Nsidor is #1 in the game; he is also the most difficult character to play in the game.
So it’s pretty natural to feel as though he isn’t very good since he doesn’t just hold your hand to easy wins like a vast majority of other games’ top tiers.
Vritra is only top 3 because he has a somewhat easy infinite and because his pressure is okay too, but other than that he lacks in the same areas that Nsidor does and doesn’t do as much damage and doesn’t have an “anywhere” infinite.
DARK AWAKE aka CHAOS BREAKER, on SALE on Jap PSN NOW!! (ReadTheFirstPost)GARAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I am just waiting for my codes to be sent to me from play-asia, thanks for the info 4r5 very informative with the clashing bits. I cant wait to get my hands on this game and see how it plays.
also how do game shares work? i am kinda newb to my ps3 as i use my 360 mainly for online play.
yes
Honestly, though, this game needs to branch out. Maybe get disenfranchised GG players on this shit or something. Not good news about the online. Even though I haven’t even played online yet or even own this yet. However, if melty blood can sorta get around that then this game can. It’s really fun and not too execution heavy to shy away most fg players. Also, it seems like it has the depth there to hold people over for a while. Its a good game, just put down the SFIV once in a while and try it.
grokslam: if I recall correctly you have to log into their PSN account and download the game onto it.
Okay, you probably noticed that on your PS3, you can make multiple Users who can have their own save data/wallpapers/etc., kinda like Xbox player accounts. Well, each of those can be linked to a different PSN account. Once a PSN account has been linked to a user account on your system, all the users on the system can play games they’ve bought.
So if you want to game share with a friend, have them make a new user account on their PS3 (call it “grokslam’s JPN” or something easy to remember like that), then give them your JPN PSN account e-mail & password. They log into your PSN, then they’ll go into the Download History (it’s one of the icons near the top of the Playstation Store) and download Dark Awake. Their PS3 should automatically “activate” the system for the account when this happens (and if it doesn’t, you can do it through the PSN Account menu). At this point it should be safe for them to log back into their normal user/PSN account (the download will keep going), and once the download and install are finished they can play the game as much as they like.
The catches: you can only do this on up to 5 (some people say 3, it’s not clear if this is universal) systems per PSN account, and if they delete the user from their system they can’t play the games anymore. This doesn’t mean they need to be able to log into your PSN account to play it; once they’ve downloaded and activated you can change the PSN password and it’ll still work fine. Of course, the safest approach is to just make a new PSN account every time you want to gameshare something, Sony doesn’t really give a shit as long as they get their money.
(Oh, and before anyone asks, my gameshares for Dark Awake are used up. Sorry!)
It is great the game is out. Now I have to see when I can get some PSN cards from Japan.
I mean outside of the infinite he doesn’t really seem to have a good poke game going on. It probably is due to inexperience so far, as this is just my initial impression of the game though. But I just felt like he would probably get rushed down hard and also out turtled. When I played him I was just fishing with 2C and building meter so I could combo into the C lunge stab into talisman super into infinite lol. Of course all it takes is that one hit though so that alone makes him scary but as long as you play respectful to his options, what can he do to someone like Nagar?
Once again though, sorry for sounding like a scrub if that’s the case. I’m just trying to see whats so good about him outside of an infinite.
He is just a very, very peculiar character as far as spacing and footsies go, so he takes some getting used to.
Some characters have some very strange ground games in CB.
Nsidor, while applying pressure or pushing his opponent out, has a few options that I have listed previously:
6A - Good for close range pressure and annoyance. Really hard to get anything out fast enough to clash with it and even harder to get anything out fast enough to counter-hit.
2B -> C Fireball - really good for pushing your opponent out, and the active hitting frames on Fireball let you get yourself into a better ground position.
6D -> A Cyclone Lance - travels far and is pretty safe from what I have seen. This is one of his better distance pokes.
And then for avoiding fireballs, you can just j.C, or clash with 6B.
If you can actually get his footsies down, he can just poke, poke, poke, and bait the opponent into doing something they shouldn’t do against him (jump when he has meter, reversal super, try to counterpoke with far-reaching, slowstarting normals) and loop them to death.
Once you can utilize this, your opponent will be scared to even play footsies with you and therefore improving his ground game sort of by default.
And don’t worry about it, everyone is pretty much a scrub at this game, I have just been looking up vids and translating the wiki for a few months now lol.
It depends on the game, bigger releases will be limited to 3 and have a 24-hour lockout between downloads, but Chaos Breaker should be at 5. I shared the game with 3 other people here and nobody’s told me about any problems.
I hate to be that guy, but how do you do the Vritra inf? I keep going all the way to the other side of the screen when I push off of the body.
after the 66D, hold down. or was it downback?
Yeah just hold down / or down back. I think it may even work with down forward. As long as there’s a down in there. So it’s like 669D2 x infinity. Sometimes you have to stop and let them drop slightly if they get too high or you’ll just kick off the wall.
Also found a loop with Bernhardt in the corner. It’s:
j.B 2B 214A 360 super (flame aura thing) let that hit 4-5 times, j.B 2B 214A 360 super so and and so on. You can finish the last loop with 2B 236B instead of the super. Does almost 100% but it does cost meter. Still pretty cool though.
Edit: actually looks like you can launch them higher by jumping at them with the flame aura and then you can hit a couple of j.B’s before you have to land and do 2B into the flame.
Is it possible to select anything besides 3 characters and an item?
I’ve seen it in the videos, but I can’t figure out how to do it here.
The options menu only gives us Elimination mode (forces 3char/1item) and Singles mode(force 1char/3items). We don’t seem to be able to set Free Select, like on the arcade machines. :<
Actually after playing arcade vs (first option at the main menu) for a bit you unlock items or something (not sure what’s going on here) but AFTER you pick your characters when you go to the order select you can hit left and right over the characters portraits and pick certain items. I’m not sure how it determines which ones are available or whatever but I was able to do 1 Character and 3 items / 2 characters 2 items this way.
edit: How do I do online vs? I think I’ve got a room open but I’m still uncertain. Maybe a guide for this one the first page would be good? I doubt many people know how to navigate the menus.
The available items you get for beating a player are based on the opposing player’s item, and the equipment items of their characters. You can go 1/3 or 2/2 in this way, but it is certainly not consistent. Iirc, you lose all your items if you lose your win streak. Sad news for anyone planing to run a non-standard team.
Ghostal, tell me what you can / the JP know about Fina, despite her tiering. I’ve managed to get her 2C to combo out of a nicely timed j.C in the corner; not sure if you can get it fullscreen. Does her 214A/B/C serve any purpose, what should she be meating, is there an easier way to do 6A -> Holy Tempest or w/e super, etc.
So finals are up. Might upload more latter.
YouTube - ?XanaduGames’s Channel?
edit: don’t expect anything spectacular
Hmm what do you guys think is required for this game to get a release on US/EU PSN? High Sales, etc.?
Recom is so small, I’ve threw out any thoughts of a domestic release. I’m just happy it got released at all, and it being so easy to get on top of that. But a no-name like Recom randomly buying up the rights and porting it is so random. Did TRF arcade back them up with some capital? Are there bigger plans in store?
But yeah, nothing more’s going to happen unless people buy the game. Maybe send some emails, let them know the potential audience for this game, outside of Japan.
Maybe also harass Aksys or another similar North American niche publisher. Most of them have message boards with threads specifically for suggesting games for them to localize and bring over.
