He can only teleport on the ground to do the swords mixup. Every time swords comes out, people will be jumping. Characters with massive flight time can just wait it out. The rest will take a risk once in a while as they’re forced to touch down. If he’s hit by anything, the swords disappear. And high priority/long range air moves may be able to limit his teleport options as you’re coming down.
Nothing saying it’s total trash. But it’s not without its limitations.
or just H teleport and force them to guess in the air.
I also find it hilarious crown sword crumples if any of them hit. Take the chip and mixup with a possible crumple reset or rush his ass down for that hit before the first one fires off?
I’m unsure how he’s going to do the basic sword mixup in the air with H teleport and force left side or right side. I guess he can j.S to cross-up or do anything else to not? But swords will probably interfere with the ground bounce from j.S, or the j.S will whiff, meaning no continued combo.
If he’s forced to switch to crown then you’ve made him use another meter and changed the nature of the mixup. I don’t know what sword crown does when it connects in the air. Anyone know?
It will have a use. Setups after block strings involving assists will be the big one. And who knows what follow-up mixups there are if they manage to block that. I’m just saying, it’s not unlimited and there are potential counter-measures. It can be mostly disarmed if you manage to get in the air, forcing them to chase without the instant left/right, wait till you are forced to touch down, or spend another meter to change formation.
He goes just above their head in front of them. But if he can’t get behind the target quickly, then it’s just not a mixup. Listen to the sound of the teleport and hold back.
To further clarify to the uninitiated, he only tracks them in the air for one of the 3 versions. The other two versions are always on the ground.
Btw, does he have flight in DT? Thought it was just double-jump and air dash.
I agree that Vergil might not get much use out of his wall jump, it’s not like he’ll need it to get around what with his teleports and all. He just doesn’t seem like he’ll be able to do much with it unlike Strider’s wall cling. Even Felicia’s wall jump looks pretty sweet now that she has an air Delta Kick (Crispy’s Felicia on the stream the other night is tempting me to pick her up again in Ultimate).
Without any way to alter his trajectory in the air and lack of aerial specials outside of Round Trip I just can’t see too many uses for it.
Wall jump may enhance his DT mobility at least. But I still think people underestimate the usefulness of moving forward at middle height while maintaining the ability to call assists. And without the other air movement options outside of DT…
IMO X-23 has and still will have the game’s best wall jump. Shoots her forward across the screen faster than all the wall jumps I’ve seen. Especially since she can use a majority of her special moves and command normals in the air and will now be able to cancel her dp move into her talon attacks. Also allows her to call assists at near super jump height.
I don’t remember hearing about Vergil’s ability to fly in DT yet either. Just air dash and double jump.
Yeah, that’s the one. I just want to know what uses (if any) it has over the regular spiral mode or the sword storm (crown, whatever you want to call it) mode.
I think my main strategy with Vergil is going to be starting him off on point, building 2 meters, and DT -> DHC to Wesker and build meter, bringing him back in once Wesker dies.
I’m sorry if this has already been asked, but
Is it possible to hard tag into another character (say Doom or Dante) after his level 3, build up another bar and combo into another level 3?
Also, I remember reading somewhere that once you put the summoned swords around the opponent’s head, at hit from the swords will stagger - if this is true, can it lead to extended ground chains? (Like LMH - stagger - LMH etc.)
I can already see Vergil beasting with an assist like Molecular shield for the lockdown - setups.
