Hmm ok, yeah I started testing further and it did seem to be negative on block, at least it’s hard to punish.
How’s his frame data in DT? Someone with a guide should chime in.

wow that is nuts, though I think trish’s voltage only won cause it actually hit him.
uhh ok so been messin around with him in trainign mode… I never played dante ever but I kinda like this character, i’m gettin some good day 1 combos with him… not as good as those combo videos in the vergil thread but def good ones that aren’t abc combos.
but something is very strange with the timing of the down foward H OTG into his swords super… you can’t cancel the down foward H into the super and you can’t wait too long or they pop out… it’s like there’s a 1 frame window in order to do it. anyone else having trouble with this?
So that’s what I was missing! Thanks a lot! I’m now trying to do mission 9…
it’s pretty easy after some practicing. i usually do the hyper immediately after i trick down ( like soon as he flash blue ) for some reason vergil won’t trick down to the ground and he’ll just do the hyper. it’s been 100% consistent for me.
Anyone else notice something weird with the High Time xx Dimension Slash ender?
I was having a really tough time having Dimension Slash come out, to the point where I started to wonder if I was missing something important about the character. When I started trying +:h: instead of :l:+:m:, my success rate literally went from 0% to 100%, with no change in timing. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I know it wasnt my execution in this case.
Yeah, I had the same problem yesterday but stumbled upon this and had no more problems.
After watching the new combos from isedelica, it really looks like Vergil became a god in -1 day. Not even Wesker could do that.
That’s the Spiral Swords one right? Uhm… I’m trying to figure out how to help you… I usually go with a rhythm that gradually gets faster. yeah, that doesn’t help LOL.
First you have to make sure the Stingers (lol…) HIT Dorm. That’s easy when you wanna do Stinger xx Spiral Swords. But after that you can actually CANCEL Stinger’s animation with the change to Blistering Swords & you also cancel stinger’s animation when firing the swords off manually. So make sure your Stingers are hitting first before you do anything else.
Second, try not to rapid fire out the swords, it makes it easier to remember that after the swords comes Stinger. You can actually launch them pretty slow & still combo. So get off the six, then stinger right after the last one. From there it’s just making sure you don’t hit too many :s::h::s:'s LOL
Third, ignore the urge to do a full magic series in the air, just do :h: xx Helm Breaker. During Helm Breaker, as Vergil goes down & the second you can see the ground, call out Dante & then don’t even wait for him to start up Crystal. When Vergil lands, do Dimension Slash & if you timed Dante correctly, the bubbles will catch Dorm ala Crystal’s OTG.
Idk if that’s going to help… sorry
It seems impossible to hit it with :l: doesn’t it? Actually, maybe it is… sorta. There is a way, although the benefit is beyond me. You can High Time xx Trick Down xx Dimension Slash with :l:
…
Benefit? maybe you like those buttons instead?
EDIT: As pointed to down below, :h: just creates that instant Trick Down xx Hyper. I never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense.
Ha its funny, I do all my hypers with :l: unless I absolutely have to (Taskmaster, etc). Its not much to remember to do
:h:
Also, I am thrilled that Vergil will have an execution and gameplay depth to him. I always lose the will to continuously develop tech for characters that tend to be fairly straightforward (Wesker, but his resets at least saved that).
Between different ways of keeping normals safe (which I dont think will be a big deal considering we’ve already learned ways around it at day 0), and some of the crazy high execution stuff he appears to have, I’ll be occupied in the lab until NEC. =D
I got it now, for some reason just like the person after your post said that you need to use M + H instead of L+M. I started doing that and it comes out everytime… that is very odd. It’s gotta be a bug.
Its simple. In order to hyper he needs to start trick down out of high time. once the trick down has started, you can cancel it into super. It’s very difficult to execute however if you include :h: in your hyper combo, it starts the trick down + Hyper at the same time, thus giving you a perfectly timed tele-super.
Well I’m progressing a lot more in mission 9. There is somewhat of a rhythm, just having problems with the Blistering Sword xx Stinger. Thanks a lot!
I never thought I’d have problems with it, but I’m having consistency issues with Rising Sun xx Air Trick sj. cancel into j.. The problem is that if I do s.j, I can’t seem to always connect with j.
after it. Anyone with any tips on making it consistent?
Oh my god Vergil is so fucking sexy, 3/4ths screen 50/50 mixups with Round Harvest, toss it out and Trick behind them after blockstun is over( but before it gets back to you ), round harvest will still track back around to you through the character again for a practically guaranteed crossup and you can combo after it, unless i’m missing something it seems so derp tier
The second you can move after you Trick Down, you should be super jumping. One thing you can do is add an sj.:l: before the sj., I found that easier. It’s all going to come from a little practice.
The H activates teleport and all his ports are cancellable to super…that’s why success goes from 0 to 100
Vergil has a basic Air Loop similar to Wesker… its BBC. I have gotten up to 3 reps. It then puts them into another great mixup situation for Vergil.
I’m loving this character. Much more execution based than he first appeared. The timing on the Rising Sun > Trick > s.JM is very tricky. Took quite a few hours of practice, and only have it around 50-60 percent of the team. I’m on pad so super jumps tend to be harder for me.
Proud that I finished all of his missions though. Mission 10 is actually easier than 9, you just need to be fast at cancelling those stringers at 9. I’m just glad the characters combos aren’t Wesker easy, which is what I was used to. Maybe this will stop a lot of people from playing. Namely the 15 year old kids with wet dreams…
