No idea if it only works on bigger characters. I think he picked Hulk and Nemesis since they’re high-health characters, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the combo only worked on larger characters.

So after testing and seeing that guard break with project/throw on the same frame still worked I tried to do it with roundtrip. Turns out grab on the ground is disable during roundtrip, air throw still works so we may be able to guard break with roundtrip off air grab with the right set up.

my bad. just assumed since we’re like hours away from the release.

I hope after that day -1 combo vid isecelica put out doesn’t prompt a knee-jerk patch from Capcom again. That’s some pretty nasty stuff there that makes Vergil surpass his brother in the damage department. Perhaps not quite as versatile, but useful in different (very good) ways.

It likely will. :frowning: Still dunno if it only works on certain characters, but if you notice he started the combo with 2 bars. No way they’ll let a 2 bar TOD stay in the game. lol Yeah you use 4 meters in the process, but still…

Yeah if you start with 2 bars, it’s a 2-meter combo, lol. I suppose you’re right. I wouldn’t mind if they nerfed the damage of it a wee bit… I just wanna press all those buttons!! >.<

Why does Lunar Phase keep getting a ground bounce? Or did I miss something lol.

It looks like swords reset the ground bounce. It’s also demonstrated in Vergil’s Mission 10

It cause a ground bounce and then a hard knockdown. Just like Thor’s M Mighty Smash…oh you’ve never seen Thor’s moves…no surprise there.

If that’s the case, if Capcom decided to patch it, they should just take away that factor. I am not saying I am in favor of a patch, but this would be an effective nerf IMO.

Are you kidding me LOL? Might be a scrub question, but it seems the swords ignore hitstun decay right? Damn that’s crazy. Tbh, im not sure if that’s gonna be kept in. I mean a lot of characters got 4 bar kill combos but he can use whichever amount he wants and/or is neccesary to kill as long as youre trapped there.

Oh and Im sure everyone will complain about the length <3. Isedelica the trend setta…

Now because of this capcom will release a huge nerf on vergil. Not that i think its broken since it takes a lot of execution and only works on big characters, but im not seeing a way to “fix” without nerfing swords or something.

Its not ignoring HSD. It is just the hits are hitting him so quick and putting hulk/nemesis into specific states to where they cant pop out.

Vergil combos are so fucking sexy. I love how you can use Spiral Swords to continue a combo after a self-OTG, and how you can use Blistering Swords to continue after Dimension Slash.

Guys, having problems with mission 8. I can’t seem to get the timing for Helm Breaker, High Time X factor. Mostly have problems linking j. m after it, so it probably has to do with the timing for the x factor. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you regular jumping… or super jumping? :tup:

Oh and also, you should X-Factor on the ground, not in the air during High Time. Just thought about it, you could be trying to X-Factor in the air and catch him with j.:m:, yeah?

So I have been messing around with what is safe/unsafe by recording a dummy as vergil and attempting to punish with strider (who as far as I can tell is the fastest character in the game by far). Yeah most of his stuff is unsafe, though you can make it hard to punish with a canceled judgement cut, though depending on if and when they pushblock you, you may still be unsafe. However, for the life of me I cannot punish his crouching heavy. It easily feel plus on block, at worst maybe -1?

Edit: Just tried to punish it with ryu’s shinku, couldn’t do it. Even if vergil did L,M,H and I pushed the light far enough away so M would miss crouching heavy wouldn’t come out and I couldn’t punish. This seems like the go to move for making blockstrings safe. Now just need to learn a quick hit confirm off of L and M. Honestly that isn’t too hard if you just stagger them a bit.

His crouching heavy is -2 on block I think, one of his hardest to punish normals. The rest of them should be pretty easy to punish though. Especially standing heavy and stinger. His safest options on block are Round Trip, Judgment Cut, and canceling into Hypers. (An occasional Rising Sun to teleport can prove useful sometimes.) Trick Down helps a lot too.
