Buy it anyway, VSav is a great game.
Three annoying fucking things about DSR:
- You can’t skip the endings. You have to watch them and the credits COMPLETELY every time.
- Trials / challenges - you HAVE to watch the demonstration before you begin, and if you want to watch it again, you have to exit and go back. You can’t just click “replay” or something.
- The text is all in HD and looks funky against the low res win screens. It’s actually really distracting.
Other than that - Congrats Iron Galaxy, third time’s a charm, eh? Good port overall - and unlike MvCO, it’s a port of a good game. 
It’s been forever since I’ve played Dark Stalkers 2, and that was when I was just a kid before I really knew how to play fighting games, I remember playing Donavan and Zabel.
Can someone who is familiar with the series recommend a character who is mix-up based? I like el-fuerte, makoto, and seth in SSF4, all mix-up type characters.
Good port imo, it’s been like 15 years since i touched a Darkstalkers game and i’m happy to see this port at least because i never had the opportunity before to play it on ggpo : /
Played some ranked and noticed my winstreak gets reset, when I back out of the lobby. Weird.
Based on the 3s patch notes I believe this is intended behavior

This game is full of people who do not want to play. I’ll find a match, hit ready but the other guy doesn’t. Maybe it’s my connection they see and don’t like it BUT they don’t click “ready” or “back”. Instead, they just sit there. It’s like people bought the game just to do this, to find you in a match but never fight you or leave. Is this a new form of trolling? I have been waiting on one guy to hit ready for over 6 minutes now, WTF?!
I talked with one person online telling me the reason they were doing that was because they are new to the series and want to stay in the room to watch a bit before jumping into the rotation.

Nice for the disc release to exist, tried getting friends into this before but none will touch GGPO and it’s easier to take a disk out somewhere than a bloody computer.
Now just got to wait for it to get to England and for Parcelforce to finish taking several times longer than the length of that journey sodding around charging extortionate handling charges after it gets hit by customs to hold it in a depot in the middle of nowhere which is only open to actually pick the thing up during office hours, because this is what we do in the UK.
It’ll be worth it though.

The movement is crazy and frantic compared to marvel and street fighter.
this happens in the other IG ports too. the nearest I’ve been able to figure out is that they don’t want to play you but don’t want to feel like they’re ducking you. or maybe a dominance thing "I’m gonna wait him out until he hits back first.’ it’s pretty stupid. on the other hand everyone who does this universally ends up being a bad player anyway so no loss.
I suppose you’re right but my god is it annoying.
How the hell do you mount any sort of wake-up in this game? With the tech roll it’s hard to guess what to do rather it be on the offensive or defensive. As a Demitri player I may throw a fireball but why bother? The opponent may tech roll toward me and attack on wake-up, point blank range as I recover. In the meantime I may try to Demon Cradle on wake-up but the opponent is all over the screen or cross me-up, hence f’ing up my command input.
I personally feel like all the conveniences make the purchase worth it.
Especially the youtube and training mode features. GGPO is great and all, but personally I’ve never been really good at practicing stuff that requires a dummy on my SHMUPMAME ghetto training mode and I’ve never tried to record footage of anything ever either.
Not to mention buying this will determine if we get a new Darkstalkers.

Dude me too, even with perfect connection. At first I thought people were ducking me because my GT may give off the impression that I’m actually good at the game. But it seems like other people are experiencing this too.
Some of the in-game tutorials and challenges are pretty goofy in my opinion like Jedah’s crouching LK, link crouching LP, crouching MP, crouching HK. Big woop! I can do it w/o the LP and still does the same amount of damage more or less. Plus, he has no specials he can combo into. Now, if it was (I’m making this up), crouching LK, link crouching MK to Chaos Flare with Demitri then I might understand.
Or you have Demitri’s multiple Air ES Chaos Flares against a jumping cornered opponent challenge. I’m sorry but outside of a fancy combo video when am I ever going to see this?
I think they need to rethink some of the shit they put in here. I remember in 3S with Twelve, do like 3 EX NDLs on Elena. What?! WHY?! The timing had to be precise, the damage was crap and it wastes bar. It looked but far from practical. I think some of the stuff in the tutorials are nice like the unblockables, teaching guard cancels and mix-ups. But crouching LK, MK, HK chain combo for Felicia? I think even a noob who has basic knowledge of chains doesn’t need to be taught this.
I dunno, maybe I’m being too elitist here.
