Dante Changes in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Air XF is so godlike. Freddyloco was doing JH>Skydance>XF>J.S to reset the ground bounce and extend the combo, looks SWAGGY AS FUCK.

I’m not sure about hammer anymore. I beat divekicks and normals with it but got a hit a bunch of times by beams and supers, so I think there’s some invincibility somewhere but not sure where. Still a really good move because of the retarded hitbox, and the fact that it comes really fast now with the easier input.

BS after round harvest still works, but the cold shower nerf is annoying. I played Zero/Trish/Dante in the tourney for the ToDs, Rekkoha>Round Harvest>Hard Tag>Teleport Hammer>VolcanoHive>Stinger BC Jetstream was all I could do. Still some good shit

Damage is nerfed quite a bit, especially noticeable on a hammer starter into cold shower. Gonna test out whether you can do Volcano>JH>airplay>launch>J.H>killer bee after a hammer, cause the cold shower prop shredder shit was doing PISSSS damage(talking 300-400k range). Volcano>J.H>airplay>J.

Reverb Shock>Fireworks>DT still combos in the corner, didn’t try midscreen.

Fireworks is still retarded on block.

Reverb>DT works midscreen and gets you a full combo.

Overall, a lot less derp with the easy ass hitconfirms and easy damaging BnBs, still has everything to win, just has to work a bit harder. His combos all have tighter timing too.
I believe he is still better than Vergil because of his versatility.

At one point, I just started camping with Drones + Acid rain, if you don’t have a teleport or beam/very fast invincible super that goes full screen, you are locked the fuck down lmao

Meter gain is A BIG DEAL. Capcom was smoking when they said they only reduced it by 90%. Phoenix is fucked in this game, you have time to kill the first 2 chars and she’ll barely have 4 bars. Meter builds really fucking slow.

Mashing on hypers makes a BIG DIFFERENCE.

Honestly, I feel like Dante got the best deal out of the god tiers in Vanilla outside of Zero and Viper. Magneto and Wolverine are on stretchers right now.

If you can still beat dive kicks and pokes with hammer that’s all I need to know. It’s just that tool you need when you’re not trying to get frame trapped to death by Zero and Wolverine. The fact that it could pass through beams and gravity squeezes is just useless unnecessary crap that made the move stupid braindead to use over all the other great tools he had.

I like the sound of the air XF swag. If there’s anyone who can put the swag in air XF it’s the man with the rebellion sword.

Oh and remember to tell me tomorrow** how double air dash and triple jump works. **

Let’s see if Dante ends up being more versatile and solid than his brother…who is apparently Dark Wesker the playable character (put me in the back so i can DURP, don’t learn my point game…that requires THOUGHT!).

EDIT: I’ve been thinking that vergil’s rising sun assist (uppercut) might be great for dante since it leaves the opponent juggling a good while.

I was hitting people with BS crossups like airdash>Airdash back J.H ALL DAY.

DT Dante is actually really good, it’s just that considering how slow meter builds in this game, you might be more inclined to save it for that kill.

Combo ender damage got RAPED. Beehive>Jetstream damage is a JOKE now.

Can you try stinger>volcano>J.M>Airplay>J.H>H>Wildstomp/Cold Shower/whatever the fuck you call it>Prop Shredder? I doubt it will work with the increased pushback, but still.

And then try stinger>volcano>J.H>Airplay>Air Dash>J.H>S>Charge Shots>Prop Shredder? This one actually works on the entire cast (minus sentinel without a J.M before the first J.H, I guess) and even works in the corner on small characters and seems to put Dante right at point blank, which would make it seemingly less/not affected by the increased pushback.

The second one has more potential than the first one, but both actually work off of a hammer connected very low to the ground -> volcano -> and so on which makes me think they will still work even with ultimate’s shorter hit stun timer.

Second one works, tight timing though.

Seems like Dante’s easily the best character in the game now that Phoenix is done. Dante still has better tools than Vergil.

Definitely not the best but pretty close to it. Only problem I see with him at this moment is damage, but it’s still Day -3, so i’m pretty sure something will show up.
Gonna test out the Weasel Shot thingy.

About having better tools than vergil, I dunno. He has more tools than his big brother that’s for sure, but Vergil’s tools are all amazing

Just a few things I found:
standard LMHS does NOT work after j.:h: so Day 1 bnbs from Vanilla have to start as MHS or LMS after a j:h:
Snapbacks work after Crazy Dance (was this in Vanilla?)
Stinger BC Volcano j.h airplay adf j.h still works but the s.MH after the second j.h will only connect in the corner (Edit: Does still work but timing on Cold Shower is strict)
above combo into Cold Shower works weird bc the Cold Shower just barely hits the opponent
Stinger BC Jetstream still works after BC bnb

EDIT: st.LMHS almost never connects on smaller characters

So his LMH Stinger BC Volcano jH airplay adf jH MH cold Shower xx Prop Shredder Hammer Cold Shower xx Stinger BC Hammer/jS Volcano OTG xx Beehive Stinger BC Jet Stream xx Fireworks xx MD does about 630k and builds a little under 1.5 meters whereas in Vanilla it built 2+ bars. Anything else you want me to test while I’m in training?

Also, Stinger BC almost always crosses up in the corner meaning Hammer should be used to make sure it hits instead of jS but since Hammer is now just QCF+L, L it should be easy.

-Million Carats xx DT -> teleport no longer works (ice stays in same position)
-LMHS combos still work if you do LMH Million Stab S
-In Vanilla you could TK a Hammer and at the right height it would still hit. Doesnt work at all now
-Stinger BC Teleport can sometimes mess up and put you in front of the opponent. When done correctly (Dante teleports behind the opponent) the bounce is MUCH higher. Still comboable but very noticeable difference

EDIT 2: I’m definitely thinking there’s hidden changes bc he can combo off his throw from regular jump height with Twister (no XF).:eek:

I wont be getting the game until tuesday but Im so curious bout how his shenanigans changed.

I guess the last thing Im curious about is if its still possible to combo a grapple hook after a stinger wall bounce, and if the grapple still gives that sexy reset position.

I have to test the reset positioning but I know for a fact that you can still combo a Grapple off a Stinger wall bounce. The problem is, bc of how ridiculously easy it is to cross up after Stinger in this game, it will sometimes mess up and make you do either Jam Session or Jet Stream. Same as in the corner when trying to do Cold Shower xx Stinger BC Million Carats, you will sometimes get Beehive(still connects) or Revolver (cant remember how well this connects).

EDIT: Im guessing Grapple recovery counts as Knockdown recovery. Nonetheless they’re still forced to do a neutral recovery.

Anti airing problem is fixed, all you gotta do is use 5M instead of 5L.

That could already be done in vanilla, it just had really stupid timing
