<b>FAQ and HOW GET</b><br>

<div class=“UserSpoiler”>

<div class=“SpoilerText” style=“display: none;”><u>What is Chaos Breaker?</u><br>
Chaos Breaker is awesome.<br>
<br>
<u>What is Dark Awake?</u><br>
Dark Awake is Chaos Breaker.<br>
<br>
<u>Wow, what do I need and how can I get it?!</u><br>
It’s as simple as buying a game from an online retailer, all you need is a PS3, any will do, and an internet connection.<br>
<br>
Dark Awake is a PSN game, only available off the Japanese PSN store. Getting to the Japanese PSN store is easy. As easy as getting to the US PSN store. Just make another PSN account, but instead pick Japan as your region of residence. Here’s a youtube video that I used to help me through: . Some extra notes, the video says to make up an email address, but I would suggest to use a real email address (I used a different one from my US account. I didn’t check to see if PSN allows two accounts to an email.) that way you can get notifications about your account, like points added, or purchases and password changes. That can (maybe?) be useful if you decide to engage in account sharing.<br>
<br>
Making an account, that’s the easy part. As for the next step, I’ve only been a PS3 owner for about 5 days, but as I understand it, to make purchases off the Japanese PSN store, you either need a Japanese credit card OR get some sort of Japanese PSN point card. I had a friend in Asia buy me a point card and email me the code. And then I just waited for Dark Awake to apear on the store, brought it, and downloaded it. And that was my experience getting Dark Awake. Easiest import I’ve ever done.<br>
<br>
I hear that people without the asian-connection buy cards off import stores, like play-asia. Play-asia in particular, I hear people say that they provide the option of forgoing shipping and they’ll email you the codes instead. If someone wants to write a more general guide, or expound further, go for it. I’ll put it in this post.<br>
<br>
<u>Moon runes scare me, what’s this gamesharing I hear people talking about?</u><br>
The other way of getting the game is to get it from someone who already has it. People call it gamesharing. I’m still new to this PSN thing, so I’ve only done this with friends I’ve known for years and trust. But as far as I can tell, it’s more like account sharing. You give them your account info, they log on on their PS3 and download your remaining shares (aka, backup downloads).</div></div>

Look up this channel to see if you can find those characters, this channel has the best 3 players of this game (by an enormous margin) switching off playing each other. If not, just go <a href=“http://www.nicovideo.jp/search/カオスブレイカー?sort=n&order=d” rel=“nofollow” class=“bbcode_url”>here</a> and scan the video stills for one of those 4 characters. All but Dorgan are pretty common.<br>

<u>Where is VS mode?</u><br>
This is the barest port I’ve ever seen. There is no VS mode, you’ll have to do it the old fashion way and play 2p in Arcade mode. But even though this port has much to be desired, the game is still awesome. I suggest you construct a cabinet around your PS3 for maximum arcade authenticity.<br>

<u>How to select original Ramda and Sandra sprite:</u><br>
Hold the select button while picking Ramda or Sandra.<br>

<u>Where are the graphic filters? / Where is widescreen? / How do I get rid of the side bezels? / Was this a Super Nintendo game? / Why do the graphics look so ass? / The pixels? Why the pixels?! / Is this Killer Instinct?</u><br>
<br>
The game is originally an arcade game, from 2004. It ran on Taito’s Type X (That’s X, not X2) hardware. The hardware has a max output of 640x480, iirc. So widescreen was never even an option during the game’s development. Since the side bezels still show up on non widescreen displays, the game’s native resolution was probably that weird ratio that a lot of old arcade games ran in.<br>

Go to the 2nd to last option at the main menu. This is the Game Option menu.<br>
Once you are in here, go to the 3rd option down (the middle one), click it.<br>

Some of us have been video scrubs for the first 6 years of this game’s life, many of us can’t read Japanese, and all of us have only just recently been able to get our hands on this game. We’re about just as noob as you. Talk about it in this thread!

shrug

Thread title needs the signature battle cry ;3
Any chance this game might get an Eng release for US and EU?

BTW I’ve watched some gameplay vids and I find the Troll to be the character whose gameplay interests me the most, but that’s mainly due to his high damage output. What other characters can do big damage in combos, etc.? Also are there grappler type characters in the game?

Probably be interested in cursehead, yo has a 360, a 720, and a super that straight gives him autoarmor. also if you pick his weap item he does 44% (?) more damage

The characters who do heavy damage without relying much on combos/supers and such would be(in order from highest to lowest output):

Troll
Cursehead
Dorgan
Ramda

“No mommm, DARK AWAKE.”

thanks for the info guys, I’ll look up YT vids of those characters.
Speaking of which, are there any combo vids for this game?

Not exactly your magnum opus, DF, but I dig it.

Gonna hit this thread up with a taste of the info I have been hoarding for the past few days in a couple of hours, just gotta run out and get some real life shit done.
Also, support Xanbats, they’re gonna be (hopefully) streaming Chaos Breaker later on in the day, and in the meantime it’s just SSF4. Give respect to a ranbat series showing real love to this game:
Xanadu Games: SSF4 Live! on Justin.tv

Also, gonna try and get on the wiki so I can add info when 4r5 isn’t around.

I’m going to try to record all of the tournament. Hopefully we can stream the finals, or more.

Done

Don’t forget to copy ghostal’s post about the graphics options and how to choose the original sprites.

my team as of wed:

ramda
fina
troll
(havent looked too deeply in the items so i just select one non-sequencially).

fun game. netcode isnt too hot though.

Yeah netcode is one of the biggest complaints I have about this game, played someone from San Diego (I’m in San Jose) and it was horrid
Though I do play a friend from Salinas and it is buttery smooth, at least.

Also, a good series of items for that team would be anything from Hellfire Sword (boosts Ramda’s attack alot, also gives both a physical and magic attack boost to all characters so it benefits both Feena and Troll as well), to Mana Potion since 2/3rds of your team are pretty meter-reliant, to Shining Staff, which benefits Feena the most, but also allows Ramda and Troll to mount an easy offense with the item’s SA being a Talisman-esque shield.

lol at the gold trophy, gonna start working on it right now

Figured out Nsidor’s horse loop. Depending on how you start it you have to do different things but basically it’s this:

2C 236D 4A 214D D 4A (214D 4A) x infinity

The trick is you have to make sure you pass under them before 4Aing again. If they get too far out, you can reset the positioning with another horse dash D and then start the loop again. Most I’ve gotten is 13 reps but it’s a lot of fun to do. He might have some other starters for it too. I’m not sure how to get it going in the corner yet since the horse dash stops when it hits the wall.

On air hit you can do

2D 236D (D 4A) x infinity.

Fun game though.

all you dudes posting about it, but no one is online playing it

It’s all explained in the link to the 50 Video combo notations, but actually an extremely easier version of the “anywhere” infinite is to add in an A Intercept (623A) after you to Back Attack -> Turn. So you are looping 4A/B/C(doesn’t matter which button), 214D, and 623A. I can hit full reps off of that about 80% of the time.
There are other ways to do it like you posted but this does the most damage and is the easiest to repeat.
I can already do all the 2C launch and A Charge Lance launch infinites, the hardest one (and by far the most practical to actually land) is the Mana Counter infinite. That shit is CRAZY hard.

Outside of that one particular loop setup you can go nuts and just freestyle how you do the infinites though, you just have to know the spacing for everything that can perpetuate the loop.

I will absolutely not play this online unless the person is an hour’s drive or closer to me or has godly up/download speeds, I play characters that are totally reliant on difficult loops and situational bs, so I get raped online in any laggy matches when I have to rely on holding upforward and praying to god they can’t counter it in the lag.

Ahh good shit, I’ma have to mess around with that. Does it work in the corner?

lol yeah, i’m the guy from san diego you were playing. It’s just i can’t find ANYONE online. It’s cool, maybe in a couple days.

None of his loops work if started directly in the corner as you have to utilize a high wallbounce if they are anywhere close to the corner, meaning you have to start in the general vicinity of halfscreen, but I am working on my own infinite setup off of j.D(can be used as an instant overhead), which allows you to be able to start at about a 3rd screen away (where the span of the timer begins) and infinite. It’s still a WIP but I at least know I can get a few loops, it’s just another difficult loop like the Mana Counter setup. You MIGHT be able to hit the infinite I listed directly in the corner, as it looks like you can, but I simply cannot get it to work.

If you ever find yourself lead to the corner while doing an infinite though, just do Back Attack, turn, D and loop that (much faster than normal loop speeds) and you’ll be good to go.

Add Dir_en_Grey_666, he is west coast also and he is looking for people to play
