The guide suggest that teleporting or canceling into judgement cut/roundtrip is his best options for a blockstring.
His air normals are usually positive, and judgement cut/ round trip/helm breaker are his safe moves.
Helm breaker being safe is kind of scary. I heard he can cancel that into teleport too. If Helm Breaker is plus on block, you might be able to cancel it into Trick, and Helm Breaker again, or cancel it into Trick Down and low attack for a basic mixup. Probably too slow, and they’ll be able to react.
Unfortunately, Helm Breaker doesn’t cancel into Trick Down. It can only cancel into Trick after Vergil gets to the ground. Also… Helm Breaker isn’t overhead :sad:, they can block it low & if they expect a Trick, they can mash jabs.

Vergil is probably going to be that character where people need a back pocket Vergil. I dont know one person who isnt using this guy yet lol. Many mirror matches to come.
I hate mirror matches, so I’ll be pretty sad about that. But hey, I’ll just train harder, put the time in, and OHKO all of the other scrub Vergils with style, haha.

On a side note, did anyone see the 744K meterless, one assist combo for Wesker? What the hell is Capcom’s idea of balance, to make a top tier character even better than they already were. Maybe everyone in the game is top tier now,and Vergil will be balanced, haha.
From what i saw it used 2 meter. One from the swords and two from maximum bubbles. But still that is some stylish stuff.
You really think he’s that good? I think you’re overrating the character a lot if think everyone needs a back pocket Vergil. He hasn’t even shown anything yet to suggest he’s better than Dante. In fact, I’d say Dante’s still the far better character. Trust me, there are a lot of people who aren’t going to want to drop their mains. He’s pretty good, but now that good. The character doesn’t have the tools to run the metagame like you’re suggesting he will.
But I can’t wait to try this Zero/Vergil/Akuma team. It’s gonna be sick.

I didnt say he’s overrated, I said that I think you’re overrating him. You’re overrating him by pretty much declaring his dominance and saying things like people will need to have a Vergil of there own. None of the characters tools even suggests he will be that dominant.
Considering multiple top players have claimed he is the best new character and some the best character in the game I dont think im overrating him at all.

It’s pretty obvious Vergil is going to be within in the top tier of the game. He has all of the tools for it including being another auto pilot kill people down character in XF3 like Wesker and Felicia. Could potentially be better at it than both of them even.
Plus it’s not just been J.Wong that’s been saying it, Japanese have been saying, multiple people backing this. That’s when you know things are going the right way for a character.
It builds one meter in the combo, effectively nullifying the use of Spiral Swords. Dimension Slash only takes one meter. So if you start the combo with one meter, it’s 719K. That’s how I see combos anyways, even if they use two. You only need one.
Isn’t exactly related to Vergil, but I thought you all might find this amusing. This is essentially capcom’s idea of balance:

Damage scaling on assists, and combos scale more, resulting on lower damage. Counter: But we’ll lower 3/4 of the casts health, so you take away just as much health anyways, with the “less damage” combos.
The game is basically looking the same as it was before. Sick, creative combos. Massive damage. Cheapness everywhere, and I love it.
That combo is cool as s****, cant wait to see more. The sad part is that 720k is not that much, since he used 2 hypers, even more now that chars like wesker can make 760K in combo with NO MEETER, and ryu can make an 820K with just one.
This and his unsafe normals is why i think he wont be used that much in professional tournaments, witch is a shame.
You want self sustaining combos. Plus for 2 bars, that’s weak damage.
Vergil will be on a TON of tournament teams. A lot of people have already admitted to loving Vergil already.
The Vergil board needs to get over the whole “unsafe normal” schtick because we have already established there are plenty of ways to keep Vergil safe.
I think we have to ingrain it into our minds that we either need Assists to cover our normals (a given for most characters)… or we need to cancel them into things like Round Trip, Judgement Cut, etc. The combos I recreated from the Isedelica video don’t do that much damage, but we’re all aware that if there’s anything Vergil will be silly good at, it’s resets.
Other than the High Time xx Trick Down, (dash) Throw stuff that’s been seen… if you do c.:h: xx Stinger xx Trick :l: for the wall bounce followup, I tried doing things like c.:h: xx Trick :l: or , add an assist & it might prove useful?
