Was not aware they were confirmed as projectiles…
The day that Rhino Charge also counters Projectiles…lol tables will be flipped that day, if it ever comes.

Everyone except me
I just play who I like, and I tend to make that work very well
Can I get a source to make sure that his summoned swords are projectiles.
one thing ive also thought was interesting about him was the input for his teleport. most teles i see are :dp: or backward:dp:movements…he’s are :qcb: and i havnt seen that in many characters infact i think he’s the only one in marvel that has a hadoken tele…dont quote me on that >.>
and to yugo just watch the breakdown with seth.
Hey guys
New here, I posted something similar in the ghost rider thread, but if you want me to try out anything specific with vergil let me know. I live in London and next week there is eurogamer (with umvc3 amongst many other games) Reason I ask is because my team will be nova, vergil, ghost rider. And at eurogamer ill be playing with the later 2 (assuming they have the latest build)
So yeah, just met me know.
Just a couple things from me, both involving his Judgment Cut/Sparda Shuffle/Bubble Shuffle hyper.
1: Check to see if you can activate it on the ground
2: Find out what his THC hyper is (necessary if his Bubble hyper is air-only).
Aren’t THC hypers assist-dependent?
I’d like to know how easily you can combo from his assists (namely judgement cut and rapid slash), as in, can you do a basic mixup and confirm a BnB from Vergil assist?
Yeah it would be if his other two hypers weren’t power-ups, so imo maximum vergil is air and ground OK.
Vergil will not be like Dudley it is pretty easy to tell he will be among the best in this game. Why?
Teleport, Stinger, long range normals that appear to be faster than Dantes, a hyper (swords) that when combined with an assist and a teleport will be a mixup you can’t react to but flat out guess…
He probably has more busted up stuff, but this alone already makes him great.
Check the recent UMvC3 stage event recording. Neo_G does bubbles on the ground. In fact, he hyper canceled the start up frames of Judgment Cut to do it.
Thanks for offering to check some stuff out for us. These are some things I’m wondering, it’d be nice if you can touch on a few during your time with the game.
Hmm…probably more, i’ll update when I think some more about it.
I’ll try my best to get that info guys.
I reckon Round trip will be something like holding an attack button for X amount of time and letting go.
Also, the first post was so detailed I thought they were the actual commands? so it’d save me the trouble of finding out, guess not lol
I don’t know much about this character other than the obvious
From seeing him in the videos, my first impression was… holy shit, I’m finally fucking impressed!
Most bad-ass looking character since Marvel 3’s release and I am already putting him on my team. I am fucking hyped.
I’d prefer you find out if any of his move can be canceled with regular trick or trick up instead of trick down. That’s all I really want to know, or if Rising Sun can be canceled with jump. Finding out that one thing alone will open up a lot of combo possibilities. I’d want to see if Blistering Swords can be used in a combo, but that’s pretty hard to test without playing the character for a while.
How about, ‘considering all the things that are considered projectiles in this game, it’s severely unlikely they’d be anything else.’
The Explosion from Haggar’s Body slam counts as a freakin’ projectile!
Had a question for Vulcan, but indigo already asked it. Thanks
Based on what we’ve seen so far, who would have the best team synergy with Vergil? He’s really the only character I care about in this game, haha. And I want to know who works best with him to make him effective.
I’m considering Trish, Jill, Dr. Doom, Taskmaster, Firebrand, and Ghost Rider. I was hoping Firebrand would work well with him, but I’m not sure. Any advice on what assists/characters would have the best team synergy with him based on what we’ve seen? I’m not that adept at knowledge of team synergy, just know how to do a hell of a lot of combos.
Trish/Vergil can work. It’s going to be a very meter heavy team (Trish setting up Round Harvest for DHC into Vergil swords into maybe sword style switch. Max 3 meters for 1 mixup) I could only imagine it does passible chip damage but I doubt it seeing Round Harvest doesn’t chip too well as it is.
If anything, Vergil will work with the same characters Dante has work with him in the assist department. Probably even more due to having more options with 3 teleports and Judgement cut covered with an assist. Regardless, Vergil is going to be a very meter depended character from the overall look at it and will shine best when a team is best mad for him.
Yeah it’s funny but the twins have a similar basic skeleton, but the meat of their gameplay and where they shine differs. Dante is solid all around with good fundamental tools like an air dash, double jump, solid supers and some very great specials, like air trick and Hammer.
Vergil has that same solidness with his normals, but lacking basic things like air dash and double jump changes him a bit but he has his teleports to make up for it. He has alot more options with meter and when he DT’s he gains a double jump and an airdash making him more of a threat on a basic level and a speed boost as well. His supers are more then solid. They seem to be monstrously good in terms of opening people up, comboability, and damage. Vergil’s versatility is not in his specials, but in his supers which means he wants to do different things then his brother.
The biggest difference though is because Vergil relies on meter you can’t just throw him into a team. A team needs to be made around him, to support his whole gameplay. Being a meter hog means he needs teammates that can build meter quickly and don’t need meter to be effective while still having good assists to back Vergil up. Vergil is also going to want to be in the second slot usually so he can come in with meter and still have at least one assist to back him up and augment his mix-up game
This is a stark contrast to Dante who can fit in virtually any team in any role and see alot of success.
tl:dr The twins have a different metagame and stuff.
Pretty interesting. What characters out of the ones I mentioned would be best for building meter and not relying on Hypers. I am basing my team around Vergil, since he’ll be the main one to take out the opponent’s team. Firebrand seems like he doesn’t rely on Hypers, but I’m not sure how well he’ll build meter. Looking a little broken as well, and I don’t like broken characters. I can drop Trish if she’ll interfere with Vergil. What about Taskmaster and Doom, would they be sufficient assists and good at building meter for Vergil?
I hope Vergil has a beam assist so I can use a team of Wesker/ Jill/ Vergil.
Or even any decent assist. Seriously this character looks so boss… the only thing I hope is that he doesn’t have a stupid level 4 hyper because even if it would end games I feel that people would rather use his meter on the mystic swords…
To the guy above who wants to suggest things to try, see if Devil Trigger+Oroboros or whatever stack.
Edit: If you want to build meter use Morrigan assist. And I’m almost serious.
If the mystic sword thingy does shift momentum like I expect it too, using the free time to gain meter like that would probably be successful.
Task helps Vergil as an assist due to arrows. He also can hold is own as an anchor (since he’s still sitting at 1.1mil) and looks to overall still hurt and kill characters generally in 1 combo minus the tanks of the game. Doom gives Vergil a good assist no matter which one you go with (plasma beam being best IMO) but doom as a second slot or anchor in this game doesn’t work in my eyes. But I don’t play Doom so I can’t really comment on him and make it justified.
If anything Vergil is going to be looking like his best friends will be Dante, Trish (if you’re willing to waste meter), Zero, Ammy, Task, maybe Wesker, and maybe someone else. I’m only thinking off the top of my head. These characters will either help in opening up a character, building meter for vergil as a battery, or help him in adding more problems to go with his swords.
