Dark Slayer Style - The Vergil General Discussion Thread

it builds just over 1 bar

I guess no one thinks of combos the same way I do. I define it as 1 bar, even if takes two, if it pays for one of the 2 bars during the combo. I guess what you guys are saying makes sense. But the combos only **requires **1 bar to do from the start. Then again, combos that require no meter and build 1 and use it up would be ā€œmeterlessā€ under my definition.

I feel like Vergil’s damage output is pretty damn good. If you guys disagree, then why all the claims about ā€œtop tierā€, best character in the game. I know damage output is only one factor to making a strong character. But look at vanilla Wolverine, Phoenix, and Wesker… massive damage output. Vergil doesn’t have that. I’m beginning to think Vergil will be a great character, but with medium damage, and death in one combo by some members of the cast (Looking at Ryu and Wesker). Will he really be the cheapest character in the entire game? (Top tier, yes, but best character period, no.)

The bigger thing than the less damage is how much less meter a combo builds now. If you did nice damage in one combo that’s cool but you most likely didn’t come too close to building 2 meters and probably struggled to get 1.25 with a standard damaging combo.

Some characters like Akuma got lowered health but Akuma doesn’t really need health any way. He just needs meter. Zero even got a slight health buff and it actually does account for a slight bit now that meters build less also.

I understand the meter building nerf across the board. But Vergil still builds 1 meter during the third isadelica combo. And wouldn’t less meter building hurt Vergil since he’s so reliant on it. Not sure what you’re getting at exactly. If you could clear it up, that’d be great. I just think less meter would lower Vergil’s tier if anything like Phoenix.

Wau!, those are some sweat combos, i see a lot off potential for styling combos with all those tolls.

But on the other side…, hate to bring it up again but a lot of those combos, as cool as they are, waste up to 3 meter only to give 600-700k damage in return…, that f**** damage scaling.

Also, is the video yours?

Yes. And I know, but that’s Ultimate marvel for you. Not disappointed by it.

Well it would except for the fact that resets are the new way to build meter. You just have to have a character that’s strong at putting people in nasty situations where they basically have to get hit again after the first time you hit them and a character like Vergil could easily become that type of character IMO.

In siirmiike’s vid I’m certain I saw Vergil taunt and gain like HALF a meter at the end of the She-Hulk combo. Someone please verify this before I get too hype. If this is true it also confirms that his taunt builds meter and is cancelable into DT which would explain the last teaser combo on Taskmaster and how he built that last smidge of meter necessary for his lvl 3

Shhh can’t have you investigating my secret Level 6 Hyper techniques ;]

Why would they give Vergil a taunt that builds meter when he has Spiral Swords and can cancel to Devil Trigger. If this character is cheap enough, I’m with Deviljin’s original opinion. That it’s kind of boring and I’ll do anything to make him more interesting. If he dominates enough, I hope he gets a patched nerf in a few weeks. Either way, I’ll crush all of the other scrub Vergils.

I’m convinced Wong is just calling every character the best to fuck with everyone. I know I would if people looked to me for what they should think when they could make their own opinions.

I wouldn’t say vergil is OP he has way too many weaknesses. of course hes good with assists like most characters but hes normals recovery way too long and his teleports are very slow in comparison with the other casts.

His lack of airdash doesn’t help him much either.

But I can tell you hes an absolute beast in Devil Trigger mode.

But others besides Justin have said the same thing. It hasn’t been just him.

Maybe because in DMC3 his taunts also gave him meter? Its just a reference for the fans, nobody is really going to use a taunt in mid battle.

you can with spiral swords juggling reducing the cost of it that and it’s stylish.

You can taunt during sword super for style and decrease meter cost AND it’s apparently cancelable into hypers so yeah…people will do this mid game

Where are you guys seeing that his Taunt gives him half a meter? I don’t see it & I also taunted in training mode a ton, no meter gained at all though. Dang, that would be something though… since you don’t build meter in Spiral Swords while they are out, making his Taunt the only way to do it would be both an homage to those crazy DMC3 vids… & pretty troll status (uncomparable to the amount of Megaman trolling that is in the game, however)

Did you try taunting after/during a combo ala DMC 3?

Nope, I’m not boss enough to do that

EDIT: 'Twas bothering me, booted it up… Spiral Swords… Taunt while opponent was being combo’d, still no meter gained
