As far as I’ve done it (mostly on mistake, because online I don’t always get the Trick Down) Rising Sun isn’t easy for people to punish on block (yet, anyway). I don’t have the guide, but the Trick’s, including Trick Down, aren’t safe. Stinger xx Trick hasn’t been safe for me… it’s probably better to Stinger xx Judgement Cut :l: if they’re blocking.

Can’t comment on your team, but people like DacidBro have shown on streams that Capt. + Vergil have pretty good synergy.

At least you’ve gotten the first part of it down, I figure most people have trouble on that. I suppose you’re just pressing :s: too late.

that’s what I thought too. But no matter how fast he just blocks the :s:. I dont know maybe it has something to do with hitstun deterioration. But seriously thought who would even use a combo like that in an actual game…I really only want it for the title.

How many times are you letting the Spiral Swords hit after you activate it? Maybe you’re letting it hit too many times before continuing the combo, causing the hitstun deterioration to kick in.

Hey guys, I was just wondering, who do you think Vergil’s worst matchups are(sorry if there’s another thread for this, didn’t see it)? I don’t use him, but with how [S]broken[/S] solid he looks and given his popularity, I figure it’d be a good idea to have at least one counterpick ready.

well in order to get the first part down which is a chore by itself I kind of have to let it hit a lot and that probably is the reason but still stinger into :s: is a string that cant be blocked if hit right?

Yeah, someone should get on a thread for that. I’d do so myself, but I’d only complete the first post with the information everyone brings since what I’d write may not be that accurate.

The opponent can block/fall out of any string if there is enough hitstun deterioration. Try to only let it hit about 3 times before continuing. When I did it, I only let it hit 3 times so didn’t have that problem.

Found an incredibly nasty reset with Vergil today but I have no way to record it. If anyone can record send me a friend request on XBL and I can show it off. Its a lot like wesker’s corner reset only it looks even better so far.

Ye definitely need more resets with Vergil. I think I’m using the Wesker reset too? Anyway I think this is the most reliable so far: after a combo ending in L Judgement Cut: s.L, neural jump, j.M, j.H + Assist (I use Doom beam, but Akuma, Strange, anything really should work), j.2H XX Trick Down. Catches forward tech, neutral tech, and throw tech mash, and has the nasty crossup if they’re blocking when they land. Of course this can be mixed with a high assist like Nova for the unblock (Grown Man unblockable?), j.2H XX Trick Up + low assist for another unblock, or j.2H XX Trick for the fake out.

Does anyone have any reliable meterless mixups off a hard knockdown? 10stars has something decent with Doom rocks, but any other assist/setup I find is fairly ineffective if the opponent just rolls forward :\

Yep that’s the one. I dont have those assists though, so I just do a jump loop or air throw. My jump loop is j.M, j.M, j.H, land, j.M, j.H, j.S, s.H>stinger>trick, s.H, s.S, sj.M, sj.M, sj.H, Helm breaker, High time, Dimension slash. With the reset this does over 1 mil…pretty ridiculous since this is assist-less and I’m sure you can extend both combos to add more damage to kill every character. Or you can just add another high time Dimension slash onto the end

Oh yeah and has anyone noticed how much damage Dimension Slash does on big characters? It does just short of 400k on Sentinel, Hulk, and Nemesis. Pretty damn strong for a lvl 1 hyper.

Kind of ironic when you think about it. It does very little damage on the small characters, like Rocket Racoon and even Zero. Think of it as a balanced hyper, does less damage on most lower health characters, and more damage on the characters with a lot of health.

ok I’ve had the game for a couple days now and am trying to level up my scrubby Vergil. One question; am I the only one who tries to bold cancel when doing a stinger?

It’s actually that you’re doing it to fast. Right after trick you have to let him land wait a split second and then sj. m. I was doing it to fast at first and the j.H would always whiff. Now I can land this combo 98% of the time.

Hello, contemplating learning Mr. V. Simple question: with no airdash, what exactly is Virgil looking for to get his offense started, assuming raw unprotected teleports are a bad idea? Assuming I have a doom beam (because I will), is it a combination of finding ways to connect a stinger and/or safely get a doom call? I guess another way to put what I’m asking: what sort of situation are we trying to create that let’s us start mixing up and attacking?
