If you haven’t gotten this issue yet ,Brace yourself!
Chun vs. Cammy fight was great however 2 pages were swap so it was confusing. Cammy crying in regrat and guilt was great.Vega’s vendetta to Ken reminds of the US cartoon where the same thing happen with him and blanka. Sakura is finally going through some training at last!
Darkstalkers
I don’t know the cannon for this game, but this was so rated TV14 on morrigin part of the story. You don’t really know how(in detail due to censures) she feeds but you get the idea at the end of the story. I love Lee’s pencils in the comic more exotic graphic sceens is a pluse. The mini game me a good laugh and Donovan’s back -up was interesting.
Good job Udon!
Can’t wait for the next issue!
P.S: Give your hired printer a good pimp slap for the mistake :badboy:
I really enjoyed this first issue of DS. A nice setup for the story with Pyron. I jumped into the series at Vampire Savior so I didn’t know that much about Pyron or the Hutzils, so that helped me understand his role in the series. My girl Morri was captured excellently. We get to see her work her…erm…* magic*…with the unsuspecting Jack, and also the comic does a good job explaining why she goes the human world. Even though Morri was the main focus of this issue, I thought it did a good job of setting up the other characters, and with the way the main story ended, I guess it’s safe to assume Demitri will be the focus of the next issue.
Enjoyed the art style as a whole. All I’ll add is that panel Morrigan licking her lips before jumping on Jack, pure gold! Darkstalkers Mini was very good, and the side story with Donovan was very cool, really anixous to see him in action.
I can’t really find anything terribly negative to say since this was only the first issue. I can wait for the fight scenes, so long as story development stays interesting. And unlike Street Fighter, the cast is relativily small so I can see all of the characters getting their moment to shine without feeling like they need to be crammed into the book…at least, that’s what I hope. Great job Udon, I’m looking forward to Issue 2.
As for SF, Chun-Li vs Cammy was excellent and nice to see Sakura finally going to learn the hadouken. A good issue, but as you can tell, I was more focused on DS.
i think this could have been like an ultimate issue- come out with a big bang like thing- by making MAD! do the back up story too. like you have the power foil and the back up… which would be by MAD! lol… maybe in the not so distant issues??
Pyron story was great though.
BOTH GREAT ISSUES!!! i’m confused though, in many tales succubus drain to souls of there victums through there dreams, was it through his dreams or did she physically preform his desires? and the touch of cammy crying in streetfight was most touching. anyone notice how cammy’s eye colour is different from now, and when she was a shadowloo agent?
DS was awsome, ive never eally palyed the games so i dont know much about it but the first issue was great.
i love the art, it has a anime flair to it, i think SF should look like hat and yes im aware they r both from the same art team, but the style and coloring can be differentiated looks a lot better in ds me thinks. SF seems kind of stiff and kiddy cuz of the thick lines…no offense.
I loved the part when Vega goes absolutely mad about this hair. but seriously, i don’t know who was in charge for this issue, but the art was very strange… look at gouken, and chunli in the scene with fei long. and i looove Rose.
Vega killing his attendant was silly. Chun Li vs. Cammy was nice. I didn’t even notice the mixup at first, but I guess it does make a little more sense the other way around. And wow, so many dolls on one page. So every doll has appeared in the comic at least once now.
Finally something to tie up the Rose/Cammy thing. Though I was expecting it to be some kind of revelation; instead it was pretty unremarkable… Rose finds Killer Bee, Rose takes Killer Bee. Makes me wonder why it was put off for so long.
Oh yeah, and Darkstalkers was good. Even though I’ve played the games I still don’t know much about it, so it was nice to be able to start the story without too many expectations.
First off, I immediately knew that “Anne” was Morrigan. How? I’m ashamed to admit it, but it was the way her breasts were drawn. I have an uncanny ability to recognize chicks by their T&A, real or not. Yeah, I know it’s sad…
Anyway…
Street Fighter #11: Vega killing his attendant was clich. I saw it coming a mile away. Anyway, Chun Li vs. Cammy is the best fight thus far period. It even outstrips Ryu, Ken & the side of Sakura’s head vs. Gouki.
Thought: It seems now that all the things Cammy did as “Killer Bee” are coming back to her. I think a surprise is awaiting Delta Red when they return to HQ in the form of captured Dee Jay. (Remember? “Killer Bee” captured Dee Jay in NewType and he was there when Shadaloo broke out Satsuki.)
Also: “Street Fighter II” will be starting in about April right? That’s about the time the Rival Schools comic will be starting isn’t it? Say bye-bye to Sakura, Karin and possibly R. Mika showing up in the SF comic.
Darkstalkers: The entire issue, while well done, felt like one of the backup stories. There doesn’t seem to be a coherent story building… But then again, Darkstalkers could just be a series of one-shots featuring a Darkstalker vs. random humans. At least before Donovan, Hsien-Ko, and B.B. Hood show up. Then the hunting begins…
Picked up SF # 11 today and was going to pick up DS # 1, but the shop I went to either had it sold out or didn’t have it at all. DS has been rather rare around here in Vancouver; between two shops I’ve seen only a single copy. Earlier in the week I stopped by a shop and it had one copy of DS left. I don’t buy from this shop because it charges higher prices on any book without a Canadian price printed on it. Anyway I’ll try to pick it up sometime this week.
SF # 11 was pretty good. It looks like a different artist helped out in this issue so some characters looked a little different but still pretty good, imo. I liked the Chun Li vs Cammy fight - good back and forth action and I like how Chun Li confidently disarmed Colonel Wolfman. I look forward to Delta Red co-operating with Chun Li in the forthcoming issues.
I thought it was okay … but yet i don’t see this issue taking me anywhere. The only thing that happened is Cammy and Chun-Li develope the truth of what happened (sorta). But other than that nothing else happened. I could have used some more to think about.
The back up story was okay … but not terribly exciting. I don’t think it was interesting enough to make a back up.
Dark Stalkers 1:
Frankly i was alittle dissappointed in it. I love the art and the only pages that i really enjoyed where the ones where the bum guy was telling the tales of his travel. Morrigan kinda borred me. No story has been set up really … no reason to buy #2. but i will. SF #1 had already established a story of what everything was about … find my masters murderer. This however has nothing but a “soon this will happen” kinda premise … i don’t think you should start a series with making people wait.
SF 11 - A really good issue, Chun-Li vs. Cammy was bad Ass! Finally we know about the Rose/Cammy deal! Maximum Doll coverage! I do however have one complaint. Chun-Li was way too skinny on the pages she was with Fei Long. I’m all up for different interpretations and what not but it just didn’t match up to how Chun-Li looked when she was fighting Cammy. Whoever drew Chun-Li on those pages needs to draw her thicker IMHO, (more cleavage, we are pervs! ) don’t take offense.
DS 1 was great. The part with Morrigan seducing that guy reminded me of one of Itoh Mami’s Manga stories, Morrigan tried to seduce Gallon/Talbain, only that didn’t work out! Anyway, loved Pyron’s backstory, and the use of the word ‘evolution’ might help us understand why in the blazes Capcom USA renamed Capcom Fighting Jam to Capcom Fighting Evolution since Pyron’s a Boss there. Hey, I love CFE but to call it evolution is a big misnomer…
While in SF #11 not too much happened to further story, I thought it was a nice pacing. I loved the CHunLi Cammy fight…it’s what it’s all about, “You murdering B*TCH!” Fairly well rounded and we’re set up to learn more about the dolls in the future. THe Backup art was great, one of my favorites so far. I do wish there had been more revelation to it, but it brings a confirmation to our pleas…I’m sure Ken wrote it from all our asking, and I’m happy for that.
DS #1 was a nice start. I almost see it more as an issue #0, but it had a pretty good lead into the series. Nice back story with Pyron and Darkstalkers in general, I’ve read some of the cannon and this was great. The dialogue was engaging, and even the focus on a human was interesting. Things are bound to heat up in issue 2!
Thanks Udon! I was pleased with this month’s issues.
Dude LeSean doing a Gallon [or is it Jonathan Talbain] back-up in that issue i believe. It’d definatly be worth getting #2 for that although i know what you mean about nothing really grabbing you in #1 and their certainly wasent a cliffhanger ending!
