DLC took me about four hours to complete, which was kind of expected. You could complete it in two hours if you rush through things and don’t explore at all. I dunno if the main focus is PvP stuff, as you have to beat a DLC boss in order to unlock the PvP arena. Cool thing about the arena is that it enforces fight club rules to a certain extent, meaning no Estus flasks in 1v1 and limited use in team battles. Ashen Estus can be used in all forms of PvP but are limited as well.
New Pyro spell seems like it’ll be pretty good for PvP. Cast time is not very long and it seems like it could be pretty good for zoning.
Haven’t tried the arena yet; I’ve been finishing up my pyro build with the Onyx Blade. The weapon art buff is kind of negligible in terms of added damage, but it looks pretty damn cool. With 40/40 int/faith, it has 529 AR I think. Seems Luke a pretty good weapon because of it’s range. I want to be able to use with weapon with hyper armor, I’d have to sacrifice int/faith to put points into Vitality.
Yeah I’ve only seen a few people use it, but the range is pretty nuts for a GS. I REALLY dig the Crow Quills, and I’ve heard the Crows Talons are pretty sweet too.
DLC boss might be my favorite boss ever from the Soulsborne series… but then again I’ve only played DS3 and Bloodborne so far.
My Onyx Blade build has come along nicely so far. I have enough Vitality to wear some heavier armor to get enough poise to hyper armor through non-heavy weapons. Build feels pretty versatile. Spells for zoning and Chaos Bed Vestiges for damage. Onyx Blade hits fairly hard at 520 AR and has great range, and to top it all off, you can use hyper armor to mix things up to trade blows. Further tweaks that could be made could be dropping some points from Attunement or Faith in favor of Vitality to get more defense and poise.
If you care about min/maxing at all the Onyx Blade only gains 1-2 points between the levels of 39-40 in INT/FTH, so going 39/39 saves you two SLs.
As a comparison, this is what I decided to build. I’m very greedy when it comes to my HP/STM so it could easily be knocked down to SL120, I just don’t care enough and want everything. https://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls3/104585
Holy shit so it isn’t just me that likes to make my build stats look nice? General rules - no odd numbers, multiples of 5 or 10 for my increased stats.
Correct. Besides it’s okay with a pyro build since int/faith also increases magic damage. The magic just isn’t for show; need it to be doing damage if it lands.
I have no problem getting summoned in the DLC right now at level 120. Don’t forget that passworded co-op has no level restriction, so you’ll have zero issues playing with a buddy.
