Chun Li…try fighting that Ravitz player…he is major-fucking-annoying. Gimmick, gimmick, gimmick…
Dhalsim: I have a friend on my list ‘Clunetastic’ who mains Sim and he is practically unbeatable when I use Claw. In fact, I’m not sure how a Sim, played at that level is beatable with Vega. I think everyone here should fight him…it’s a lesson in humility.
My friend mains Dhalsim and I can pretty much say the match-up is 5-5.
Alot of Dhalsim’s moves can shut Vega down the same way as vice-versa. The way to play this is to get a knock-down then pressure them to a corner. RCF is quite useful in this match-up. If you want more details on how you can beat your friend, i could give you a couple of tips.
His GT is Clunetastic and he’s on XBL. I’ve a 80%+ win record with Claw and I can’t get near this chap. He’s amongst the most clinical players I’ve ever faced…
First, his instant overhead game should be neutralized because that is an instant punish with ex.FBA. It could also be punished with your ultra, since you’ll only be getting hit by it if your crouched, and if you are crouched, you should be charging down-back. Second, your jump forward hp is a good tool for jump ins if you’re close and hk if you’re far. They should beat most of his anti-air but are a gamble with his back hk. Third, he has no dp move, so your pressure game is quite important here.
That being said, the main focus of this match is to corner him and then make him guess. This is where you’re mix-up game becomes important because with vega, since he has no moves with a invulnerability start-up, dhalsim can just option-select you all day. More to come later.
I need advice against good Ken players. Playing footsies is annoying because of Kens front kick, cr.mk into hadouken. Also my jumpins have little effect since I can’t get the timing down to break his cr.tech option select. Also when he gets to jumpin he can vary between j.hp and j.mk to make it impossible to always block the right direction. As soon as he hitconfirms a jumpin he will do a full combo into tatsu into guessing game then repeat. Usually if I guess wrong after the tatsu-ride I get to eat another one, then im dizzy, then I die. On blocked jumpins I usually end up eating a max-ranged kara throw or have to take another jumpin and start the guessing again.
For Ken’s fwd MK, ST comes out faster with better priority. You are bound to atleast trade or outright win. Do occational pokes with far MK to keep your distance. If Ken jumps forward from a medium range to try to get close, jump back and give him your Fierce Kick. The most important thing when fighting Ken is you have to have your distance at the very start. If Ken does a fireball on you at start, jump LK willl counter him if you react fast enough. Remember, with the exception of back jump fierce kick, all your normals will out right lose to any of Ken’s jump normals if he presses it as soon as he jumps. If not, you can always wall him with neutral jump fierce kick. Once Ken is forced to guess around with when to throw out his kicks in the air, its your time to shine with ST. Also remember, air Tasu doesn’t break armor. Focus it then dash back (don’t forget to charge if you don’t plan to jump). If air tasu was done too far, your ST should win.
For teching and blocking, you really have to figure that out on your own.
hey guys i dont know if i missed any info since i barely post things but bison and cammy are my enemy in this freggin game,
1.(Bisons) short scissor is by far the most annoying safe move to use aginst vega, like i cant seem to punish this or get away. but since my xbox is broken i want to give you guys a threory to test for me. when bison does his short scissor see if u can sneak is a light jab into ex (what ever your choice maybe)
(Cammy) and as far as i know since i have gamed it up with sanford and a few other great cammys that damn spiral arrow is a bizzitch so the only thing i can say to prevent it is 2 things A) try and constantly use your cosmic heel on wake up to force her movements to stop and force her into a grab parry or she will take a grab now i noticed this annoys the hell out of them >: ) which makes them make dumb moves but BE WARNED if you the cosmic heel is a second too late, you eat a cannon spike to the grill lol but if you get that down pact you will be ok. Cammy is not a problem unless your in a corner so try to always keep in mind that the corner equals death so every time u barely pass half screen think about gettn out of there ahead of time. but remember everytime cammy JUMPS, backstep back and consider a cosmic heel.
sorry im gettin lazy, theres so much more things but i hate typing but ill give a 2 bonus trick you should look out for and 1 trick you should try.
Cammy look out fors
if cammy trips you and on wake up she cannon drills toward you ( please block) because shes baiting a reversal because she knows she can just goku cannon spike your face off if you try.
flying barcelona’s are pretty much useless, unless your using a EX to get the tackle but if u miss the tackle i suggest you not try and go for the izuna or claw attack because all she has to do is press HP -_- so lame iknow. keep in mind not ALL players kno this so test it out one time to check.
**must learn **
did you know that sagat can get caught in the izuna trap from the old days o yea i said mother beepers its the best feeling to watch the strongest player in the game get trappd by one of the weakest tear drops its hard but if ur izuna game is on point then get him near a corner and if you land a drop on him keep it up and aim for his back on wake up untill you get bored or he dies. if you screw up the timing im sure we know how strond super sayian sagat can be lol but heres a video to check out these vids
<<<<<in training mode with the CPU ON
still not a beilever? ok here a match with it being tested
<<<< if you want to fast forward to the 2nd match where you will see the sagat match. but in the 1st round im still tryna figure out how he EX ST threw ryus hadoken the EX hadoken while in a block string -_- iduno
Last but not least
<< useful vega tricks i also use
and vega players in japan i think you should check out is Makoto and cat-K i also got some inside scoops on vega in SSF4 and all ima say is top tier!! and all our practice will not be wasted!! so tell all your friends now when ssf4 comes out ima @#$# u up!! lmfao payback is coming.
enjoy and sorry if some angry guy come along and wants to give me a angry comment or somethin
Iv been seeing alot more vegas who rush down with their pokes and use the crystal roll for good chip damage and damage in general. I Main Bison and Sim and would definitey say that a good Rush Down Vega has been giving me more trouble than a Vega who try’s to hit and run. Because of OS I’v been very successful at punishing hit and run Vega’s. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot I didnt want to start a new thread just for this… But have any of you Vega players recently started rushing more on the account of his super long pokes and not having a solid AA?
Depending on the characters, its just safer to rush than against certain other characters. Especially dhalsim, he doesnt have a good wakeup game so whenever he gets knocked down i’ll always go in with random pokes and just keep the pressure on.
Anyone have advice on a consistent strategy against Rose? There’s this guy I play fairly regularly who mains Rose, and it just seems as if alot of Vega’s options are completely shut down against her. I have trouble playing footsies with her the most, I just can’t seem to find the proper range from which to fight this bitch. I have alot of other problems fighting her as well, most of which I’m too tired to get into right now.
Mix-up and rush down. Switch between low :lp: range and far :lk: range (occasional low :mp: range for safety when necessary). See if that works for you.
First piece of advice I can give it mix it up, don’t get predictable and don’t jump.
If you have a good focus dash game vs.projectile throwing Rose-ers, Focus dash forward through the projectile, try to close the gap then apply pressure. Just watch her slide kick. It’s a twat, it has good recovery and loves hitting Vega out of EVERYTHING.
Vega’s lights are key because they’re quick and her recovery on soul spirals can be a little slow so you can punish if they love their spirals.
Just my two cents from experience shakes fist whenever my other half picks her.
Rose is currently my worst matchup by far. I just don’t understand how to defend against her block strings. Her normals have so much range cause she hits me from so far away and then linking into her spiral attack thing. I can’t backdash or flip, or attack (I can’t even trade hits, I just downright lose) against her. She is like cammy but has more range, priority, and a projectile.
alot of her damage comes from you trying to tech her throws and getting punished by meaties that take advantage of your + / - block stun… just option select tech late everytime and she’s pretty much incapable of doing damage. Abuse your sweep to counter poke any o that bullshit and makle sure to pressure the shit out of her. As long as you play smart footsies and don’t let Rose do fireballs shenigans theres realy no reason she would get lcose to you.
Als o tournament oomorrro!!! wish me luck h omies _{___K

I’ve been having a lot of problems with Honda lately. Seems like nothing I can do doesn’t get the fuck punished out of it. My one hope has been getting the life lead early on in the match and then backing away, making him come to me to break his charge, but there’s gotta be more to it.
Oh, and if any of you on the XBox wanna fight please add me. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but the last…10, maybe 15 mirror matches against Vega have been straight wins, which probably says more about the quality of the Vegas I’m playing rather than my own skill.
fighting honda isnt to tough actually. its more of a quick draw when playin him. one thing i can say is “DO NOT RUSH HONDA ALL THE TIME” try to bait honda if he does a headbutt there are 4 things you can do. 1)jump back and use vega’s hard punch. 2) block the headbutt and hit him with the medium kick b4 he’s able to block or 3)EX barcelona his ass right after you block the headbutt, and 4)after block on headbutt ultra his ass if your fast enough. now one thing i find annoying is his “ass slam” lol but if you stay calm and pay attention you can air grab while he is in the air but i dont reccomend it so just do vega’s short back flip and standing hard kick (jus in case he tries to follow) and back dash to slow the paste down cause honda is pretty annoying up close. these are lil trick i picked up while i was playin my friend “city of brass” i dont know if you guys heard of him but his honda taught me alot of do’s and dont’s i would reccomend cross up which normally works but i dont know how good you are yet but scroll up to the links i posted for some cross over tips which is a life saver to mind fuck your opponents hope this helped some what
