Can someone tell me why characters were taken out of Darkstalkers 3?
Also, it’s Night Warriors (DS1), Vampire Hunter (DS2), Vampire Savior (DS3)? I’m used to calling them Darkstalkers insert number so hearing all them all in those (real?) names confuses me.
Actually multiple arcade versions (There is more then just the 970519 build) even the Saturn version is accessible once you unlocked the characters, but yes there is. There is even switches fixes for that unblockables, glitched states, and other bugs. There is switches that allow you to select some of the secret win poses that only happen rarely like the cat win pose for Morrigan.
Off topic but when it happened to Diar he freaked out.
It may not surprise you, but there was plans to bring the ps2 collection to the states.
So how has everyone played the PS2 version of Darkstalkers? Buying a Japanese PS2?

A lot of people got a japanese ps2. Since it was quicker to import a game then wait for the official release back then. Hell even ps2 development units are pretty easy to get a hold of.
Memory limits. They couldn’t fit them into the CPS2 board.
So then, does this mean that aside from the input delay issue, there’s no reason to worry about a PS2 collection based game not being arcade perfect?
Thanks. Just checking, since I thought you might be able to modify a PS2 to play games from other region’s. I might have found a good PS2 to buy though, that even comes with some Japanese import fighting games.

How so? Didn’t SFA3 have about around 30 characters and DS3 around 20? Did it have something to do with animations or something?

Vampire Hunter aka Night Warriors
Vampire Savior it was only called Darkstalkers 3 on the psx version.
Vampire: The Night Warriors = Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers Revenge = Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge
Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire = Darkstalkers 3
Take note that the DS3 label was only applied to the US console versions. The game was originally meant to be called Darkstalkers 3: Jedah’s Damnation but for some reason, the game got released as Savior overseas as well.
As for the “Night Warriors” thing, this is one of the reasons it’s easier to just use the Japanese titles.
IIRC, Vampire characters take up more memory than SFA characters.
I’d like to play the game too. I’ll eventually do some stuff on GGPO like I started with JoJo’s (which I’m criminally bad at) though I don’t play it often enough. Jedah and Lilith interest me because they’re koo.
It also helps when multiple characters share graphics.
That Morrigan win pose happened to me twice. Ever.
without the dipswitch on, to get that winpose you must win with chip damage (cheap finish) then it will happen 1/255 times (It might not be 255, but I know its around 1/240-260)
Im not sure if any other character has a rare winpose like that. (I think Anakaris may have one)
It’s 1 in 255 or 256(if it counts 00) the max value of a byte. There is a second one for Morrigan dunno how to trigger it like the no coins win pose for Anak.

Isn’t that Morrigan winpose also a frame from her blood drain animation during Midnight Bliss? The requirements sound mid 90’s Nintendo Power April Fool’s Day specific, but I don’t doubt there being a rare chance of it occurring.
It’s a win pose for her if I put the value that on another character it will crash the game. As for the jokes you’ll see a lot of them in games. Dan on X-Ism in a3 if you use his taunt there is a chance that’ll be an unblockable knock down for 1 damage.
I wanna try and get into this on GGPO sometime this week. Who’s a good starter character? I was gonna go with Felicia and maybe Hsien-Ko/Jedah but I also kinda want to use B.B. Hood to taunt my friend.
