Dante Changes in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Maybe it is, we’ll see. Hard to imagine they could mistranslate acid rain as clay pigeon though.

my friend gave this awesome explanation from the translation he got from ggl translate

i randomly guessed that with the situation we had and how they both relate to a volatile
Nini - Fri Oct 28, 2011 1:53 am
how the fuck does arrow rain refer to a bird
Bibiquadium - Fri Oct 28, 2011 1:53 am
they both come from the sky

and since the pdgeon is made of clay, he falls, kekeke

It’s pretty hard to imagine any move Dante has as “clay Pigeon”.

Lmao, that’s pretty godlike, but it does make sense since acid rain does cause a soft knockdown.

I just thought it was upshots since they don’t really have a proper name and it looks like he’s shooting birds outta the sky.

Clay Pidgeon is obviously the secret 24th special move Dante had in Vanilla.

isnt upshot charge shot?

I’m assuming clay pigeon is the up shots because, 1. We didn’t have a name for em. 2. They have those things where they shoot the clay disks in the air and you shoot them, I’m sure there is a pigeon version too.

We just called em that cause they didn’t really have a proper name. His real charge shots from DMC3 is basically the last hit of Million Dollars.

Well, he has a move called Cold Shower, so Clay Pigeon isn’t too much of a stretch in terms of “Uhhh, wtf?” factor.

Or wild stomp depending on who you’re talking to. I’m pretty sure a good # of players here don’t know what the fuck people are talking about when they say wild stomp.

I called it Wild Stomp up until I saw the strategy guide lol. I still don’t like how they changed “Air Raid” to Thunder Bolt. Or Dance Macabre to Crazy Dance. Tiny gripe, but the DMC fanboy inside me wonders why the change, y’know?

Arent Wild Stomp and Cold Shower two different moves although slight variations? Im pretty sure for WS he steps on the enemy and shoots them with one gun. For CS he just aims both guns downward.

Crazy Dance was actually in DMC3, it was Dance Macabre’s extension. Air Raid is the flight activation and Thunderbolt was called by the same name in DMC3. The only move I believe that was named specifically in MVC3 that wasn’t in DMC3 was Beehive iirc.

@ Kaiten: That is correct.

Just being politically correct.

Air raid reminds people of bombings, you wouldn’t wanna get sued because some dumb kid heard his friend say I “blew you up with my air raid like a terrorist” and then get all mushy because a parent passed away in an air raid, and then capcom would get sued.

Dance Macabre, probably too grim of an undertone for a name for an attack for a relatively light hearted fun game. In DMC it was okay because we were dealing with devils and demons and a lot of death symbolism, in Marvel, not so much

Don’t feel like you ever need to lecture me on DMC know-how! I know this! It just seems like an odd thing to change, since Dance Macabre is the main part of the move. Also, if we were going into specifics, it would’ve really been easier to call the lighting Air Raid anyways since flight activation doesn’t really have a name for any character. I mean in Viewtiful Joe, Alastor’s lightning blasts were called Air Raid.

Sentinel says “Air Raid” during his Bombing Sentinel Force. I just think Sentinel took his moves (as well as Vanilla Cap’s double jump). But yeah, back on topic…

But if we’re going into specifics, then Air Raid really IS only the name for Dante’s flight mode…he shoots Thunderbolts during Air Raid.

Dante, and Vergil/Trish to a degree, have names for their wall jumps (Wall Hike), air dashes (Sky Star), flight (Air Raid) and double jumps (Air Hike)…

By choosing to call the thunder move Air Raid, you’re calling it by a wrong name. Better to use its actual name, IMO.

Fine, I concede. I guess I had a BRIEF lapse of judgement in my DMC know how.

i looked at the original japanese site and it literally says “kureipijon”

compared to the movelist i found in some mvc3 japanese wiki and no matches

lol

Ye, the discs you shoot are literally called “clay pigeons.” 100% sure this is the up shots. Not really sure how lowering the float hurts comboability, unless the shots also cause massive HSD now. Should probably still get at least two reps of a gun loop in AA combos, and hopefully we’ll still have Acid Rain loops for everything else.

If anything you should be able to do the 2 shots, then hit em back up for 10 into reverb shock
