Dan Moveset and Attributes

Man dans dash is so quick most times I fight ken I just absorb a hadoken then dash x 2 right up to a koryu in his grill. And ultra beats raging demon almost every time. I sit back and wait for Akuma players to do it (because you can usually tell when they are trying to lol) and do ultra on reaction. Leaves them like :annoy:

I love Dan in this game but there’s one thing that bugging me and potentially stopping him from being my main. And that is, whats his overhead attack >.>???

^St. HP?

I don’t think Dan has overhead attack.

No he doesnt, his s.HP just looks like Ryo’s Overhead, but it doesnt actually hit high. Also so far it seems like his Koryuken with mp is his best koryuken.

Another good move to stop raging demons is danku kyaku. Easy to pull of and doesnt use any gauge. Ive done it several times on reaction. I love how people think raging demon is the best move in the game lol.

Ive noticed something about both his Ultra. Now this might happen because I play online and there might be slight lag or whatever, but here it is

Earlier I was playing against a Ken in ranked. When I noticed that everytime I jumped over him when he was down he’d do a wake up DP, I figured itd be a good set up for an Ultra. So the next time I down’d him I jumped over like I did before and as I did I inputted Dan’s Ultra. What happened was the Ultra cinematic took place a few inches off the ground. During the slowdown I noticed that Dan was still higher up than usual when starting his Ultra. I was alittle confused and thought maybe it was lag. I tried the same thing in Training with my bro being Ken. Sure enough it happened again. Or maybe my eyes just suck

In another topic (the one about Sirlin’s thoughts on SF4), it’s being said that most Supers in the game differ depending on the button used to execute it. Does this apply to Dan’s at all?

So you started the super right as he was about to hit you? And it stopped him cold?

Why do you say that his mp koryu is the best? Damage? or that it actually acts differently? (aside from height difference?)

Yes. He woke up Ultra, and I could’ve blocked, but I wanted to experiment, and Dan’s Super outprioritized it.

I’d say LP koryu is best. It’s safest (though still not safe), does only a little less damage than MP koryu, and can lead to a EX move juggle.

I say MP Koryu is better for anti-air, because fromm my experience, it trades far less then LP Koryu, you can do MP Koryu deeper. Now if your goal is to juggle after a koryu, LP is the best, but you gotta do it early. I dont like to guess with dragon punches. Thats why the deep anti-air is more important to me, and why I think MP is better.

I’ve been finding with airborne moves it just sucks them out of whatever they are doing if they are in range. I love that super.

So it really does pull them in from the air? they won’t just bounce off the first hit and fall away?

so… super = reliable anti-air?

No. The super has NO suction and will knock airborne enemies AWAY. If you got all 19 hits out of it, the enemy was considered on the ground.

Only time it’ll combo an airborne victim is in the corner, and even that’s not a sure thing.

RIDICULOUSLY LATE EDIT - I should’ve said “juggle” in that last sentence.

Dan’s ultra is sex. It has mad startup invincibility. Goes through fucking everything.

Hm… knocks all airborne enemies away?
I understand that i can’t just start it up when he’s high in the air of course… but will it serve any purpose as anti-air?

ok… so if enemy is airborne… j.hk for example… and I Super as he is ABOUT to land… do i get to score the full 19hits?

You said that the enemy is considered on the ground for him to take the full super… this doens’t mean he has the chance to block as he lands, does it?

Except for headshots. Watch the noggin’.

Theoretically speaking, if the enemy is X frames away from landing from a jump, and the first hit of Dan’s super happens X frames after input, then yes, the opponent will have landed and, if NOT blocking or in the middle of some sort of recovery, will take the full brunt (assuming they’re in range to take all 19 hits; gotta be fairly close). I’m 99.9% certain that they opponent can block upon landing.

I can confirm this. It has absolutely no suction. I had good Dan vs Dan matches today and got landed on one and got hit only once and got knocked down.
