[details=Spoiler]Smoldering Lake just absolutely has to be Ash Lake. It’s so similar in layout. It has the giant arch trees, which were ONLY seen in Ash Lake and the period of grey twilight. And it’s so close to the Demon Ruins geographically just like it was in Dark Souls.
I have a theory that maybe Ash Lake extended upwards from its original space in DS1, and that where it is now in DS3 might actually be where the Blighttown swamp used to be. The big open space and swampish-like flooring would make it make sense. Maybe it doesn’t poison you anymore because the blight has literally been burned out by the everlasting fires that consume the arch trees. [/details]
Also, DOUBLE POST but I noticed that… (Post Irithyll spoilers)
Spoiler
Aldritch’s name in Japanese is actually spelled the way they write out Eldritch, as in the horrors, in Japanese. I bet they changed it because they wanted it to be more vague, but that, plus the descriptions of items related to him(even the human dregs) make it super, SUPER obvious that Bloodborne is Dark Souls later on in time.
I mean I don’t deny it might be true the connection exists, but I don’t think we have enough to definitively say the two universes are connected. We don’t assume Demon’s Souls is in the same continuum just because it shares the concept of Humanity with Dark Souls, or the Moonlight Greatsword being in every game, ect ect.
That would be cool if it turns out to be true tho.
[details=Spoiler]Yea but Aldrich’s item description on his soul is too in the nose. "He looked to/had visions of a deep sea/lake/something to that effect, dont have the deacription on hand. Guy is an unexplainable abomination even by Dark Souls standards, he has visions of a deep sea, his Cov accepts dregs and he devours men/gods. Its a connection that is tough to deny imo. This isnt on the same level as a simple shout out, its in an item description, I feel that gives it more weight then a reference.
Also I think Road of Sacrifices/Ferron Keep are Darkroot Guarden/Basin and Blightown having crashed into eachother over the years of spread and land deformation. Ruins in both locations have an Oolacile feel to them as well, tho could be newer ruins. I dont think any of the swamp made it to the fire lake. Pretty sure thats a combo of Ash Lake, Izalith, and the Tomb of Giants/Catacombs.[/details]
So I watched one of the “things to know early” early and
FUCKING KNEW IT! I knew you could jump off of that tree, but I kept jumping too early because I didn’t expect to be able to go up it so far.
I mean I’m almost a hundred percent it’s intentional with just how convenient it is, but still the fact that I was actually able to discover one of those secret things is incredible for someone like me.
[details=Spoiler]“Soul of Aldrich,“
One of the twisted souls, steeped in strength.“
“Use to acquire many souls, or transpose to extract its true strength.“
“When Aldrich ruminated on the fading of the fire, it inspired visions of a coming age of the deep sea. “
He knew the path would be arduous, but he had no fear. He would devour the gods himself.
“Proof of a duty fulfilled by the Aldrich Faithful, who patiently await the Devourer of Gods’ return.“
“Dregs are the heaviest things within the human body, and will sink to the lowest depths imaginable
Yeah DeS and DkS share concepts, and in DkS3 even special weapons, but nothing is as so direct as “age of the deep sea”
Is it fact from that alone? Maybe not, but that is a direct reference. Lakes and Seas are a huge huge part of the lore in Bloodborne. They didn’t include this little bit in his soul description just because BB fans would recognize it. It’s too specific of a reference to ignore as just being a shared concept. I mean, this is the last game they’re making, yet they’re eluding to a coming age.
This does feel a little more circumstancial but I’ll say it anyway, someone on another board pointed out that just like Drangleic became Drang, and Londo became Londor, it’s entirely possible Irithyll became what is Pthumeru Ihyll in BB. Which is the source of many things in BB and of course Irithyll is the place where the only group of people who have even considered the deep sea are located
Edit: And again, his name IS Eldritch. True the word itself doesn’t automatically mean it’s related to Lovecraftian horror but it IS commonly used in that context, and moreso in Japanese as they would have their own word to use for the real meaning of eldritch. [/details]
Carthus Shotel is godlike for the Dex/Int/Luck build. It has a bleed effect, has a really amazing moveset, can be infused with Holow infusion, and can be buffed. Plus, it has the ability to go around shields which is amazing. Overall a really great PVP weapon. I tried out the Moonlight Shotel (Crescent Moon Sword) but for some reason it doesn’t get any Int scaling (although it gets an A in Dex). It also has damage split 5050 between physical and magic which is kind of a shame because it’s a really cool weapon otherwise.
And also, do poison/bleed resins benefit from luck scaling?
Respec’d into a luck build, it’s actually really fucking strong and I didn’t expect it to be. I haven’t gone hollow yet though so I’m not reaping the benefits fully but my right hand straight sword is doing 460 in human form! THAT’S CRAZY.
I’m almost positive that they don’t scale with luck. They just give you a flat +45 bleed/poison effect for a minute. However, with the added boost to those effects you get from luck, you can do really amazing damage (with bleed, unfortunately poison seems to suck again ). You should definitely switch over to a weapon with bleed + hollow infusion to reap the full benefits. I’ve been using the Carthus Shotel and it’s really amazing
Made it to Ador Londo and having a major nostalgia. Loving having to go through this place again. I looked out in the distance to see if Sen’s Fortress was still there
