Merc Akuma tatsu is one of the best combo extenders in the game vanilla wise so I’m not surprised that it works after acid rain loops so are drones especially for Dante in the corner. But you can constantly land volcano disrupter j.S after mid screen acid rain because I cant with doom plasma and Whesker’s low gun shot doesn’t work in that situation either. Hear me out though prop shredder to hammer might still allow assist extension you just have to give up acid rain reps for it.
Really impressed with the overall changes to Dante, he still looks pretty much intact. Doesn’t look like they nerfed anything good about him, just some of the broken and derpy aspects of a few normals, Hammer(which I for one abuse the crap out of), and took away a loop or so. They also buffed his DT? WTF?! Very happy!
A bit sad about the rekka aspect of his specials being simplified, just 'cause it felt good getting the hang of all of them. LOL! Oh well, it’s all good though.
Even with Ultimate sooooo close I still practice all my combos and. even the double motions. I never thought the time to OTG was that bad in Vanilla until I faced someone who would literally walk up to me after a air combo, use Wesker assist and then continue the combo. Although I dont see assist extended combos being extinct just bc there are people like Dorm who wont be able to do anything but Day 1 combos without assists

So I was watching the UNvC2 stream and something kept bothering me. They kept talking about how because of the new pushback on his normals, you basically always have to use Stinger combos. I’m sure Day 1 combos will still work but only if you were even closer than you had to be in Vanilla but my problem is adding this nerf to the stricter timing that it takes to BC. I’m sure offline this wont be that much of a problem once you get used to it (if you werent BCing fast enough) but wouldnt this mean that online we cant do anything but BC combos? Meaning that (for most people) unless the online is better, Dante will basically become unplayable online. I definitely dont plan on dropping him but it seems as though Capcom wants to make him harder to play (which I truly dont understand the reasoning for this) while also making it so that his combos either end up shorter or just end differently.
Bee hive X 2 got the nerfbat and bee hive jet stream no longer works I guess bee hive to cold shower then reverb shock fireworks might be the new best ender for most of the cast it wiffs on tall characters for some reason though Dorm is an example of this. As far as abc combos in to S I’m sure the push back isn’t that bad and that stuff still works. The bc nerf I think has to do with people hit confirming with stinger to full damage combos from across the screen, grapple combos require you delay the the cancel by p linking so intentional or intentionally those wall bounce grapple combos might be gone as well. Dante will still be high tire so long as stinger assist teleport remains a 4 way mix up right/left high/low.
Whats p linking? Lol I always did Stinger wall bounce into Grapple by just delaying the second :qcf:+:h: (pad player) although I never used it too much
I can do long BC combos online with no problems, and I’ve also played tons and tons of other players who can also do them, and I’m talking about Acid Rain Loops, charge shot loops, x factor combos, devil trigger combos etc etc.
The netcode can’t get worse, so if anything it would be easier.
Anyway, I was watching the stream last night as well, and I noticed that anti airing with M, H and the going to cold shower doesnt connect anymore :sad: :sad: :sad:
can anyone confirm this, Im just hoping the player I watched had an execution error.

I heard before that Ultimate Dante’s Jetstream doesn’t bring you to the corner, but looking at the NCvC2 stream it still does.

Test the amount of invincibility hammer has towards the ending frames. Test its overall ability to deal with like left/right BS after chicken blocking etc. Note if it’s harder to land OTG after raw hammer hits.

List down the mid screen (ground and anti air based) combos you find that still work and list the corner combos after j.H, air play, j.H that still work.

Test to see how sky dance works during standard killer bee relaunch bnbs with the new pushback.

Note down the meter gain difference in his combos from Vanilla.

Generally tell if there’s any tighter timing during his bnbs. Especially during the bold cancel parts.

Test to see how good his s.L and s.M are for anti airing jumping attacks and overhead teleports and what not. Can you still just swing s.L/s.M at Wesker’s grounded H teleport j.S and anti air him easily?
How much does the meter gain reduction hurt Dante, if it’s even a significant amount

Dante got hit pretty hard, a lot of stuff is gone or nerfed.
- Regular BnB timing is hard as fuck. I am doing blabla stinger>volcano>J.H>Airplay>Launch>Prop to get it to work. With 5H>5S, it’s REALLY HARD. I ended up sticking with stinger>volcano>jmh>Killer Bee>S>Charge Shots>Prop for a consistent BnB
- Meter nerf gain affects quite a bit.
- Cold Shower has hitstun deterioration past a certain point. Regular BnBs worked perfectly but Zero combo>Devil trigger DHC would drop at the cold shower part. Might be possible with 2 hit cold shower though.
- Killer Bee trajectory changed. In vanilla, Stinger>volcano>J.H>Killer bee worked. In UmVC3 you have to do J.M>J.H Killer bee.
+Acid rain is REALLY good for controlling space. The faster ease of input changes a lot. If anyone tries to SJ on you, acid rain into mixups is really good. - Acid rain floats less. Could only get 3 reps with the simplified input
- Shot loops are gone
+/- Hammer invincibility still there but decreased. I was hammering through shit sometimes and getting hit a lot of time. Probably not frame 1 invincible, looks to be invincible from frame 8-up. STILL A VERY STRONG MOVE - Pushback and hitstun on his normals greatly decreased
- Anti airing(biggest nerf to dante IMO) is pretty much GONE. At a certain height, the S.L>M>H DOESNT WORK, and that height isn’t that high. Looks like S.M and H have been made slower
- Volcano>JH>Airplay>JH> Killer Bee>5H>5S follow up to hammer GONE because of increased pushback on normals and killer bee trajectory
+/- JetStream still works perfectly, nerf was a rumor.
- ASSIST EXTENSIONS STILL IN, HELLZ YEAH. I managed to do Cold Shower>Stinger>Zero>Acid Rain x 2.
Still incredibly strong, the anti airing just doesn’t work as well.
Sounds like people are gonna be jumping on Dante’s head all day without Haggar assist now. My brother is gonna love this shit. LOL.
I guess this was somewhat warranted because s.L and s.M didn’t need to be both pokes and anti airs but…he’s going to have to really get crafty or fish for air throw in some situations where he used to just swing on shit before. Sounds like you’re going to have to be a lot more calculated with your normals now. I’ve been working on bold cancel blocking to compensate for this so we’ll see what happens.
Well I know what I’m doing. X-23 first as dirt nap meter builder or if she dies…ends up being huge battery for Dante coming in with DT ready to go. With those buffs to DT…I’ma make sure Dante comes in out the gate with hard drive the special move and get those extra damage increases in the combos. Resets in DT I’m sure will be able to waste character’s life bars easily.
Dante and Doom work like magic with plasma beam assist even if they don’t have perfect DHC combo synergy (at least they can safe DHC either way). The pressure Dante applies during block strings with beam assist is absurd and Doom will still be able to kill people with or without XF easily on a touch. Basically builds his own mter easily.
Zero/Dante Rekkoha/Devil Trigger shenanigans being gone breaks my heart man. I might need to make a whole new team now.
Eh Nini said just the Cold Shower (x Stinger) part is gone, or requires strict timing. That’s less than 25k (or pry closer to 15kish with the new damage scaling) less damage. I’m not worrying about it too much.
E: ok yeah that does fuck up the Sentinal assist extension, still no reason to steer away from Zero/Dante wholesale
Can he still do series of BS after a Round Harvest -> Raw tag to him?
BTW how do you like the buffs to Devil Trigger? Double air dash and triple jump open some new opportunities?
