I will say this thoseā¦ it would be fucking hilarious if Vergil ended up like SSF4 Dudely.
The only way I can see that happening if his reliance on meter ends up being too strong and other characters surpass him based on that. Which I donāt really see happening considering how strong he looks even without stacked meters.
There were way too many things that were adding up to why Dudley wouldnāt be that great (game shifting towards zoning and Dudley having nothing for that, sub par normals, being able to get out of bad situations in the game in general).
Vergil is not going to have problems with zone, not going to have sub par normals and this game basically allows you to suffocate people in bad situations.
I will say too that it is harder to guess how good someone will be from a few random videos in SF4 than it would in Marvel 3. A lot of the tings that make a really good character in Marvel 3 is are general and basic things whereas their are much more little and matchup specific things in SF4 that are harder to recognize after only a few gameplay videos.
Vergil will be at worst a GOOD character. Pretty much having an instant mixup with assist in a tracking teleport gives him that. Then you combine the fact that he has ranged normals like Dante that appear to be fasterā¦ and a ridiculously busted level 1 hyper that will be harder to block than a Lebron James dunk.
He also has a steroid with Devil Trigger.
He will be a meter whore but I honestly canāt see how Vergil will be overrated or not good in Marvel 3ās world. They basically gave him a bunch of things that make other characters good into 1 package.
Highly doubt that will happen. Vergil like Dante, Wesker and Wolverine will be played by alot of people at tournaments and online.

Especially considering heās like a spin of Dante, Wesker and Wolvie all in one character. All characters that controlled the top tier in Vanilla. Unless lame out proves to completely shut down a character that plays like a combination of those 3 characters (AS IF) he should be good to go.
Haha, this. I was going to say Strider (ninja, black outfit, etc.) but a lot of people will stay away from him with that low health.
Sounds cheap enough to me. Iām wondering if Strider and Vergil will have any synergy at all since I see a lot of people want to put them on the same teamā¦Iām interested in what Vergil can do to be a team player other than eat up meter.
Im wondering the same but having a tracking dive kick for an assist sounds good for any team, and they both have DHC friendly supers so I dont see enough downside for it not to work.
The down side is not enough meter to go around ^ remember they are nerfing meter gain so you have to be wiser with your bar. Strider is going to be sick for a lot of the reasons vierg will be sick but I feel heāll have higher risk reward. I feel they want the match to flow is to 2 shot first character then with meter tod the second character and lame out the third x -factor level 3 is guna be scary so mixing up incoming 3rd char might be very risky a successful mix up block = dead character. with x factor air guard cancel bs.
People are gonna have to pick between Vergil and Strider because they are both meter hogs and having both would just ruin the otherās effectiveness. The main reason I love Vergil as anchor so much is because heāll have all the meter he needs to do whatever the hell I what and ravage sloppy moves.
I feel like with guys like Vergil with meter could give Jean Gray fits (Strider too) with their supers protecting them and generating offense.
Some people are going to try anyway to put them on the same team and take alot of Lās because of it Iām sure.
People used to say that Dorm was a meter hog also but he ended up being a great battery character also. Just because a character has a lot of meter options doesnāt mean they wonāt be a good battery/reset character also.
Why is strider a meterdump? Just because he has two level 3s and one of them is ouroboros?
think of it this way strider has the second lowest life and ouroboros is supposed to be an extremely powerful tool that set ups almost guaranteed damage in a way and forces the opponent in to the defensive. Why would you want some one so frail and who has such a powerful tool to build his own meter itās like putting phoenix on point as an extreme comparison it can work if the match up is really favorable but in general it isnāt worth the riskā¦ This isnāt the strider thread so Iāll stop now.
Virgil can probably work on point as well he seems to build his own bar fine in fact I might switch around between him and Dante on point depending on the match up both have solid assists and both are great characters so far from what Iāve seen. Your right jin Dorm can play battery he builds bar really well but his really crazy deadly stuff cost meter and I think Virgil will be the same meter dependent for that DAMAGE if you have some one else for that job and your using Virgil to fill the role point battery to set some one else up. I think Dante does it better but Virgil can get the job done no doubt and he might be better against certain characters than Dante since his a bit quicker on the sword draw but he doesnāt have half the zoning tools his brother has and I think Dante has to take less risks building that bar up then Virgil.
I know what your saying jin about him playing battery and I agree that he can play battery he can be great at it too just I donāt think itās optimal because he has the tools to be the guy that knocks them down and I think some other characters can set up better would you agree on that point? Virgil, Strider will work but you wont be able to maintain sword super mixups, dt transformations and sword super transition and have enough bar to ouroboros. So your giving up on a certain aspect of that character to give Strider the meter he needs to be SUPER scary in fact it would kinda be like playing point Wesker with a sword lol (note to self Wesker, Strider, Doom will be an awesome side team)
I donāt mean to constantly compare him to his brother as if that was the topic of discussion. Itās just my thought process since Dante is own my team and maybe some one is in the same position or plays the same team combo so my ramblings and theory fighter perspective could be useful to some one in the same situation. I think play what your most comfortable with and I donāt think Virgil should be pigeon hold to 2nd or 3rd if your boss with Virgil and boss with some one who brings the pain harder than he does but needs help setting that up then by all means heāll make a great point character too.
