s a fashion trend has only gotten larger. Sure, a larger pool of players results with more people hopefully wanting to stick with it but the pool is still massive and the fact we have to comb through it is expected and 100% fact by now. The very NOTION of it existing is bad enough and to be honest the ratio of those playing and enjoying the act of getting better to those that jumped on has become so lopsided, well that’s where jaded fuckers like me come in.
People will drop it faster if y’all act like elitist pricks looking down on folk just getting into it now.
On a related note, people should really look at what the DOA community at FSD. I mean, they knew their game had a bad rep and they’ve been doing all that they can to promote the new game (DOA5) above and beyond what TN is doing. Say what you will about the series, but these guys are working their darned hardest to get their numbers and promote their scene.
I like how, once there’s a patch in the wings, people stop playing.
I really hope those that 2009er shit doesn’t happen with Vsav.
Vsav is one of the nicer communities that have no problems introducing new players in the scene.
Yet you get new games you could of saved that money and built a computer.
Aren’t you used to being poverty by now?
I know I am.
Play in them bathrooms.
I don’t mind weeding the idiots out from the people who want to try, I do it everyday at my college.
(My group), 5 idiots, 1 new person who wants to learn, and another I got to stop talking shit because I bopped him and hopefully he’ll want to take a game seriously.
