Dark Slayer Style - The Vergil General Discussion Thread

^In the vids I’ve seen it looks like he can only teleport down so to follow up Rising Sun or High Time you might need to catch em with an assist like Jam Session/Hyper Grav/Hidden Missiles etc.

^I’m still holding out for the ability to air teleport after rising sun or high time. I know it wasn’t shown in any promotions but hey neither was Round Trip.

actually from what iv’e seen it causes ground bounce when outside of a combo but when used in one it does infact cause hard knockdown…imo

do any moves work like that? ie are you sure you weren’t seeing a combo where bounce was already used?

In the video Seth showcased vergil’s lvl 4 on Nemesis Vergil used 2 ground bounces in a combo. He used dp mid and starfall and both induced bounce

im pretty sure of what i saw…i have seen the ground bounce happen from that attack but whenever that happened it was the first hit, then when i see seth doing a combo(in which the ground bounce has already been used) such as LMHS+S j.MMH+starfall…it doesnt cause ground bounce but he doesnt roll out like he should if hit by a second ground bounce skill. which leads me to believe it causes ground bounce when outside of a combo but when used in one it causes hard knockdown or maybe that after the first ground bounce it causes hard knockdown

I think the issue here is that Starfall is his j.S. Thus, when used in an air series it’ll cause a hard knock down. If used in a combo not after a standing S, however it’ll ground bounce. Think of it like your standard tank character’s j.S i.e. Tron, Hulk, Nemesis, Sentinel. At least that’s how it should work if I’m understanding the situation correctly.

After taking a second look you’re right. Starfall did cause hard knock down, not bounce, in the combo

you know i just found out that starfall is his j.S not a special move…i feel dumb, this whole time i thought that his helm bringer was his j.S like dante…but i think it still has the properties that i described in some way

Yeah oddly enough his Helm Breaker is down C or something. Kind of a bizarre design choice.

Take a closer look, it doesn’t work like Dante’s.

gata say it’s kinda weird seeing falling star as a normal move…i guess that’s because of how dante’s killer bee was a special…oh well i love it either way…so what’s everyone’s level of hype for vergil? im about 9.5

Seeing as how my hype for this game died when my character got a nasty nerf, Vergil is the only thing that revived it. 8/10

My level of hype is 10/10. Originally said I’d never buy the game unless Vergil was in it. Bought it anyways for Wesker. Regretted it, now I won’t regret my decision to re-purchase it for $40. Also, Vergil’s my second favorite character of all time, and 2D fighting games are one of my favorite genres, so I’m hyped.

10 for the Dark Slayer. 20/10 for the Sparda brothers. Hype will not subside until Nov

You really think so? Combo wise I can see what you’re saying, but I feel like there’s so much potential in his different swords modes to do crazy stuff. Plus I want to know what the deal with being able to super cancel his teleports is.

Super long-range light attack >confirm launcher combos and an intensely braindead utility super do not exciting play make, imo.

I really hope I’m wrong, but it feels like even if he has all this cool advanced stuff, people will never bother to learn it because its plenty good to use the basics (ala Wolverine)
