Dante Video Posting Thread

Love this video but I can’t get the trickster mix ups to work. Also what is the timing of doing it on an incoming character after killing them? A good example would be after killing with million dollars, do you have time to do any of these mix ups?

@‌kinetic-1
I forgot to clarify that in order for trickster to work Dante needs to be in the far left or far right of midscreen. If he is in the middle of midscreen ,the incoming character will appear on the same side Dante teleports. So for example after a bnb that ends with hammer you must wavedash x2 and then volcanoxxbeehive, dash,stHxxsnapback.
After million dollars’ jackpot hit(and generally after killing) you have more than the double time of snapback to set a mixup to the incoming character. So yeah these mixups should work, but with different timing. You have enough time to wavedash/plinkdash or teleport and time a mixup.
For example trickster after million dollars works like this:Million dollars jackpot hit, backdash, wait a little bit, vajra and then teleport.
Another thing that you can do is take advantage of the dead body direction.Since the incoming character will appear depending on your position over the dead character you can go for more mixups. For example after volcanoxxbeehive airdash, slight delay vajra, teleport, teleport double crossup or airdash, slight delay vajra, teleport, dash under(double crossup),airdash, slight delay vajra, teleport, fake the dash(forward wavedash and then backward wavedash)(non crossup).I’ll see if i can do a video of incoming mixups with vajra after killing with million dollars, beehive, reverb shockxxfireworks(common enders).

Anyone have any footage of optimal dante play? Thanks.

Find videos of good Dante players. You have YouTube. Do you know any names to search for or was that what you were essentially asking?

Well it’s not technically point dante play, but there’s some slick dante/akuma shit in this FT10

I’m looking for sick dante play that is by nonames. I love watching yipes, sumbrwnkid, etc… but I’m sure there has to be some unknown godlike players out there. Thanks

Just settle for watching guys like SumBrwnKid, Green Ace, Cloud, DapVip, etc. I don’t see the point of searching for “unknown godlike players” when there are KNOWN godlike players that you can watch.

Besides, unknown players are, well, unknown. Your best bet is typing “Dante UMvC3” into YouTube and trying your luck there if you’re so set on watching unknowns.

Agreed with Insert. Only argument against I can think of is possible exposure to unexpected assists. But id soak up all the known Dantes first, and THEN look for the lesser knowns. Some suggestions to find other Dantes:

  1. Go to various twitch pages for diff communities, like vgbootcamp, freedemonia, etc. Search for archives. (And if anyone knows of any good examples of such channels, not just for dante, but just good marvel in general, I’m all ears!)

  2. Search for Japanese players you know of on youtube. Scour the recommended videos looking for any YT channel that posts games played by ‘random’ Japanese guys. I stumbled upon one of these this morning, but my phone died later so I lost the page (and with it the name).

There are some Dante players that kinda go unnoticed among the community. I don’t know why my name keeps popping up LOL. You should pay attention to dudes like David F and GoX. They may not have the flashiest Dante’s but their neutral is definitely above the usual stuff and they play matchups fairly well.

Yea I’m a fan of David F’s play too, he’s actually really legit. Is there any recent footage/streams of him though? There is so little on him. Prob best D/V/M right now

The last time I seen David F play was at the I Next Level memorial tournament for Remix I believe. At least I think that’s what it was. Anyway, he was drunk off his ass and still winning. I really wish he would play more on stream.

I last saw David F at SCR earlier this year.

Haven’t seen him since.

Gentlemen, I want to share this with you:

Hopefully more Dante in the next one

No JS unscale combos > DHC > Frank lv.1 > double JS Frank lv.5 + Thor kill combos?

Disappointing…

Seriously, though, awesome vid. Love seeing optimized shit like that.

I’m actually working on figuring out how to bolo glitch with Jam Session. Its difficult to do without taunt being mapped. Already started taking notes for part 2 as well.

Having taunt mapped feels like a requirement for DP. Wish they would just let you map through the config…

picked up vergil recently, so i been playing the sparda brothers shell a lot, some dante/vergil/doom combos, let me know if i can optimize them anymore guys, any input would help.

first part of the video is point vergil stuff, the rest is point dante.

Seriously thinking of dropping Vergil for Morrigan. This team has insane meter build and really good defensive options. Not to mention, seems pretty versatile in any order from what I’ve been playing around. Lot’s of spare meter for Strider to make comebacks (something I really miss from running Vergil/Strider behind Dante, I always seem short on meter).

Could you elaborate on that Morrigan/Strider(vajra) synergy?
My take on Vergil vs Morrigan vajra thing:
I consider Vergil as one of the top vajra users(incoming, neutral, mixups, pressure, combos),plus you can keep xf for Strider most of the times with good hit confirms.
Even if you burn xf(2) for Vergil you have a good chance killing two characters. If you fail you are forced to have a good Strider or it is over.Except if you manage to have 3 meters if Vergil dies, which is possible considering that Dante’s optimal combos (with vajra) into swords tod almost every character and stay meter positive(or tod every character and stay close to meter neutral).
Is Morrigan/vajra better than Vergil/vajra in these aspects and what does she offer to Dante other than a defensive assist?
Obviously during swords you don’t build meter, unlike astral vision. But even so,if you use it for zoning or neutral game purposes you’re at a little better position than Vergil (at least in terms of meter build). But i don’t see how that could help Strider.

Wow, that’s a lot of shot loops for almost the same result haha.

Also, you almost always want to use Vajra early to get a Million Carat into sword loops, it takes advantage of making the most of damage scaling early, and it sets up for shot loops right after. I could spill you the beans about everything on this team (Dante hitting ~680k meterless [don’t remember exact number]; Dante TAC’ing into Morrigan infinite at the end of combos, regardless of hitstun; Soul drain setups out the ass, etc.) Been meaning to make an updated combo vid with that team, which I’ll probably do once the semester ends.
